Which movies that most see as popular do you find over rated, boring or just darn rubbish?

Feel free to share why if you care to.

Good films aren't made these days. Far to many of them rely on cgi rather than a good original script.

As a massive movie fan and lover of cinema, most movies are overrated. Some much more than others but always for different reasons.

Plot, pacing, visuals, acting, storytelling, imagination, emotion and though provoking.

There is not a movie out there that does not have its flaws ignored by those who raise it to a pedistal and blindly praise it.

I had 1 or 2 in my mind and then read some answers here and thought wow theres way more that I find over rated than I had realised lol

The one however that came to mind initially as I created this thread were....

The Godfather - the most boring film ever!!

Since reading this thread so far I have to agree with others such as...

The Joker - the actors were fine the story and cinematography was BORING!!

While the original intended message is positive if you actually look in to it, it is far from an uplifting movie and is actually truely crushing and not positive at all.

Correct. A man slowly realises his dreams are never to be and accepts his fate. It's a film about the death of hope. Utterly brilliant, but not the feel good love fest it's perceived as. James Stewart, a man for whom I have infinite time and respect is so excellent in this role, his frustration and anguish are brilliantly conveyed.

There was a film in the 80's with Marquis de Sade in the title and it was supposed to be full of naked women and gratuitous sex so to further are knowledge of historical facts a few mares thought we would go and educate ourselves !

Long story short it ended up with virtually 80% of the audience booing and walking out.

Compare with The King of Comedy... Both have been touted as influences for Joker (which for the record I loved). The Rupert Pupkin character is engaging, you want to know more about why he's like this. Travis Bickle I had no interest in, he felt empty and hollow.
