"Its a Wonderful Life"
I'm afraid theres something seriously wrong with you
It's a wonderful life is the greatest Xmas movies of all time.
And even though it was made 70 years ago it stills stands up against any modern movies made today |

"Top Gun. I've always that movie to be a right turd of a film."
That's fair enough
Might be because you weren't born when it came out so you see it as old and out dated ?
I think the vast majority of us who watched it in the 80's when it came out loved it, |

Thats your opinion but not mine. I am a lover of old movies and that is nowhere near the best. |

As a massive movie fan and lover of cinema, most movies are overrated. Some much more than others but always for different reasons.
Plot, pacing, visuals, acting, storytelling, imagination, emotion and though provoking.
There is not a movie out there that does not have its flaws ignored by those who raise it to a pedistal and blindly praise it. |

Not at all, I like old movies. I just cant stand Tom Cruise and war machines are always ruined by love stories. |

I had 1 or 2 in my mind and then read some answers here and thought wow theres way more that I find over rated than I had realised lol
The one however that came to mind initially as I created this thread were....
The Godfather - the most boring film ever!!
Since reading this thread so far I have to agree with others such as...
The Joker - the actors were fine the story and cinematography was BORING!!

While the original intended message is positive if you actually look in to it, it is far from an uplifting movie and is actually truely crushing and not positive at all. |

"The piano
Did you mean the pianist?"
No I think he means The Piano, Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel and Sam Neil in one of my favourite films of the 90s. Nyman Soundtrack too.
Hilarious reading the diverse opinions of this thread. You can't please everyone. So many of my favourites listed as overrated.
I think we can all agree on Avatar though, I'll add Taxi Driver to the list. |

Correct. A man slowly realises his dreams are never to be and accepts his fate. It's a film about the death of hope. Utterly brilliant, but not the feel good love fest it's perceived as. James Stewart, a man for whom I have infinite time and respect is so excellent in this role, his frustration and anguish are brilliantly conveyed. |

There was a film in the 80's with Marquis de Sade in the title and it was supposed to be full of naked women and gratuitous sex so to further are knowledge of historical facts a few mares thought we would go and educate ourselves !
Long story short it ended up with virtually 80% of the audience booing and walking out. |

"Scarface. So cheesy & Al Pacino's
"Cuban" accent is hilariously bad."
Yeah I didn't like it and I love Al Pacino and usually enjoy that kind of film. I also have to say Taxi Driver. I just can't feel any interest in the character, it feels empty, the whole film. |

Compare with The King of Comedy... Both have been touted as influences for Joker (which for the record I loved). The Rupert Pupkin character is engaging, you want to know more about why he's like this. Travis Bickle I had no interest in, he felt empty and hollow. |

Only became a xmas classic because someone forgot to file the copyright form, so it was cheap to show. |
