Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrgggghhhh!

Why is it so stressful?

I can deal with packing my stuff - I just cant deal with the cost / time of decorating

I wish I had more money to pay a painter.

Any tips anyone can offer to cut down costs of painting, carpets etc ...

PLEASE!

X

Tip 1 ... don't paint the carpets

But seriously .. if you are confident enough ... doing it yourself will always be cheaper

Do as much as you can yourself, if I was closer I'd offer my decorating services for tea and biscuits

Ask your friends. Amazing what a bacon butty or a chip butty will buy you.

I got nothing but I'll come mix drinks for you and make sandwiches.

(Been through this. Hugs).

Don't rush, there's no need to.....do one room at a time....carpets, some places now will do the whole house for a reasonable price and throw a freebie in.....paint, at our local tip they have a container full of paint that's not been used or half tins, see if your local tip does that....maybe ask friends and family to help.....and it being Xmas how about paint for gifts...or a carpet....

For painting, unless you organise a painting party and provide drinks and snacks I don’t think there’s a shortcut.

Find some music you like or a podcast and get to it, even on your own a few hours can make a big difference

Get friends around to help under the guise of a moving in party.

You may new friends after but you'll have a fresh coat, so...

I'm sure they would give a hand. I know I would if one of mine asked.

Invest in a pole for the roller. So much easier if you have lots to do.

You could try getting in touch with local FE colleges that teach painting and decorating and see if there are any students you could hire, or who would do it as part of the course.

And local "men and shed" groups - just a groups of older guys who like to help with DIY projects for something to do.

Frog tape is good but too expensive - try toolstation and or screwfix for masking tape, rollers and brushes etc. never buy them from the big DIY stores as they overcharge
