Hello it is soon 2020 a new year with new goals, what are your fitness goals next year? Mine is to continue to be on my slow bulk program and to get bigger. I have also started to swim so I want to get a better time on 50m it is fun

Fight my way through the door , try and actually get on the equipment and avoid the fu@k wits wannabes just for that short guilt time they feel the need to train . So I’m thinking stay calm for two weeks then the gym will be back to normal until that time when they come back for a week before their holiday

We have yet to complete 2019's target... which we will do in time. We wanted to run 1000 miles during this year and we have 20 miles to go. We will be out running today to halve the deficit.

During this year we also entered running events, and we will do more of these in 2020.

I (her) want to run my first marathon and hopefully get a place on the Snowdon marathon later in the year. He wants to continue with marathons, Ultra's and aims to train for a 108 mile event.

My target is to walk/run 1000 miles over the course of the year, and build a really good level of base fitness, so I can get back to running ultra-marathons in 2021. It will be a long journey given where I am starting from, but it has to start somewhere!

My goal is to be less fat!! I've been messing around for year now back in 2018 I did so well and then stopped going to the gym and here we are!!

5 years ago I lost five and a half stone and all my thin clothes are still under the bed.

My goal is to get back in the gym, take control of my mental health, get some shape back!!

I train 3-4 times a week when I'm focused. Mostly weights which is not the norm for ladies but I find training most effective that way!!

I'm also a vegan so I do take protein shakes, etc. This christmas I got a juice blender so I'm going to use that too!!

Get back on track.. lose 6 stone. Work on my cardio fitness and do lots of work on walking up inclines as off up etna again and found it a little hard going last time

I'd like to get back into marathon swims, book myself in for one of the open water ones in the summer.

To do that I've got to be able to fit into my wetsuit well enough that I can actually move in it, otherwise it's just the indoor swims for me.

Either way, I'm aiming for two this year.

Corrajelo,Spain, Durham, North Yorkshire and can travel

Get back to exercising regularly. I lost weight at the beginning of the year through sensible eating and exercise. Then had an injury and lost all motivation.

On the plus side, My blood pressure is now at a perfect level, after all, good health should be the primary reason we exercise, then for how we feel and look.

Back on it again in the New Year.

Lady V and Myself are looking to just increase our fittness generally. No more scales in the house. Any weight loss is determined by dress size..

To get fit again. I had a nasty knee injury last year, got depressed and ate the wrong things. Went up to 16.5 stone!! So aim of next year is to lose the weight and get a decent looking body!!

Run at least 400 miles in the year and rejoin the gym

I started off with a diet plan made around the foods I do like and it was changed up every 2 weeks so never got bored and stuck to the plan, And gym trained 3-4 days per week.

I'll know it when I find it.

Go back to park run. Aiming for one every other weekend (every weekend is too ambitious). Find something I love doing exercise wise and stick to it - hopefully 3/4 times a week. And go to yoga/pilates when I have free time rather than sitting and watching horror films.

I think I know a few who might appreciate it next year . I’m already doing the weights work, but I fancy getting my cardio endurance up. I’ll do it through swimming and using a few more of the nice new machines at the gym.

Too many variables to give an accurate figure, lever length, distribution of body weight etc.

At a rough guess I'd say somewhere between 50-70%

I found this..

In a regular push-up, you lift 64 percent of body weight, whereas with a knee push-up, you lift 49 percent. If you're new to training, performing the push-up with hands elevated on a 24-inch bench will allow you to lift even less than a knee push-up, at 41 percent of body weight.

I just experimented with my scales.

I weigh 112kg, push ups on scales says 77kg so 69% of body weight.

If you can do 10 push ups, pressing 55kg shouldnt be a problem

However, there is such things as bad road surfaces, and bad drivers. Buy a turbo trainer!

There is such a thing as bad weather. You can have the best kit in the world but if it’s cold and freezing rain, you won’t get warm.

Also people should ride in what they feel comfortable in.

Just start with an empty bar and keep adding plates until it becomes difficult.

Exactly this! I’m fairly new to road cycling and I’m not comfortable doing it during the winter season. Also I’m limited with time and evenings normally work better for me, so I need to wait for the evenings to be lighter again.

I’ve got a really decent indoor bike so a turbo trainer feels like a bit of a waste. I might consider it though if I really get into road cycling next year.

I’ve got a really decent indoor bike so a turbo trainer feels like a bit of a waste. I might consider it though if I really get into road cycling next year."

I currently do free weights, but want to progress this year to do the bars with weights at either end.. I think it might be called snatch lifting?

Also want to do pull ups with my legs at 90degs... My jaw is open when I look at some of the guys doing it, looks amazing, such control + strength. I don't see any girls doing it, so i need to overcome my shyness

I'm 72 kg and bench 100 for reps you do the simple maths

If I do a press up I can do a full body push up that's 72 kg or a split weight at any ratio I want standard plank would be approx 60 percent bw thus 60 kg for 100 kg man or 42 ish for me

Power to weight is always my method, always trying to improve my planche iron cross single arm pull ups basically anything that compliments a mountain athlete

Yep, that’s Olympic lifts. So snatch or variation on snatch or cleans/clean and jerk and variations of those. Defo go somewhere decent as they are technical lifts and if not done right you’ll do yourself some serious damage!!!

Within normal gyms can be very off putting, in powerlifting/Olympic and strongman gyms I’ve always found everyone to be very supportive especially newcomers.

My goal was going to be to run a tough mudder in 2020, but I injured my back a couple of months ago and I'm still recovering from that. So instead I've set some slightly more modest goals to work towards a tough mudder in 2021 instead.

-couch 2 5k

-daily yoga (for flexibility and to protect my back)

-get back to Jujitsu classes twice a week

-work on being able to do pull-ups

I train 3-4 times a week when I'm focused. Mostly weights which is not the norm for ladies but I find training most effective that way!!

I'm also a vegan so I do take protein shakes, etc. This christmas I got a juice blender so I'm going to use that too!!"

Have you tried the Vanilla protein shake from Boots. It is really nice.

I make achilles a shake that keeps him full till lunch. It is really simple frozen fruit, two or three bananas, soya milk and a scoop of the protein shake. So simple i do it with my eyes closed... Not a joke i hate mornings!!!!

I've entered a 24 hour ultramarathon. To make it a little tougher it's up and down Snowdon. 24 hours running up and down a fucking mountain. What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

Other than that I have a few duathlons lines up to break the monotony of running and once the ultra is done may have a crack at a late summer triathlon.

Oh and Marathon du Medoc in September and it's 23 glorious wine stops

Or a necessary part of commuting? I'm not sure it's macho posturing on my part, but I dn;t think most riders will acquire all the skills required to compete at any level if they ahaen't ridden in hard weather as well as good
