BlackBerry users - update

We've updated the code so it should now work on most blackberry phones. Perhaps a blackberry user who has previously been unable to get this to work, could give it a try now?

To check it's getting your location on blackberry, goto the "who's near on" page where you toggle on/off and scroll to the bottom. It should say "We got your location OK"

should add that whilst the message appears & Lat / Long position appears straight away on the Samsung...

it takes a good few seconds before the same appears on the BB

"Still saying it carnt find my location ?"

What phone + model

Does it say "we got your location ok" at the bottom of the screen on the mobile site where you turn it on/off

It still can't find my location

I've got a Blackberry Bold 9780

There's no message at all at the bottom but states in red in middle of page that it can't find location, check my settings etc but all settings are ok

To be honest it's not the end of the world, the Blackberry Bold is an older model and I'm due an upgrade in a few months.

On that screen it says it is turned on and that my location is found.

Yet when I try to look for users it says my location cannot be found.

I have a blackberry curve.

Any ideas?

I've got a blackberry curve 8520 + can't it detect my location, can't connect to it at all.

Funny thing is it did work on Friday, just didn't show anyone even remotely close to where I live though but did work at least, any suggestions anyone?

Wondering if the BB issue is not the site but the phones themselves, especially in big conurbations as we'd popped to London for the Regent St festival and thought try out near me but whilst it worked ok at first it then then seemed to lose location and I saw the infamous red text..

So then logged out and went to the map function on the phone and it took forever and an age to find our location - but did eventually do so and since then the Near Me has been ok..

So guessing BB users need not only patience but also check yr phone's map function can find your location before trying this site's Near Me feature

I have the google maps app on my bb curve and that can pinpoint my location no problem though, to about 400m away at least so it doesn't seem that's the problem...

with so many BB users having no problems dont think it is a fab problem.. Best check Maps working on your phomes, then check your permissions settings.

Thanks to all the BB users for their feedback. We're looking into what we can do to improve how this works on BB devices!

If you can't get it to work go onto blackberry app world and download GPS tool.. BB's are famous for dropping their GPS loacations and when u open this programme it restarts the GPS and refreshes your location and then the who's nearby function will work normally..

Working fine on our BB C 9320, these are the key settings as they show on our BB…

1. Home page

2. Options icon

3. Device

4. Location settings

5. “GPS Data Source”

5.1 Does the box below state “Device GPS” ?

6. “Location Services”

6.1 Is “Location On” ?

Once above checked then…

1. Home Page

2. Open any web page in Browser

3. Select options via the BB button

4. Scroll down to Privacy & Security

5. Is “Enable Geolocation” ticked?

5.1 If not then tick it so active

6. When ticked then click the “Geolocation Permissions” box below it

7. Does that have the Fab mobile URL listed and stated as ALLOW?

7.1 If not then add the Fab mobile URL

Hope the above helps

Tried all, on BB Bold 9780, getting a message saying "coming soon" without an option to search.

Patience is a virtue, I'm sure you'll get there.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Just for more feedback, just tried a Blackberry Playbook, which, having asked for permission to access GPS, then tells me "your phone couldn't tell us your current location" in red.

Following the steps suggested below (thanks for the excellent help!) It works on BB Curve 9780; but only on the BB browser, not on Opera mini which I also have installed as it's generally a bit faster, but clearly not as good.

only have default browser and geolocation is in the options.. Have you tried searching geolocation in the support section of the BB website for your phone?

that suggests your phone wont pass your location data to fab.. So fab wont be able to recognise where you are
