"Lumia "

Lumias may have a problem with location detection in Fab.

Who's Windows version are you using op? 7, 8, 10?

Specific issue?

Which handset do you have? HP etc? Latest 10 software version from updates? I'm on 10.0.15063.483 atm and Fab states there's an issue, though lists nearby people online now or in the last few minutes, which is promising

Are your Lumias using Windows 8 or 10?

After months of no "who is near", today it has started working again on both my windows phones.. Haven't changed anything, so looks like whatever the issue was has been addressed....

Yeh, I'm on Lumia, still runs windows 8, and ita pit me off windows phones for life.

Won't be updating or buying new.

Definately gonna stick to android and Ubuntu phones.

Mainly as no serious app makers bother to touch win phone, and too unreliable.

But in the meantime it'd be handy to know if I can have location on for specific sites, like fab, without nosey bastard google etc getting in on the act.

Possible?

On windows 8.1 you can be requested to show your location whenever you visit a site like Fab that requests it. I'm using Windows 10 arm, so can't take a look to see the exact options on my 640.

Imo Windows Mobile is the best operating system, but whilst they continue to update it, there isn't great public pushing for much other than universal apps that work on multiple platforms, including mobile, pc, Xbox etc - it does make sense to have simpler coordinated apps. Their bigger focus is upon faster chip hardware software, that's going on in the background. Their minority profile for mobile is a huge disappointment, as I perceive it superior to the others. But with their OS and Office incomes, mobile isn't significant enough to them, until they invent a game changer that's not like another me-too flat screen phone.
