Me and my other half are just headed out to NZ for a couple of weeks and would love to check out the lifestyle and visit a club or 2 while we are there

Any recommendations?

Manchester(ish).

Unless the scene has changed and there's more now.

There's 1 club in Auckland called CCK.

It's good, and its the only 1 I know of.
