As long as things don’t change radically, this will carry on happening g again and again. If this can at least help to bring down Trump, this will have served a purpose.

Portland has been burning for weeks.

Ferguson happens on Obama’s watch.

Irrespective of who is in charge it’s not on.

I hope it settles down.

America is in the throes of a long long internal decline, really since the 60s with the race riots and the divisions caused by the Vietnam war to name just 2

These divisions have been in America long before trump came along and will be there festering away long after he is gone and forgotten, the divisions are so deep and decisive, and all sides so polarised that no one president regardless of his ability will find a solution to satisfy all sides, the future for America is bleak, throw into the mix the hundreds of millions of military grade guns held by the citizens, makes one shudder,

You have something similar in the UK where the EU has for years been blamed for all of Britain's problems and a vote for Brexit was promised as a solution to all problems, now Brexit is done and all the problems are still there

Well he certainly did very little to ease those tensions ..quite the opposite in fact.

I do think America is a powder keg.

Newcastle and Gateshead

okay quick crib notes...

Jacob blake.. a unarmed black man, gets shot 7 times in the back by a white police officer... blake lucky to survive, but looks like he may now be paralysed from the waist down...

policemen placed on desk duty, not charged

cue, fury, a la george floyd murder.... part of town go up in protests which turn nasty...

on night 2 of protests, 2 protesters are shot dead... it looks like it was done by someone from a "far right militia" who crossed state lines (from illinois to wisconsin) to do this, it also looks like police did noting to stop him.. not only that they gave him bottles of water....

police arrested a 17yr old back in illinois...

cue where were are now..... and this is where is gets really awkward

buzzfeed are publishing pictures of said 17 yr old kid, in the front row of a trump rally earlier on in the year (pre covid)

the NBA milwaukee bucks players have boycotted their playoff game this afternoon (irony being 1 of the current players is in the middle of a lawsuit against wisconsin police for an assault by an officer at 2am in the morning outside a 24hr pharmancy, his crime was barking across a handicap bay in am empty car park!) ... this was swiftly followed by the 2 other nba playoff games that were due to happen tonight.... this has now spread into baseball as well

You missed a bit.

The part where the police where called to a domestic disturbance involving a convicted domestic abuser with an outstanding warrant that isnt supposed to be there (as stated in the police call, likely a restraining order), has taken the womans keys (not yet confirmed if the keys are for the car he tried to enter), had told police he had a knife (which has been been confirmed), has a conviction for assaulting police (and others), resisted arrest, had already been tazered, disobayed orders to stop and tried to either escape in a car with his kids in or get something out of the car, potentially a gun for all the police knew.

Not quite the innocent 'victim'. No doubt someone will say that they didnt have to shoot him but thats easy to say when you arent the one putting your own life on the line to deal with it. Police are shot and killed in the blink of an eye. Here is just one example, there are many more -

https://news.sky.com/story/glasses-cam-shows-moment-south-carolina-police-officer-shot-in-neck-10983043

Not only that, imagine he had gotten away in the car with 3 kids in the back, there would be outrage for letting them be endangered and them getting hurt in the process doesnt bare thinking about.

Long story short, don't break the law and when a cop with a gun tells you to stop, stop.

From the footage you can see him brawling with Officers and then going for something in his car.

This is one where the officers will walk I feel.

The family are calling for calm and their wishes should be heeded.

Long story short, don't break the law and when a cop with a gun tells you to stop, stop.

So I’ll add to that part since you want to justify what happened.

There were no additional weapons in the car (That’s been confirmed)

Yes comply with police officers and if you don’t there should be consequences, but to justify him being shot 7 times with his back turned with his children in close range is ridiculous.

There are plenty of times where police have killed individuals who have complied with their orders as well.

The police put their lives on the line everyday and I won’t take that away from them but they are trained to deal with these situations & to neutralise threats.

If the police get scared and their instinct is to just shoot then something is wrong.

You really think he would’ve gotten away had he not been shot 7 times? The officer had no fear grabbing his vest he kept shooting him.

If resisting arrest & breaking law means you should be killed instantly, then a lot of people should be dead if thats the theory you want to go by.

Because there are plenty of instances where people have resisted arrest to the point of where they have assaulted the police, even shot at the police (Which isn’t right) and still lived to tell the tale without being shot."

Multiple news platforms indicate a knife recovered in the car.

I’m not saying it was the right call as there were children directly in the car.

They will walk from this.

The man walks round the front of the car with the policeman pulling his white t shirt. And the 3 of the police could have over powered him easily & used pepper spray x 3

Then he is shot through his back & times.

Attempted murder - 7 bullets

I worry that all this disorder plays right into the hands of Trump who is going for the law and order vote.

The footage from DC of the diner being threatened by the mob for not holding her arm up being Murdoched round the world 24/7. Mobs burning businesses to the ground.

Unfortunately, you will always get people who won't admit what is happening. They won't openly say it's ok for a black man to be shot in the back 7 times, I kinda wish they would. At least you would know their true position then.

No, what is ridiculous is thinking that the police should risk their life on a game of 'wait and see if i get shot or not'.

You can try to play down how much of a threat he was all you like but he had already been tazered and managed to fight his way out, the cop isnt psychic to know there was no gun in the car he was reaching into and beside, the knife he was confirmed to have had could easily have killed the cop with one blow.

Maybe he could have just shot him once but there are lots of instances of people fighting on after being shot.

The cop in kenosha had to make a split second decision, they had given the guy plenty of warnings and it is no secret that if you make the cop fear for his life you risk your own. Jacob blake made that choice

So I’ll add to that part.

If the police get scared and their instinct is to just start shooting then something is wrong.

Do you really think he would’ve gotten away had he not been shot 7 times? The officer had no fear when grabbing his vest as he kept shooting him.

If resisting arrest & breaking law means you should be killed instantly, then a lot of people should be dead if thats the theory you want to go by.

Because there are plenty of instances where people have resisted arrest to the point of where they have assaulted the police, even shot at the police (Which isn’t right) and still lived to tell the tale without being shot.

I’m not playing down any threats at all, I even said there should be consequences if you don’t comply

So because the police are risking their lives they should assume someone is armed, even if they are

That split decision could kill someone who doesn’t deserve to be killed, which has happened before.

Like you said if you don’t comply you should be shot.

Please..

the NBA milwaukee bucks players have boycotted their playoff game this afternoon (irony being 1 of the current players is in the middle of a lawsuit against wisconsin police for an assault by an officer at 2am in the morning outside a 24hr pharmancy, his crime was barking across a handicap bay in am empty car park!) ... this was swiftly followed by the 2 other nba playoff games that were due to happen tonight.... this has now spread into baseball as well

Not only that, imagine he had gotten away in the car with 3 kids in the back, there would be outrage for letting them be endangered and them getting hurt in the process doesnt bare thinking about.

Long story short, don't break the law and when a cop with a gun tells you to stop, stop.

So I’ll add to that part.

What was your take on George Floyd??

George Floyd didn’t deserve to die in such a cruel public way. It was no game.

Which means it's acceptable for armed militia to come in and so what they want?"

Slightly more acceptable than making a race riot out of something that wasn't racist and then using it as an excuse to burn a town to the ground, brick a police officer in the head, try to seal police into a building then set fire to it....

When the towns mayor is protecting the town and its businesses its not surprising people take it upon themselves.

What was your take on George Floyd??

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

George Floyd didn’t deserve to die in such a cruel public way. It was no game.

Can only blame himself for taking that overdose"

He deserved to die with a knee on his neck, no threat to a police officer at all?

"okay quick crib notes...

So I’ll add to that part.

Please.. "

They didnt shoot him for not complying, they shot him when he became a perceived threat to their own life.

Long story short, don't break the law and when a cop with a gun tells you to stop, stop.

Which means it's acceptable for armed militia to come in and so what they want?

Slightly more acceptable than making a race riot out of something that wasn't racist and then using it as an excuse to burn a town to the ground, brick a police officer in the head, try to seal police into a building then set fire to it....

When the towns mayor is protecting the town and its businesses its not surprising people take it upon themselves."

Superb.

Okay... a few things need to be corrected from mellows allegations.....

1) Jacob brooks does NOT have a criminal record..... repeat NOT have a criminal record

2) he did have an outstanding arrest warrant for 3rd degree sexual assault, trespass and disorderly conduct... that stems from an incident last month

3) under Wisconsin state law, 3rd degree sexual assault is defined as “touching someone sexually without consent” what that is NOT is the 4 letter word beginning with R that is banned here.... it is also NOT penertration of any sort... with anything! So if for example I grabbed a boob, that is 3rd degree sexual assault, if I grabbed or slapped your arse, that is 3rd degree assault or if I did what trump likes to do in the access Hollywood tape... that is 3rd degree sexual assault

4) you know that whole “innocent until proven guilty thing”.... that.... therefore refer back to point 1...

5) if he was really that much of a danger why let him walk all the way around the car, when he is in front of you all the time, to then let him turn around, to then shoot him 7 times in the back from point blank range

6) refer back to 1

Dear lord what part of no criminal record do you not understand

No he doesn’t have a criminal record until he is convicted of a crime.... this charges have not been brought up against a judge or jury! He has not had any other criminal charges brought up against him in the past so these would be his first offences .... they may even be pleaded Down! What he has been charged with are considered misdemeanours and not felonies!

All of these if if ifs you use are meaningless because they didn’t happen! He shot him 7 times in the back, you don’t shoot someone on a presumption

Whatever George Floyd did before doesn’t matter whatever he was doing at the time didn’t matter.

He simply did not deserve for the Officer to act as judge jury and executioner and to be killed in such a slow cruel public manner.

Add to that the fact that his life was seemingly worth that little to the officer with his hands in his pockets and playing up to the camera.

From the american bar association regarding police shooting suspects-

"Four years later in Graham v. Connor, the court held that the question of whether an officer used excessive force “requires careful attention to the facts and circumstances of each particular case, including the severity of the crime at issue, whether the suspect poses an immediate threat to the safety of the officers or others, and whether he is actively resisting arrest or attempting to evade arrest by flight.”

The 9-0 decision found the “reasonableness of a particular use of force must be judged from the perspective of a reasonable officer on the scene, and its calculus must embody an allowance for the fact that police officers are often forced to make split-second decisions about the amount of force necessary in a particular situation.”"

So, evading arrest (by trying to get to the car), immediate threat (potential gun in door pocket and admitted to having a knife), and endangering life (endangering the kids life in the event of a chase, or just simply using the car as a deadly weapon against the police)

I make that a hat trick.

And he was definitely guilty of not staying away from the ex partners house that he 'allegedly' sexually assaulted.

It’s sad that I commented from a potential legal standpoint and I get named as defending them. There is no objectivity anymore it seems.

It shuts down debate on an important issue.

Ok that happening doesn’t help the cause and I’ve already said when someone else has used this to diminish the BLM.

What those guys did tormenting that diner is bad & I won’t justify, but using that as excuse to shut down the entire cause of ending racial injustice is pretty lazy.

Look all the BLM protests worldwide supporting the cause, some have resulting in rioting but a lot have been peaceful and have United a lot of people from all backgrounds together.

I can’t answer that.

How m many more incidents of racial injustice has to occur before the world will acknowledge that there’s a problem?

Not really sure what you think this proves. Of course there will be some dickheads involved in BLM. You can't take any group of people and not find dickheads.

Doesn't change the fact that police in the US keep killing black people and that protesting this is valid.

"okay quick crib notes...

So I’ll add to that part.

Unfortunately, you will always get people who won't admit what is happening. They won't openly say it's ok for a black man to be shot in the back 7 times, I kinda wish they would. At least you would know their true position then. "

when have you ever read a post we’re you would think someone thinks that is ok I don’t think any normal person thinks a black man been shot 7 times is ok they would have to be sick in the head ffs

It is funny then there is all this outrage when a black guy gets shot, but other races dont matter.

Face it, he did not comply, he got shot, the officers will not be charged and they shouldnt be.

No not case closed, because they did the wrong thing.

In your train of thought if someone doesn’t comply with the police they should be shot on sight then.

It is funny how you try to play with words. I call a person a criminal who commits a crime, not the one who has a criminal record. By that logic, if someone kills a person and manages to not get caught, is he an innocent man now?Because he doesnt have a criminal record?

so read up of the post that i put up before... actually... i'll save you having to do that!

1) Jacob blake does NOT have a criminal record..... repeat NOT have a criminal record

2) he did have an outstanding arrest warrant for 3rd degree sexual assault, trespass and disorderly conduct... that stems from an incident last month

3) under Wisconsin state law, 3rd degree sexual assault is defined as “touching someone sexually without consent” what that is NOT is the 4 letter word beginning with R that is banned here.... it is also NOT penetration of any sort... with anything! So if for example I grabbed a boob, that is 3rd degree sexual assault, if I grabbed or slapped your arse, that is 3rd degree sexual assault or if I did what trump likes to do in the access Hollywood tape... that is 3rd degree sexual assault

4) you know that whole “innocent until proven guilty thing”.... that.... therefore refer back to point 1...

5) if he was really that much of a danger why let him walk all the way around the car, when he is in front of you all the time, to then let him turn around, to then shoot him 7 times in the back from point blank range

6) refer back to 1

so that is worth 7 shots in the back at point blank range is it?

"

why you keep banging about his criminal record? It doesn't matter. He got shot because he did not comply with officers orders. Do you understand that? If he had the longest criminal record in America and complied with the orders, he would not have been shot. Simple as that

because if you call him and criminal... and he isn't.... then people will call you out on it!

and you obviously dont read.... because:

and again, I call someone a criminal who commits a crime, not by the their criminal record on paper.

Why cops waited? Maybe because they did not want to shoot him, but in the end he just carried on reaching into the car? Simple logic? Not all cops are bad, its that simple
