I side with Macron. No country should give way to muslim victimhood which is nothing of the sort.

Macron isnt anti islam, he's anti islamic terrorism. Erdogan should look at his own vicious eradication of Kurds and keep his mouth shut.

Macron all the way.

Practice religion at home.

No religious schools including C of E and catholic.

States should have no religious input and teach all religions without bias. It should be in the history lesson.

Religion is just fear of death and prays on the ignorant with the promise of everlasting life.

Yes I’ll shout and pray when my planes going down in flames but otherwise it’s all bollocks!

If it comforts people then fine. Fill your boots as long as you preach be nice.

And Erdogan had the balls to go to Germany and tell the Turkish people not to integrate into German society

Not being able to choose between a guy who’se defending freedom of speech and opposing acts of terrorism and another who’s criticising this stance. Hats off!

You got two leaders vying for prestige in their own respective spheres of influence.

Their rhetoric is inflammatory, instead of actual leadership and appealling for calm rational behaviour, you got Macron doing the tough on terror dance, and Erdogan doing the defender of Islam.

People seem to miss the point that a man died because hear say caused another man to get all self righteous and offended and went on to kill.

That is the problem, people shit stirring and it becomes violent.

It happens every day. Someone makes a mountain out of a molehill, then it becomes big and divisive.

What utter knobs.

Macron is doing the right thing by condemning extremism and terrorism. France is a secular country and it intends to remain a secular country that defends freedom of speech and the freedom of press. The other one is a dictator that has sent to prison thousands of opponents and who’s using this as an opportunity to divert attention and to flex his muscles.

There’s nothing inflammatory in what Macron has said. He’s holding his ground and he’s defending the values and principles the French live by. He’s got no lesson to be taught by a dictator who has blood on his hands.

To equate a leader defending freedom of speech and liberty and a religious maniac defending barbarism is utterly contemptible. Shame on you

Come on get some context, Macron has elections soon, and he needs to show some balls or his career is over.

Call me cynical, but in politics every opportunity to get the people to keep you in power is taken, look closer to home and the same thing happens.

Freedom of speech is a good get of jail free card for any halfwit.

Ppl seem to forget that freedom of speech does not include the freedom to be stupid.

Lol. The election in France is the municipal elections’. The French will be choosing the mayor of their village or their town. They are by far the least important of all elections in France. Macron is not going to get out of job because of this!

For something who’s implying that some people are halfwits or stupid, it is a fairly stupid argument to use!

They have decided to boycott the Carrefour in Qatar that’ll teach the French.

My Instagram feed blew up yesterday with some boxers I follow threatening all sorts to Macron. It’s being seen as a full blown attack on Islam.

Well he had to deflect somehow from his stance on fishing and try and get some countries back on his side.

"cant see turkey joining the eu anytime soon."

They never had a shot due to their resolution to hold claims over the following territories:

Cyprus

Coastal shelves of;

Cyprus

Crete

Certain areas 10 miles into Greek territorial waters.

Not to mention human right records, suppression of citizens - eg Turkish Kurds, suppression of freedom of speech.

These have consistently got worse from 2014 onwards.

Face it, Turkey was never going to get to join the EU without significant cultural and political overhaul, which there isn't the will for nationally.

It was a simple scare tactic in 2015-2016.

******

To stick my banners to the mast, I side with Macron for multiple reasons, see many above, but to summate; Turkey is drifting rapidly away from the vision of Attuturk's secular and modern Turkey, and dangerously coming close to being a rogue state.

Every election is important as they are a gauge of opinion on the current administration.

People seem to forget cause and effect also, thinking every action is isolated and unimportant. They are the real thickos.

I will say it, some people are stupid, and halfwits, with intellectual capacity of guppies.

That’s why we have extremism, because the dumbos think they are smart lol.

French 1789 Declaration Human and civic rights.

Freedom of expression is considered an “essential freedom” in France.[1] It is protected by the French Constitution, which incorporates the Declaration of Human and Civic Rights of 1789.[2] Articles 10 and 11 of the Declaration protect freedoms of opinion and expression, describing the “free communication of ideas and of opinions” as “one of the most precious rights of man.”[3] Similarly, the European Convention on Human Rights, by which France is bound, provides that “[e]veryone has the right to freedom of expression,” including “freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.”[4]

So yes you are free to say what you like even if you’re an idiot!! Your not restricted by intellectual limits!

So there are restrictions on freedom of speech!

So hate speech for example which many idiots say is “free speech” is not covered.

So I refer back to my earlier point, freedom of speech does not automatically give you the freedom to be an idiot.

It happens every day. Someone makes a mountain out of a molehill, then it becomes big and divisive.

What utter knobs.

Again, an utterly contemptible position to take. Macron claims his intention to tackle radical Islam and in response Erdogan calls for a boycott of French products and you seem to think that they're just as bad as each other

Oh and freedom of speech does include the right of halfwits to say stupid things

Prove it. Wheres your evidence? Provide me the legal text relating to stupidity and free speech, and the inalienable right of individuals to say stupid shit?

Great you failed to mention the ICCPR

The version of Article 19 in the ICCPR later amends this by stating that the exercise of these rights carries "special duties and responsibilities" and may "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "[f]or respect of the rights or reputation of others" or "[f]or the protection of national security or of public order (order public), or of public health or morals".

So there are restrictions on freedom of speech!

So hate speech for example which many idiots say is “free speech” is not covered.

So I refer back to my earlier point, freedom of speech does not automatically give you the freedom to be an idiot.

It doesn't give you the right to be a violence inciting idiot. Might I suggest starting a new thread on this subject if that's what you want to discuss

Again, equating Macron's position to Erdogan's is contemptible

Which is true, violence never solves anything, it just perpetuates more violence, so the violent crackdown on Muslims in france because of one mans sickening behaviour is that justified?

I think its a kneejerk reaction by a lazy politician,

Erdogan equally had a kneejerk reaction to the incident also, which is also lazy.

Both are dicks.

And to whom was the teacher that had his head removed violent?"

Well duhhh.....

Lol. The election in France is the municipal elections’. The French will be choosing the mayor of their village or their town. They are by far the least important of all elections in France. Macron is not going to get out of job because of this!

For something who’s implying that some people are halfwits or stupid, it is a fairly stupid argument to use!

Every election is important as they are a gauge of opinion on the current administration.

People seem to forget cause and effect also, thinking every action is isolated and unimportant. They are the real thickos.

I will say it, some people are stupid, and halfwits, with intellectual capacity of guppies.

That’s why we have extremism, because the dumbos think they are smart lol."

Just explain why a defeat in the municipal election would be the ‘end of his career’. When voting for their mayor, the French hardly cares about the party the candidate is in. They vote for the person. It’s slightly different in big cities but these elections are not going to end his political life!

Difficult to find the right answer to this but turning the other cheek is probably not the right thing to do either. When you see that some people are offended here by what Macron has recently said, it shows how difficult it is to find the right tactics.

"

Which is specific to hate speech and denial of such things as the holocaust if you keep reading.

The words incite and hate are the amendments.

The hate and incite in this case was on Facebook commuted by the parents of the children in the school. They invited the violence.

Macron has defended freedom of expression and the cartoon was in no way hatred or incitement of violence towards the Muslim population.

If a Scotsman tells an Irish joke in a bar are you inciting violence towards the Irish? Of course you’re not.

Incited the violence that should say.

Update another beheading in Nice.

Years ago Christians attacked the Muslims but we started to be better educated and realised everyone was free to believe what they liked.

The ignorance of the few uneducated extremists and the support given by their religious leaders is a disgrace.

Macron gets my support,, not really him but the freedom of the french people. And yes I include non violent Muslims in that.

Interesting fact . The worlds leading council of Muslim intellectuals studying the Koran agreed that Alcohol is not banned by the Koran. Only wine.

But do you see the local mosque elders sharing that fact??

No . Suppress and control the faithful

Yes so do I and if you try to drive on the causeway between Saudi and Abu Dhabi on a Thursday night you will see thousands of the so-called strict Muslims heading for a weekend of booze and playing.

Not easy to take the right decisions. France has brushed this issue under the carpet for too long.

Bottom line is that France is a democracy, a secular country where freedom is speech is sacrosanct. If these barbars don’t like it, they can get lost and find a place that lives by the values they believe in.

"

See there lies in the problem, some people would shrug off and accept it. But some people wouldn’t

we call the ones who wouldn’t terrorists and they are the ones who would more likely commit the acts of violence.

Macron is a dick, he added fuel to a volatile situation and perpetuated the cycle.

Erdogan is a dick because added even more fuel to make the situation even worse.

Is like these guys want us to have some culture war or something, I am not prepared for people in power to lead us into down the path of our own self destruction!

"You got two leaders vying for prestige in their own respective spheres of influence.

"I side with Macron. No country should give way to muslim victimhood which is nothing of the sort.

Macron isnt anti islam, he's anti islamic terrorism. Erdogan should look at his own vicious eradication of Kurds and keep his mouth shut."

Yep. Plus he's obviously trying to be a big player geopolitically, so taking a leaf out of Putins playbook and doing anything to destabilise 'The West'.

If it encourages violence then so be it.

Cf Trump.

Just wondering if he'd turn down economic/medical / logistical help now after the earthquake.

It's not really a culture war. We westerners just need to accept that some people when offended by cartoons, will cut old lady's heads off in churches. And thats fine, it's just "there way". Don't expect their community to apologise for it, instead expect protests about the cartoon.

Why should their community apologise for an individuals actions for? It like saying us westerners apologising for that twat who shot those muslims in christchurch.

Did we have anything to do for that sicko’s actions?

It’s important that we are together and agree that people who think that murder and mayhem to push their evil agendas is an affront to the whole of civilisation itself.

We need to be united against those who want to oppress us.

The sooner we realise we are not enemies but hostages to the same problems, the sooner we can defeat these evils and move together in peace and harmony.

One world is all we have.

Right to protest is just as much a right as freedom of expression is.

I may not agree with people’s held views on what they protest about, but you cannot expect people not to exercise their right to protest.

It’s like EDL marches, nobody likes them but if they conduct them peacefully then what can anyone do about it?

In the same respect, if Fight against Facism want to counter protest peacefully then what can EDL do about it?

It’s a flawed argument, because you can argue the same thing when a terror attack is committed by an individual who belongs to another group.

Good example, you were walking down the street and you saw a muslim, do you expect them to say sorry for all the terror attacks conducted by people they have had no association with?

In the same respect should muslims ask you to apologize for the all terror attacks which were committed by far right terrorists.

For too long certain people are missing the point, murder is wrong, death of innocents is wrong.

Politicians who use attacks as a method to push their agenda in the aftermath as a means to sow discord are wrong.

We need to reach out and support those groups who condemn violent acts done in their name, instead of pushing them away and further into the hands these extremists.

I am certain that if we create dialogue we can enable these groups to stop these extreme elements from peddling hate.

My point is that you keep telling us that the whole Muslim world should not apologise for one individual. There have plenty of attacks in France and also in the UK. I’d like to see the Muslim world step up and condemn these attacks more vehemently.

Macron didn't condemn Muslims, he condemned Muslim extremists

You clearly seem to believe he was wrong to do this and have nailed your flag to the mast for all to see

Like I said previously, it's interesting (and disturbing) to see how far the rot has set in"

Again the trap, did you see it? MUSLIM extremists. It then creates a pigeonhole, which then feeds into the all muslims are terrorists bullshit.

If you are referring to the fact that Extremism is a bad thing and the death of people is wrong then of course I am against that, does that mean that you are an extremist and like violence?

"It's not really a culture war.

Don’t Muslim have enough brain cells to tell the difference between the words ‘Muslim’ and ‘Muslim extremist’. If you believe that this is the case, you are the one who take them for thickos and who is racist. I believe they are perfectly capable to make the difference.

When I hear about white supremacists in America, I don’t feel targeted. Should I? Should I go and kill some Democrats who use these words? Get real! You’re trying to defend the indefensible.

"You got two leaders vying for prestige in their own respective spheres of influence.

So I refer back to my earlier point, freedom of speech does not automatically give you the freedom to be an idiot."

someone tell "are tommeh" this please

I am certain that if we create dialogue we can enable these groups to stop these extreme elements from peddling hate.

Macron didn't condemn Muslims, he condemned Muslim extremists

You clearly seem to believe he was wrong to do this and have nailed your flag to the mast for all to see

Like I said previously, it's interesting (and disturbing) to see how far the rot has set in

Err what exactly did you want him to say? Who exactly do you think is beheading people on the streets of Paris?

I dont know anybody else who shouts aluha akbar while they slaughter innocent people

But hey, you think Macron is just as bad as Erdogan so I don't really see any point in having a rational conversation with you

I think dickheads be dickheads, it doesn’t matter where they are from or what they do.

We cannot move forward unless we stop the hate, unite as citizens of the world and stop extremism in all forms.

We need to be extending the olive branch not the sword!

Tough rhetoric makes us look like assholes on the world stage.

Sorry? People have been decapitated and you think Macron is extending the sword? I can only assume you're no longer being serious

But hey, it's useful know your mindset

Of course a terrible thing, but I feel you’re the one being disingenuous.

We need to be moving toward a path of peace and understanding, yet it feels you are ramping up the rhetoric which is not good.

The best people reach out and find a path to peace, the worst prolong and exacerbate the situation.

Both politicians could have done things differently, but they made this issue even worse.

Only good people can stop this escalation. So the question is this, should we want peace, and a better future for the world?

Extend the hand of peace to people that decapitate innocents for exercising their rights in a free society? Your position is utterly contemptible as I said before

Go love your own enemies, don't be loving mine

I meant the muslim community in general, but my question now is why do you hate muslims so much?"

Nobody, including Macron attacked muslims, he rightly stood up for a free republic against Muslim extremists. I'd like to know why you love extremists so much

"It's not really a culture war.

I’ll reiterate again what you have ignored in several occasions so far. Where have you been in the past five years? As if this action was the only terrorist attack in France or in the U.K.

And your point is?

My point is that you keep telling us that the whole Muslim world should not apologise for one individual. There have plenty of attacks in France and also in the UK. I’d like to see the Muslim world step up and condemn these attacks more vehemently.

I don’t like extremists, but I see how you try to be clever and dodge a straighforward question.

I say we need peaceful resolution to all problems, you disagree. Who is the real extremist? Seems I am the only grown up in this conversation, so I will let it go.

TTFN.
