Remainers should leave the UK

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

This has been suggested a good few times on the forum here.

I'm interested to know more about the mindset of the various people who have said this.

What's the reasoning and logic behind wanting remain voting people to leave, and how far would you take it.

Nobody wants remain voters to leave. Well, except for maybe one or two politicians so that we don't have have to listen to their moaning bollocks on our TV screens any longer. All that some people have suggested is that if some remainers find living in the EU so appealing and wonderful, why don't they just move to a country that is still inside the EU?

I voted remain as I believe we are stronger together.I have no plans to leave the UK as I am born and raised here and the UK is my home.As we approach 31st December when we leave the EU plenty of people will be celebrating and looking forward with optimism I will look forward with caution the fact that the vote was so close tells me no one is really certain what the future holds which is why I look forward with caution.

Interesting.

So it's opposition MPs. How far would you take that thought, should there be no opposition party to question and "moan" about the government?

The opposition party should not be about moaning and questioning, it should be about presenting a "viable alternative" and at the moment labour are so far out of touch with the people, they are not viable, consequently leaving the UK population, having to accept the lesser of the 2 evils.

The argument and debate about EU membership is over. They should concentrate on something else

Why should the opposition present a viable alternative? It's neither theirs nor the "remainers" responsibility. The best deal the UK had was the status quo. That is the alternative.

The Tories have been negotiating with the EU for four years. They have had four years to sort things out. Brexit is entirely on them, success or failure.

I am going to stay here and Piss and Moan about leaving the EU just as anyone who Pissed and moaned about leaving since we joined did ...

I’m going to bang on and on about rejoining the EU just as long as there is breath in my body , just like the Brexshiters whom have now passed away did ...

We needed Brexshit to happen , old adversaries needed to out themselves . To show themselves for what they really are ..

Now each individual “ united “ Kingdom can take a good deep look at its self ,

A cleansing process in which to clean its grubby little paws. ..

Negotiators will continue to negotiate with Europe for ever and a day . There will be tweeks and adjustments , more agreements, treaty’s and concessions to be made .

What if Brexshit was a way to throw the moaning , pissing , obnoxious little island out the room , till it had got over its tantrum of self importance , and meekly asked to be allowed back in the room .. ?

We have walked away from Europe as far as we dare ! that has been proven by the sheer blind panic in the end of a no deal scenario ..

So on the 1st of January not only do we leave the EU , it’s also the day we start making our way back towards it .. One so often needs to be cruel to be kind .

So I for one will be here pissing and moaning about the state of the nation post Brexshit , and watch our youth lead us back towards unity ..

As for leavers and Brexshitters .. ? I will meet you all at graveyard .. judging by your profiles most of you are in a similar position to me ... Not long left to enjoy whatever it is you believe you won ..

It will all become clearer in the next couple of weeks. Nobody in their right mind wants it to be a failure but I'd be a bit more optimistic if I hadn't spent the last 4 years listening to lies and bullshit. Even Johnson's latest speech lied about non tariff barriers. The BBC called it "a mistake". It's not, it's a lie.

For me the worst aspect of the whole saga is that the racists and bigots have become emboldened, and that just fuels the toxic fire. Who would have thought that wanting people of a different skin colour to not be killed would be a controversial opinion?

Not at all, you’re quite welcome to stay, it’s great that you’ve changed your mind and now agree that Brexit is a good thing for the country, it’s a sign of great intelligence to admit you were wrong.

and yet you support an institution that lets people of a different colour drown in the Med. An institution that has thrown a protective barrier around 'white' Europe and punishes developing countries with tariffs. An institution that has never had a black president or even a black commissioner and has very few black MEP's and will be even less diverse now that the UK has left. You support an institution that is run by white people for white people but are too blinded by the narrative that you don't even realise it

Ok so let’s give that load of old bollox some credence for a moment .

So you advocate running away from such a racist institution, when we where in fact involved at the very top and minorities whom would have looked towards our support have seen Britain do nothing of the kind . In stead just to watch us walk away and leave them to their own devices .. ?

Minorities? That would be a Home Secretary who is so desperate to be a different colour that she introduces rules that would deport her own parents, and a Chancellor richer than the Queen.

The Uk was an had been hugely influential in the formation of the European Union . In fact with the surprise collapse of the USSR .. it was Britain who stressed the importance of integrating former soviet states into Europe by offering free trade and other benefits to these country’s . The alternative of course was watching countries fall into crises and war similar to the former Yugoslavia and the surrounding Balkans ..

It was in no way an act of arrogance , indeed due to Great Britain being involved in so many wars and occupation throughout history . British diplomacy was revered throughout the world , indeed we were encouraged to seek and find diplomatic solutions to a host of problems brought on by large scale integration .. And it brought about our comparitive economic success and added to the world view that we were a nation who could be relied on , which of course after Suez had been deeply deminshed .

Unfortunately for British diplomacy it has now been seen like the beach of Dunkirk , where we simply ran away to save our own ass and then blamed the French !!

Couple on this thread. Three or four over other threads.

It's a fairly regularly mentioned.

And it's interesting to see people elaborate on it, and how far people go on it.

"What is there to worry about, the country has been in worse situations, if remain don't like it let them leave, cant be all bad has none have left have they . "

So do you think remainers who still don't like brexit should leave, should they be forced out?

"It will all become clearer in the next couple of weeks.

Who would have thought that wanting people of a different skin colour to not be killed would be a controversial opinion?

and yet you support an institution that lets people of a different colour drown in the Med.

I've always thought the idea "UK should stay to make changes" as being a very arrogant position. If they could have that sort of influence why had they not already effected those changes?

Lol what are you talking about, Britain had nothing to do with forming the European Union. Comedian.

"

I think you will find minorities at the top of UK government, maybe you should consider why they wanted to 'run' away

Minorities? That would be a Home Secretary who is so desperate to be a different colour that she introduces rules that would deport her own parents, and a Chancellor richer than the Queen.

Desperate to be a different colour? Jeez and you call other people bigots and racists?

Maybe "so proud of her heritage that she introduces rules that would deport her own parents" might be a better phrase but the point still stands, and you didn't disagree.

No she didn't. And you have a problem with a man of Asian descent being wealthy? If that isn't racist I don't know what is. Do you think he's some kind of traitor to his race? Should he be a left wing socialist, lack aspiration? Know his place? Ffs

As the saying goes, don't play chess with pigeons.

"a healthy wedge of cash" is not needed at all, as an example get a job offer, also still possible, or as an example Bulgaria asks for only 500euro in an account, or proof of self reliance, i.e a pension.

"a healthy wedge of cash" is not needed at all, as an example get a job offer, also still possible, or as an example Bulgaria asks for only 500euro in an account, or proof of self reliance, i.e a pension. "

Ok so I ain’t got a pension , can afford 500 euros though .. not sure there is bugger all going on in Bulgaria but for 500 Euro’s if my kids get education and free health care , i will do any job really .. I’ve got a good trade ..and as others have said it’s only a “ bit “ more paperwork and ink ain’t expensive ..

So sod it ... I’m gonna do it ... I will keep you informed as to how my progress is going ...

"Nobody wants remain voters to leave. Well, except for maybe one or two politicians so that we don't have have to listen to their moaning bollocks on our TV screens any longer. All that some people have suggested is that if some remainers find living in the EU so appealing and wonderful, why don't they just move to a country that is still inside the EU?

You took our right to do that away remember

Not true people can still move it just means a little more paperwork. If people really want it they can get it.

"This has been suggested a good few times on the forum here.

I'm interested to know more about the mindset of the various people who have said this.

What's the reasoning and logic behind wanting remain voting people to leave, and how far would you take it. od like to know for a fact how many leavers have actually said this it’s got a smell of fake news to me mate asif your trying to stir shit up ?

Couple on this thread. Three or four over other threads.

It's a fairly regularly mentioned.

And it's interesting to see people elaborate on it, and how far people go on it.so one couple howay mate yr better than this shit wish it was just one couple who call leaver voters racists traitors thick uneducated simpltons I’d rather get told to fuck off than a racist wouldn’t you ?

Neither is great.

Bring told to leave the country is especially interesting though. neither is great there’s not much worse than been called a racist mate and it wasn’t just one lunatic couple either make fucking loads of remainers over the yrs aswell

Why did they do that?you tell me yr a remainer what goes through someone’s head to call someone an awful name like that just for vote if a different way to them 17.4 million of them aswell all remainers must have family and friends work mates who voted leave I guess it’s just easy to call ppl names like that while hideing behind a profile on a swingers site eh ? can I ask what you think of ppl who did this ?

I dunno if I can answer the first part, being a remainer doesn't qualify me to comment on why others have generalised leavers as racists.

I think it's pointless labelling someone racist for no reason. id of thought more of you bud if you had said I think they are scum for labelling someone a racist for no reason going by that post I can guess you don’t think it’s such a bad thing calling leave voters racists

I don't know the situation you're talking about. It's hard to comment on people as a generalisation.

I don't really know what the point is here.

Obviously calling someone a racist, who isn't a racist is a shitty thing to do.

You do it

Please stop following me around the forums making up shit about me.

"

You started the thread. And I apologise if I just can't help pulling you up on your bs

I don’t expect them too , I’ve travelled quite a bit through Europe , picked up a bit of French along the way even Spanish .. My Germanic language skills need brushing up a bit for sure . My son speaks good German though and I’m sure he would help as he pointed out

“ German is easy due as the Saxons were mainly German so we share a lot of the same vocabulary..

What I have noticed though throughout Europe as I’ve Travelled a lot by motorcycle ( and I mean a lot ) English has become the major international language throughout Europe which can only be down to our major influence Europe ..Of no doubt great annoyance to the French ..

Fancy that though .. creating such a major political and cultural influence throughout a group of nations that your native language is accepted as almost a second language to many .. then turning your back on them ..

I think you are confused between the EU and Europe, UK may have turned it's back on the EU but not on Europe, nobody voted to leave Europe"

No I’m not confused , I’m quite aware of our Geographic location , the fact that we are connected via the same continental shelf etc etc etc .. which we could of course include all European countries wether they are in a union or not .. Russia for example ..

Throughout the formation and growth of the European Union ( which according to some we had no input into ) English became the pre Dominant international language .. ? Would I be correct in making that statement ?

"Nobody wants remain voters to leave. Well, except for maybe one or two politicians so that we don't have have to listen to their moaning bollocks on our TV screens any longer. All that some people have suggested is that if some remainers find living in the EU so appealing and wonderful, why don't they just move to a country that is still inside the EU?

You took our right to do that away remember

Not true people can still move it just means a little more paperwork. If people really want it they can get it.

And a healthy wedge of cash in their bank accounts.

As with all of brexit. Rich people will be fine. It's poor people who are having opportunities taken away from them.

"a healthy wedge of cash" is not needed at all, as an example get a job offer, also still possible, or as an example Bulgaria asks for only 500euro in an account, or proof of self reliance, i.e a pension.

Good luck but might be tricky if you don't speak the language. The way it always has been

Get out here .. I’m British Ffs .. they need me more than I need them .. language won’t be a barrier .. the whole world speaks English

Not in Bulgaria they don't

Hang on ! It was you that mentioned Bulgaria for only five hundred euros and 3 pieces of more paper work .. I mentioned Germany ..

So now what are you saying ..

I was hoping for a bit of help here , you seem to know a lot about it ?

YOU, never mentioned needing the population to speak English, this is Europe and none of them have English as a 1st language why would you expect them to?

Turn your back?

Yes turn our back on further participation within the EU .

You do seem to confuse easily ?

However it is Boxing Day , and the cognac is taking its toll on myself at this point so I will give you that leeway at least

If you keep moving the goal post eventually you will score a goal.... well done.

Not really correct, English has been the dominant language for many years before the EU was even thought of, partly because of our empire and partly because the USA also uses English. English is the universal language of the air and seas.

We were in a naturist place on menorca last year, about a dozen couples of which three were brits, others were dutch, french, german and a Norwegian couple they conversed with each other in English as it was the language they all learnt.

"This has been suggested a good few times on the forum here.

I'm interested to know more about the mindset of the various people who have said this.

What's the reasoning and logic behind wanting remain voting people to leave, and how far would you take it.

Remoaners and remainers are two different animals they will learn to repent for the sins"

How would you distinguish between these two groups "remainers" and "remoaners"?

Which ones would you deport?

Certainly not deport them in my opinion. There was a national debate and vote. Just because someone happens to disagree with the outcome does not mean they should be deported.

Did Brexiteers leave at any point prior to 2016? I mean if they didn’t like being in the EU why did they not just leave? Oh yeh, this is a daft as suggesting remainers should leave now! The majority of thevoting population did not ask for Brexit, just the majority who voted. It is perfectly reasonable that we live with the fact that Brexit has happened, but we pursue a preference for wanting closer alignment with the EU. After all Brexiteers have been moning for over40 years, Farage even made a great living doing it

Has there been people legitimately telling remainers they should leave because they didn’t vote for brexit? Or is it more aimed at those complaining that they cant do x y or z anymore now we’re out the Union (and if they want to continue doing x y or z so badly they can just go live on the continent)?

Bit of both.

I've seen it posted on here by leavers many times and it generally has followed the same trend.

Leavers state something as fact, remainer explains with facts and proof that it isn't correct, leaver eventually throws a "fuck off to the EU then if it's so good there" kind of comment

But if you scroll up. Some people have said it on here.

You not seeing it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

It happens fairly regularly when the leaver is shown to be talking out of their arse. One of the common come backs is "if you don't like it, leave the country".

Okay.

But to the people who have said that. I'm interested in what they're thinking. Do they want a country with only people who don't criticise brexit or the government?

"It’s just the op stiring up shit because he’s upset over Brexit iv been on the politics forums a while now and not seen any of these posts he’s made himself look a bit of a cock tbh

Thanks dude.

But if you scroll up. Some people have said it on here.

You not seeing it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

It happens fairly regularly when the leaver is shown to be talking out of their arse. One of the common come backs is "if you don't like it, leave the country".

yes I have seen the odd one like that bud amd they are a bit silly but not like it’s been made out on here iv never read any that say if remainers arnt happy then fuck off

Okay.

I don’t think they do mate think it’s a bit like telling someone to fuck of bud it’s a bit like when a remainer calls a leaver a racist do they want a country with no leave voters init lol

Its not the same thing.

I don't think anyone has suggested that leavers should, well, leave! Ha.

You're not one of the people telling remainers they should get out of the UK though. I'm more directing the question to the people who have said these things.

Nobody minds people knocking Brexit. But it's done. It was pretty much done 4 years ago despite the establishments attempts to stop it. What gets annoying is people moaning about it all day rather than doing something about it and helping themselves if they feel they've been so badly affected by it

West Wales

I haven’t posted that remainers should leave,

However I did post about the same people constantly saying it would be more difficult now to do. One even when hit with “It’s three bits of paper” was still complaining “Yeah harder”. Get a grip!

Also some complaining that it would now be the wealthy doing it as you need to be self supporting.

Well guess what? In the main it was either those with jobs to go to or self supporting retirees that went anyway. Not lazy bums hoping for handouts so nothings really changed has it?

I allso commented saying you’ve had four years in which you knew this “Difficulty” was coming yet you didn’t leave? Why not?

Four of my friends upped sticks & left with their families, one just this month.

Now a few days later we get a bit more detail & we see it’ll be less difficult as moving to Aus/NZ & plenty still move to those countries.

Maybe there’s a touch of “I missed the boat” & they want someone else to blame, I dunno but I did miss th boat & think I should have gone to NZ when I had the chance 25yrs ago but I chose to stay.

That’s life, we make decisions that later in life we think may have been errors of judgement & life now may have been different. But things like that are on you, no one else.

"Has there been people legitimately telling remainers they should leave because they didn’t vote for brexit? Or is it more aimed at those complaining that they cant do x y or z anymore now we’re out the Union (and if they want to continue doing x y or z so badly they can just go live on the continent)?

Bit of both.

When I've seen it suggested, it's been in response to criticism of Brexit. "Well if you don't like it here, leave"."

At least "you're" being offered a solution, calling leavers racist is just low down insults..... see the difference? leavers are more positive!

Not at all, they should stay and spend the rest of their lives thanking the leavers for the heaven sent opportunities they have been given.

Whilst the leavers watch as they cut off their noses to spite their face.

Were those who voted leave at the negotiating table? What am I thanking them for?

Do you really think most who voted leave did so for better opportunities?

We're literally leaving worse off than we were when in the EU. The UK is cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Stop being ridiculous, leavers were warned that marching off a cliff might be harmful to their wellbeing. Well now you're going to find out if that is the case. I think it will be reality rather than remain voters will offer proof you're referring to.

I can confirm We have added costs for exports due to customs. I can confirm that HMRC calculated based on today’s level of exports that the cost to U.K. business for customs is around £20 Billion. .

Think that’s a tangible loss and can be proved by the end of next week as a real cost.

Haulage rates are expected to follow an upwards trend due to delays and paperwork diversions. We’ve had six direct increases on this front confirmed already. More to follow. No idea what that will be to Uk business in total. I will confidently bet it runs into Billions.

Let's see. As part of the Withdrawal agreement, the UK accepted an customs border between the UK and Northern Ireland. Unionists in N Ireland see this (correctly imo) as the first step in an economic united Ireland. The UK cannot practice free trade within it's national borders. Residents of Northern Ireland that hold an Irish Passport will still be entitled to EHIC and students from NI will still be eligible for the Erasmus scheme (paid for by the republic of Ireland). The quip this side of the water is that Boris Johnson has furthered the cause of Irish unity more than anyone apart from Arlene Foster.

The calls and support for Indyref 2 in scotland have been driven by Brexit, I don't need to spell all that out do I?

In 15-20 years the UK might be FUK, the Former United Kingdom. The catalyst for the above, brexit brexit and brexit.

"Well if you don't like it here, leave".

At least "you're" being offered a solution, calling leavers racist is just low down insults..... see the difference? leavers are more positive!

Should all remainers leave? Would you make it mandatory?

Not at all, they should stay and spend the rest of their lives thanking the leavers for the heaven sent opportunities they have been given.

Whilst the leavers watch as they cut off their noses to spite their face.

Huh?

Why would we thank you for making us all poorer, making the country poorer, taking away opportunities, removing protections against the government reducing our rights, our standards etc?

What's this about cutting off our noses? Remainers voted to stay in the EU.

The cutting off the noses is because the remainers will do everything they can to prove the leavers wrong

Stop being ridiculous, leavers were warned that marching off a cliff might be harmful to their wellbeing. Well now you're going to find out if that is the case. I think it will be reality rather than remain voters will offer proof you're referring to.

The problem with that statement "I think it will be reality" is there will be no way of proving what happens good or bad will be because of brexit, but both sides will keep bickering at each other for a couple of years to come.

"

UK GDP is around 2.17 trillion GBP they can stand 20 billion without blinking, if the remainers would stop whinging.

Would the breakup of the United Kingdom be tangible enough for you?

That would be Brexits fault in your mind?

Ireland, Spain, Argentina have all for many years before Brexit was even thought about wanted what they believe they own and as for Scotland they have wanted independence since before the movie Braveheart"

And brexit has immeasurably helped to make a United Ireland a reality and similarly reinforced the leave argument in Scotland. I'm not saying Brexit caused the factors but it will considerably strengthen the case for them.

We don't need to do anything to prove you wrong. All we do is point out what's going on around us.

The reality of brexit proves you wrong to have voted leave.

You're assuming i voted leave? The initial costs have always been expected and never denied, i notice nobody has mentioned non payments to EU?"

I did assume so. Apologies if that's incorrect.

"Initial costs have always been expected and never denied".

Constantly denied on here.

And surely initial costs would be justified if there was an upside to brexit. But so far, no one has managed to find one.

It seems an odd comparison to make! Do you think the exporters will care about a 20bn loss?

What has GDP got to do with it?

"

UK GDP is around 2.17 trillion GBP they can stand 20 billion without blinking, if the remainers would stop whinging."

So 20 billion a year for absolutely nothing in return is no big deal.

But 9 billion a year net for EU membership and all the trade and security advantages was a terrible injustice and its good we are now 'free' of that.

Is that right?

Another Brexiter economic genius. Almost as good as the guy who keeps asking 'why is free trade good anyway'.

When I've seen it suggested, it's been in response to criticism of Brexit.

& the leavers are still struggling to come up with a tangible benefit of leaving...

Define tangible?"

...a thing that is perceptible by touch.

"these are the only tangibles upon which an assessment can be made"

So we have nothing as yet, except costs way in excess of what we paidcthe EU. What a bargain

UK GDP is around 2.17 trillion GBP they can stand 20 billion without blinking, if the remainers would stop whinging.

Why are you comparing GDP with export losses?

Why would you not?

I'm asking why you have compared the 2, why are you answering back with a question.

Are you trying to say we will take export losses don't matter because of our GDP?

Should it not be?

It seems an odd comparison to make! Do you think the exporters will care about a 20bn loss?

What has GDP got to do with it?"

Where does the figure of 20bn come from? link please

Why are you comparing GDP with export losses?

Because one is the total value of goods and services sold and the other is a straight forward loss.

GDP is not a sign of profit it’s record of turnover in effect. So you can increase your GDP as much as you like but if your losing money and borrowing then it’s still shit.

That’s why the U.K. recorded debt is now just over £2Trillion. Hidden pension liability could add another £4-6 Trillion So take 2.17 Trillion and then subtract our debts and potential liabilities of £6-8 trillion. Result we are in a heap of shit.

Last year a quarter of the FTSE top 100 Companies paid more in dividends than in pension contributions even though their pension funds are underfunded. But as long as those investors are doing ok. Bizarrely some of those investors are pension funds but the traders make money trading and the executives of those pension funds make money on options. Shares that pay dividends are far more attractive so fetch a higher profit on option.

Every twenty Billion counts!,

Here another little loss for you to be aware of cos Brexit keeps on giving. But I’m sure you know you voted for this too.

Or is it more aimed at those complaining that they cant do x y or z anymore now we’re out the Union (and if they want to continue doing x y or z so badly they can just go live on the continent)?

Bit of both.

When I've seen it suggested, it's been in response to criticism of Brexit.

UK GDP is around 2.17 trillion GBP they can stand 20 billion without blinking, if the remainers would stop whinging.

Why are you comparing GDP with export losses?

Why would you not?

They should because the rich won’t be paying an increase in tax or a loss in services. They will.

Oh it will be hidden well like before during austerity. They cut funding to local councils and then blamed the councils for not managing their money.

It’s Middle earner families who will take most of the burden. We still have tax haven status for the mega rich so happy days.

The remainers would cut off their own nose ( to spite their faces); The remainers would do themselves harm before allowing the leavers to be proved right.

Hold on. Leaver are the ones who voted to harm the country. Not remainers.

You're deliberately being obtuse or you haven't read the post properly

No, I don't see what remainers are doing that's spiteful. We just voted to remain in the EU, which would be better for the UK.

The point is brexit has happened you asked should the remain voters be asked to leave and i said no they should stay.

But they would cut off their noses before helping to prove brexit a success "

Remainers are the people who voted for the UK to be a success.

Nothing we do now will be able to make a success of brexit. We're way past the point of no return.

I'm sure you believe that. It's to early to see financial benefits. The EU was always going to make it difficult"

Facts are we’re worse off

Blindly believing Boris who’s been sacked repeatedly for lying isn’t an argument for financial benefits.

The ground we have to make up on losses isn’t going to happen any time soon. Decades if at all.

Judging by the deals we’ve done elsewhere with “no interference from the EU” they are no better than the deals we already had. I can’t see any real financial benefits.

The wishful thinking approach is Boris’ favourite. Have you noticed how he goes off into Latin and sound bites when asked a difficult question. You can’t return a question to a nonsense statement and he uses this trick a lot.

My worry for this country is he thought he could get away with this and Brexit is not quite what he thought. So best defence is talk it up. Bullshit bravado doesn’t equal profits.

All the press releases are investment in the north. No showing the detail of Brexit to the public and how it affects them. Why?. .

Because he knows the public won’t read all 1200 pages and he can deflect the gentle prod from the soft BBC questioning from Laura Kunesberg. The newspapers are on message so no worries there.

Only the mirror and Guardian question the detail but he knows he can ignore them and get away with it.

He ran like a fucking athlete from Andrew Neil as he knew the detailed questioning would be his Achilles heel.

He has yet to show a fact that will return a substantial financial benefit overall to the U.K. economy.

Everything we’ve done so far has made us worse off. That’s a fact. More fish available to catch is the exception but that’s if we can catch them so even that’s not a proven benefit yet.

With our debt levels we don’t have time to wait 10-20 years to see benefits. We need hard benefits now.
