Hands up if you're one of the people who thinks it's ok to penalise the disabled because their president is an absolute cunt?
Lets face it, if you think it's ok to go down that route, you're likely to believe it's ok to remove benefits from the disabled if your PM is a dickhead.
Haven't the disabled enough to put up with without being held responsible for the politics of their leaders? |

If that what you think but I for one feel they all should be banned even after this is over I for one wouldn't compete and definitely won't be watching it now. |

It is a shame that these people are punished for the actions of their leader. Unfortunately sanctions tend to have that effect. The sanctions imposed on Russia are already affecting the normal people there including the disabled, so should we stop those too? |

It is absolutely correct and right that Russia is ostracised and banned from all national sports whatever they are and whoever the competitors are. It isnt anything to do with 'penalising the disabled' but everything to do with showing Russia the disdain the world holds for it.
Do you think the disabled people of Russia will be immune from the economic sanctions? Messages need to be sent to say 'your behaviour Russia disgusts the world'
Really dont understand how you make the leap to then say 'you're likely to believe it's ok to remove benefits from the disabled if your PM is a dickhead.' bit of an odd one, but for the record we do have a PM who in my opinion is a dickhead and I would find it abhorant for benefits to be removed from the disabled who barely have enough to survive as it is.
How are the disabled being held responsible for their leaders politics? Nobody is blaming the 'disabled athletes' they are laying the blame firmly at the feet of their leader and his politics.
Here's a thought .... maybe the sanctions have an effect, maybe the sports boycots raise awareness in Russia. Maybe the killings and maimings stop sooner rather than later. And maybe that means less Ukranian civilians disabled by Russian violence than if the war goes on for longer or even years.
It is a thought, but if there is a way of stopping or encouraging those in power to reconsider what they are doing that will result in fewer killed and maimed people in the future. Then missing a sports tournament is worth it.

What a ridiculous comparison, our PM is a dickhead ffs, people are being slaughtered at the hands of Russia, should we blame Putin and accept everyone else is innocent ?
I felt sorry for the hundreds of young Russian soldiers being sent to die but that pity soon wore off when they started indiscriminately bombing and shooting. |

Looks like they're not going because lots of other disabled athletes refused to compete against them and threatened to withdraw.
That's fair enough - genuine principles from the people involved, instead of political posturing. |
