An LBC journalist and two independent photographer/filmmakers were arrested at the Just Stop Oil protest on the M25.

It seems the police refused to check her press pass, arrested her and kept her in a cell for hours before letting her go without charge. Who thinks that is acceptable and why?

Was this person getting in the way of the police making an arrest?

IF so then it was justified as the press should not get in the way of the police when they're in the middle of a dangerous task, like subduing someone or arresting them.

It is awful how these protestors actions are now impacting innocent people.

The police got it wrong, they will be held accountable, lessons and all that, but I'm confident that there was no malice.

Does that cover a person who belongs to the protest group, would them filming the protest make them part of the protest?

After all, they would not be there in any other capacity other than to be part of the group.

They messed up, they admitted it. Tactics change and keeping on top of them will inevitably mean getting wrong in the first instance.

At the end of the day, a journalist was removed from the scene by mistake and held for a number of hours. The protestors are doing more or less the same thing on purpose, people stuck and being held against their will on motorways etc. They wont stop or take corrective action either.

They messed up, they admitted it. Tactics change and keeping on top of them will inevitably mean getting wrong in the first instance.

We are on different places here. I struggle to see how any change in tactic results in a journalist getting arrested. It's a worrying mistake imo. I worry it was vindictive because she has the one up on them.

This group will be spending days if not weeks coming up with ways to disrupt, everything from climbing buildings, paint throwing and tactics to confuse or expose the police in a bad light. This is planned, not cobbled together over a herbal tea.

The police have said they got it wrong and have implemented changes that will allow legitimate journalists to report.

It's a concern that the police ever had an approach that needed to be changed. From what I can tell there has oways been a process that allowed it. They ignored it. I'd like to know why. And why it took so long to release her.

I suspect that Suella has issued some crypto fascist guidance demanding the police arrest anyone in the vicinity of the protest legitimately or otherwise!

Public photos are always objectional

You could Add Approachment 'IN a/in

-the way they arrived at the scene, I did see

footbridge used they could have adversed over or sculpervated the circumstances to being view/ed, primarily

Not a clever circumstance photographing at a protest

Has to be some level security, esp with Access, arrival & gatherings

I view videos from journalists being arrested for filming in public everyday, I just viewed a video where an auditor was stopped and searched under the terror act for filming in public.

so this news is not new to me.

the journalist who was arrested has been interviewed on talk tv which is now on YouTube.
