Michael Gove has told the North of England's political leaders he will harness the "spirit" of Thatcherism to raise living standards in the region.

Didn't she:

Sell of Social Housing?

Sell off our Utility companies

Sell off our Energy suppliers

Sell off the Railways

Considering the damage done to thuis country by her version of Conservative government, Gove thinks its a good thing,?

"And Labour sold more Council houses than the Conservatives did!"

But it was Thatcher that brought in the idea as well as the idea every one should be able to go to university.

She sold to much..

Yes I wonder if after she’d kicked Scargill into his place she had left it at that and not sought the demise of the coal industry things may have been different . Less imported coal for one.

Maybe if she hadn’t been hell bent on privatising everything the country may have kept all that dividend wealth and asset ownership from streaming out of the UK.

Maybe if the deregulation of the banks and focusing on the city would have avoided the crashes and again wealth leaving the UK.

Maybe if we had curbed the free market approach then we wouldn’t have moved most of our manufacturing needs abroad.

Free markets has lead us to today where we are handing large sums over to car manufactures just to keep them in the UK. Jaguar Landrover may be the next to cash in or move on!

Forty years of everyone for themselves has lead us to record debt and limited options to grow.

Look around you at the state of our housing, our roads, our power and sewage systems and our rail system. Profit over long term investment.

We are a shadow of what was possible.

On a positive we do have more Billionaires than you can shake a stick at!

It seems the "Forty years of everyone for themselves" has become exponential these days with, selfishness, arrogance and the sheer nastiness towards others..

the problem is that we just dont stand up for our rights in the same way that the French do so the government of the day can do pretty much what they want.

"And Labour sold more Council houses than the Conservatives did!"

Thatcher sold 49,000 armed forces married quarters at a knock down prices. All the surplus money went to reduce tax on her supporters.

There was very little family silver she did not pawn or sell.

Think you'll find that was John Major in 1996!

Sell off social housing. I don't agree with it but she'd loads of people benefitted

Sell off utility companies. It's what UK govts do to provide funding. Labour sold off the UK gold reserve

Sell off energy suppliers. See above

Sell off the railways. One of the reasons they were privatised was that they were awful. If you think nationalisation would make a difference, why? Same staff for starters but go on...

She was the root of a lot of the problems that we have nowadays. A woman whose only methods were to bully and create divisions. She was a bitter woman who never understood those who were not obsessed with money or power.

At the last General Election ,The Conservatives won a 80 seat majority with the help of convincing enough people in "The Red Wall" that they were no longer The Nasty Party and that following the implementation of their oven ready deal areas in The North would receive levelling up funds .Last week , After the announcement of the latest batch of levelling up money where more went South rather than North , The Levelling Up Secretary travelled North to tell them Up North that thatcherism is the way forward
