They will stick with the centimetres

However we may be able to buy bottles of wine in pints.

Fun fact: 17pc of people opted for metric only as the way forward... Despite this not being an option on the consultation paper (which was weighted towards imperial).

I remember that survey! A hilariously obvious attempt to provide support for the governments preferred outcome.

Oh No, not this old BS again!

You always could and always will be able to mark your bottles, packages and everything else in pounds, ounces etc.

And when has anybody ever asked for or been served anything other than a pint of beer or milk?

All that was ever obliged is that as well as FOUR PINTS being marked on the carton of milk, somewhere or other 2.272L appeared.

And as for Imperial measurements in general, my engineer son couldn't imagine what a foot or yard looked like, and my pharmacist daughter certainly wouldn't know the equivalent to mg or mcg (grains, drams, scruples?).

Jeez, I'm going back to sleep...

"And when has anybody ever asked for or been served anything other than a pint of beer or milk?"

Seafood used to be sold in pints. It was quite common to get a pint of whelks, or a pint of cockles from the seafood man that toured the local pubs.

"All that was ever obliged is that as well as FOUR PINTS being marked on the carton of milk, somewhere or other 2.272L appeared."

There was also a requirement that the non-metric measurement was not more prominent that the metric measurement. You couldn't use font style, size, or colour to make the non-metric measurement stand out.

It's a review of Brexit and the bonus is wine can be sold in pints. At last a Brexit bonus all the brexiteers can boat about for years to come. How brilliant to leave the EU so we can have a pint of wine. We are on a roll . Another seven years to wait for the second Brexit benefit!

Probably a bit too optimistic there

So do you ask for 2" SCREWS or 50mm

4x2 3.6m or 97x46

And tyres well most wheels are in inch 16 17 etc
