The Trump ones are tough.
On the one hand some polling shows he's historically unpopular. On the other hand he is miles ahead of other GOP primary candidates and when (probably not if) he does receive the nomination I suspect his polling will enjoy a significant uptick. I'm sure there is still a part of the GOP that want rid of him but the truth is because they've turned into somewhat of a circus freakshow of conspiracy theorists, there isn't a big enough pool of serious candidates for one to emerge who could see him off.
Biden is also very unpopular, and although both men are geriatric the feeling seems to be that he's nothing like as vital as Trump and doesn't have the stamina for another campaign. The Democrats have a similar problem to the GOP in that they haven't been able to incubate a candidate of anything like the caliber required to rise to the challenge.
Right now the main two things in Biden's favour are that the incumbent tends to win, and when the incumbent doesn't win they don't tend to get re-elected on the next go. But as with most things about Trump's political career, all bets are off.
Legally, whether Trump is actually convicted of anything I don't think he'll go to prison - rich and famous people rarely do. |

Yes, but an uneasy truce. Crimea will be retaken, but a stray attack will hit a NATO country/Unit bringing NATO in to the conflict. Russia will capitulate at this point and demand to hold gained territory. Standoff essentially.

I don’t think we have to have a GE until January 2025, but 2024 is more likely, given that there is less than a month in 2025 in which to hold it.

I would say Starmer most likely on the back of a collapsed voter turnout. But we shouldn’t underestimate the potential of Labour’s nutty MP’s and adherents (basically the vast majority of them) to cock it up. Plus it won’t make any difference - it will be the same policies administered by different middle managers.

At some point there will have to be a negotiated settlement, presumably when the US gets bored of it all and forces Zelensky out. As long as he doesn’t get bumped off by his own side he can look forward to a nice retirement in the south of France or Miami.

Probably keep bumbling along with the odd flare up. Israel will undoubtedly “win” the short term battle with Hamas if they are prepared to ignore the US.

Doubtful. The MSM take on this is that the Democrats are playing a blinder and the lawfare just animates the Trump base and makes Trump the likely Republican nominee.
The problem is that even Trump is ahead of Biden in the polls. And if Trump did drop out the other Republican options would win a landslide against Biden. The lawfare just looks like the Democrats committing political suicide.

Yes. The government has no clear plan for when the election will be. In their minds, it's May but they'll push it back if the numbers don't improve.

Neither, it will continue. Ukraine has enough to fight on but without Western assistance, their ability to retake their land will be severely depleted. The limited number of aircraft that will arrive won't change the overall picture but will deliver limited success against the aggressors.

I sincerely hope not but I am fearing for the worst. I can understand why Biden has been just accepted by the Democrats. Ultimately, he remains the only Democrat to beat Trump in an election. But the polling looks bleak. 10% undecided with Trump leading by a few percent. We can only hope for a miracle. It worked last time. But whether or not it will or not this year is another matter. I think the talk of Haley making a breakthrough is premature, I just don't see a reality in which Trump isn't the Republican nominee. As for DeSantis, he has got one of the single most disappointing political candidates there has ever been. The only way Trump doesn't get it is if he is too unwell, or he's barred. I can't see either happening but you never know. |

In respect of Trump, two states have already banned him from running in the election due to his involvement in the insurrection in January 2021, as per one of the ammedments to the constitution. There is of course an appeal going to the supreme court, which, if he loses, could see that decision rolled out across all 50 states |

True but before you go blue in the face, the last batch of SC judges were chosen specifically to overturn Roe v Wade and not necessarily to kiss the ring of Donald J Trump the USA secret stealer or insurrectionist.

I didn't used to like the movie It's A Wonderful Life. But it had so many good reviews, and people kept telling me it was good. I rewatched it this Christmas. It was pretty good.
