He is terrified that China might takeover Greenland and that the US must obtain it in the interest of National security.
The real reason is that he is a Mussolini wannabe and is just fucking crackers. |

Greenland potentially has loads of rare earth minerals that may be of interest
If trump keeps this up then the Dane’s will certainly have the EU’s backing economically in regards to tariff retaliatory measures, and specifically if the Dane’s “invited” the us to leave the base |

Well the attempt to topple the Venezuelan government failed miserably.
Lots of dollars spent there so raw materials might be sought on Greenland instead. |

It is sad, wall construction was ongoing when joey came in to office.
Orange Man building a wall bad, with a stroke of a pen joey shut it down.
Those steel panels and materials have been sitting in a dry climate until end of November when joey breaks his pen back out and proclaims F the American people and most of all F Orange Man sell (for 1/2 pennies on the dollar) the all the wall pieces laying around. We can be sure he had it set up so that he gets a kickback as another slap in the face to the American Public.
Yes walls will be built, but thanks to the democratic party and joey. It will cost more than it should and take longer due legislation and funding.
All because of joey and his clown shows pettiness. No worries we all know he is hero to many on here.
Thankfully there are still some honest people in government.

No one is going to start mining the moon. There's nothing up there that's worth the cost of shipping it down here.
The only mining that the moon will ever see will be for materials to build a moon base. That's not going to do much destabilising of the moon.
Well, assuming that they don't annoy the soup dragon. She can get pretty angry. |

Trump is restating good desire for Greenland. Maybe the UK, and the rest of Europe should have bases their in support. Then Greenland order the US to leave their country.
What ever the solution, we can't have any one country being a bully towards another. |

The USA should bribe the locals. Offer each one US10 million and full citizenship, to become another state of the US, plus much economic investment thereafter. Cheaper than a war, a bargain for the US. |

Yeah but it's also one of the largest and relatively unpopulated land masses on the planet, mostly unspoilt and unchanged for tens of thousands of years.
Suddenly greedy Trump start's eyeballing it , the only outcome for it would be complete and utter devastation . Greed greed greed, it's probably just a diversion tactic to take everyone's attention away from the whole Epstein debacle anyway. |

Greenlanders get free healthcare, education & state pensions; I highly doubt those would be kept if Greenland became a US state.
Knowing Trump, he would probably declare Greenland as US President territory/fiefdom, so not fully a state |

This offer is decades old, Truman offered to buy Greenland in 1946, it is a bipartisan policy. Yet people really believe Trump came up with the Greenland idea....
It is probably better to focus on the strategic importance of Greenland's location, and other parties who are involved in that area. If people still think the US shouldn't be pursuing this, I would love to know what the plan will be when either Russia or China finish their slow creep and roll up with intent. |

No one has said Trump has come up with the idea of Greenland becoming a US state; where Trump has differed from previous presidents is he has said use of force wasn't off the table, as well as appointing a personal envoy to Greenland, having a 'charm' offensive trip by JD Vance.

Really? Everything that happens in the US is Trump's idea 99.9% of the time Trump says a lot of things, with too many giving his off the cuff remarks more credence than they deserve.

It seems that Trump isn't well-informed enough to make important decisions and, as you correctly state, says non-credible things off the cuff.
Which raises the interesting question, who really is in charge of US foreign (or even domestic) policy?
As far as I can tell Stephen Miller is "the brains" and Trump often just reads the words that Millar writes. When Trump ad libs it's mostly obvious lies and/or gibberish.
But Stephen Miller isn't a very clever man either, which is worrying as the US administration has a great deal of power but apparently very little intelligence.
It was bad enough in the first Trump administration but in this one all the "adults" have been replaced by sychophants. I suppose Rubio looks half-credible but only because the rest of the cabinet are a total joke.
Looking forwards, Miller has no base though so JD Vance is the character to watch. He's manoeuvring to position himself as the frontrunner to replace Trump.

Apparently it’s a potential strategic base for arctic exploitation when polar icecaps melt. Most of the world’s oil, gas and rare minerals are there. Unfortunately the arctic is a mess of conflicting borders and treaties. It could be a powder keg. |
