Disappointing, but hardly surprising under a Labour government. At the end of the day, socialists are about redistributing wealth not creating it on the first place. They will pay lip service to building the economy, but in reality it's not their priority. |

Bank rate cut next month in the face of this.
A pub closing every day.
More businesses closing than opening.
Tens of billions of Labour spending plans announced recently. Where is the money coming from. |

I agree entirely. With inflation rising and the economy shrinking it’s a tough call for the BofE. But a phone call from Reeves should tip the balance.
And it takes a while for a base rate cut to filter down to that extra bit of money left over at the end of the month. And how many more large caramel lattes can you buy with £15? 2 maybe? Plus a copy of The Guardian |

Labour have scored everyone into not spending, no confidence in them, as people don't trust them with what and who they'll have a go at next, even the Unions are steering clear of them.
It's like the Callaghan days. |

"Really surprised that none of our residents Labour supporters have commented on this thread yet and tried to make out it’s a good thing "
It’s just the lies of the Murdoch Press and the far right media.
Plus 14 years of Tory misrule. Will take at least ten years of Labour government to sort the mess out. |

I’ve heard this argument before. Obviously the conservatives said the same after Blair/Brown. I think it’s a crock.
If you know what your predecessors did and let’s face it, all the opposition can do is listen to what the government says and vote against it. So then all you have to do is write that down, make a note later of what happened because of that decision, and decide which ones you want to reverse.
Anything that doesn’t require an act of parliament or a budget you can do within a week.
All major tax and spending changes are done in the first budget, maybe the 2nd as well, the rest should be just tinkering. I’d say 2 years tops. And I’ll say the same in 5 years time when reform are in power. Labour ain’t gonna get a 2nd term and any government should work on the notion that if they want a 2nd term, then need to makes improvements during the first.
I hear that term “the mess the tories left” quite a lot in here. Labour inherited the fastest growing economy in the G7. Where are we now?

It's certainly heading that way.
In the end I think the Callaghan years will be a walk in the park compared to what this lot are going to do.
The shit hasn't hit the fan yet but it's heading that way at a frightening velocity. |
