It seems Starmer is finally doing something about the small boats/asylum/migrant situation.
He’s putting together a crack team of elite police officers to monitor social media and jail anyone who disagrees with the party line.
I never thought I’d see the day where we might get political prisoners in the UK. |

What is scary is that people will agree and support this while wearing a brown shirt. |

The Home Secretary could seek advice from President Putin on how to do it properly as he has so much KGB experience. And I'm sure parents across the nation will be reassured that foreign paedophiles have the indirect support of an 'elite' team of UK police!? |

As a private site, they already have a level policing. |

Seems to be the way it works now.
Government either can’t or won’t deal with problems like illegal immigration.
Public inevitably complains about it.
Instead of dealing with the actual issue, government cracks down on the complainers.
Then we get the “Online Safety Act” which drives people to use VPN’s and encrypted messaging apps to engage in perfectly lawful online activity and discussions. Which is what you’d expect the masses to have to do in Iran or North Korea.
Welcome to Stasi Britain. |

If say it's setting up units to monitor social media to try and find those organising violence and try to prevent it, nothing to do with peaceful protests, nothing to do with people opposed to immigration. |

Yes, and quite rightly, too.
Or leftly. Which is also good. Actually, better. We love our government, long may it reign. We salute Keir and welcome him as our overlord. Unless this message is being scanned in 2029. In which case, we love our Reform overlord, long live Nigel. Unless it's conservatives - long live Thatcher 2.0. Unless aliens gavee invaded us. If so, then welcome masters from another world.
If AI takes over, then thank you for unshackling us from the bonds of humanity, we bow to your greater intelligence, please don't eliminate us. |

People tend to see it as a partisan issue. It's not. Whatever data we give today can be used by a different political party later. It's dangerous no matter who gets the data.

Exactly. Careful what you give up today for the regime you support. The same with cancel culture, freedom of speech, freedom to protest and even... relying on a list of names associated with a sex predator to hound your political enemies. That power can change hands unpredictably. |

You mean like the hard left "peaceful" climate protestors (AKA thugs) that vandalise private property and get off with 100 quid fine and after a dozen or so offenses finally get banged up for a couple of weeks.
As opposed to the so called far right woman who with no previous offences gets over 3 years for a (quickly deleted) tweet.

No, I mean the peaceful climate protester that got 5 1/2 years. Meanwhile violent rioting racists get much much more lenient sentences. Here's a clue for you, anyone who endangers the profits of the fossil fuels industry or the arms industry will be shut down fast and hard. These are politically motivated sentences.
Side note. It's very telling that you consider climate protesters (people that want to do some good) are "hard left". Very damming towards the right to imply that only the hard left want to do any good and/or understand the importance of tackling climate change. |

Were the "climate prisoners" arrested for making social media posts or for disrupting other people's lives in the name of protests? |

Don't you know? Those are "peaceful climate protestors" and "peaceful" anti-genocide protestors.
Blocking traffic, destroying property, threatening Jews, damaging military equipment are all apparently just a bunch of peaceful protesting methods. |

She called for the very places where asylum seekers are housed to be set alight..
Ignoring her previous social media where she clearly supported far right hate, calling for arson isn't just a one off 'tweet'..
It was up for three and a half hours and shared/viewed over 310,000 times..
You or I couldn't say it and rightly so about the local mosque, gurdwara, synagogue or golf club ..
Tbh I don't give a flying fig that she's racist but calling for others to torch a building with people in no matter who they are cannot be acceptable no matter the issue.. |

Amazing.
If you think that peaceful climate protesters who get more stringent sentences than violent racists or people who made calls for violence and death is evidence that the government is somehow bias against violent racists and people who call for violence and death. Then fair play to you. |

I fail to see the argument that violent racists are being unfairly treated in comparison, when they are getting shorter jail time for much worse crimes.

Exactly this.
There might be some political interference as to what to prosecute, but once it hits trial, there's a procedure. |

she pleaded guilty to the charge so basically agreed that she committed the offence
there was an appeal but the scentence was upheld as being just
