Would you fight for Britain?

A recent RND poll in Germany found that only 16% of Germans would definitely be willing to fight for their country.
This matches similar polling in Italy, and in the UK, where a recent poll found that only 17% of respondents would definitely fight.
This makes for pretty grim reading at a time when the UK and EU are bigging up their talk of war with Russia.
But would you fight?
And what would you be fighting for? |

Fighting for "a country" is pretty stupid. But people don't do that. They fight for their families, their freedoms, their property.
If France invaded the UK and was hell-bent on annihilating us, the remaining 83% (minus Jeremy Corbyn) would sign up and fight for survival.
If fighting for "our country" means signing up for foreign adventurism, then no. That's plain stupid and wrong. |

I’m too old to get drafted and a dodgy ticker would exclude me if i volunteered.
But as a theoretical question if my circumstances were different, yes I would.
I don’t think we need a monarchy anymore and I have no affinity with the current government. So fighting for king and country so to speak is a no. But as has been said, I’d fight for my family and our freedoms. |

If we didn't fight the French who were hellbent on invading and annihilating us, would it result in far superior egg dishes, and correctly cooked chicken with jus in every "cafe" as the norm?
If so, I might have to join Corbyn, which is a deeply unsettling thought..

"Nope I'd fuck off somewhere else and claim asylum, that seems to be what most people do these days if there is war in there own country
Just say you've got bone spurs " why would I say that? I just don't think the country is worth laying my life on the line for,I'm trying to convince both my daughters to make a life for themselves elsewhere, why fight for a goverment that is more intrested in corporations than the people it's supposed to govern |

That one gave me quite a laugh!!!
Perhaps we could take one of these rubber dinghies that are littering Kent and fuck off to a safe country in Africa or South America... |

Yes, I'd fight.
For our freedoms, the right to pray to whatever God you want or none. For the right to wear what you want - expression. For the right to love who you want! For the rule of law to keep power on the hands of the people.
For this Britain!! Because despite it's faults it's beautifully imperfect |
