"He is after the legal ones as well…
So all those people with indefinite “leave to remain” … not so much!
Foreigners beware! "
did you miss the part where he answered a journo question about dual citizenship? and the part about how retrospective these ideas are? seems to be red meat for his zombie army |

Tightening up on policy is what both labour and the conservatives are also doing. Labour plan on doubling the amount of time to claim the right to remain. Conservatives want to stop them claiming indefinite stay if they claim benefits or use social housing or have a criminal record. Not sure why anyone would be surprised that reform are also saying similar things. They have hardly kept their views on migration a secret |

it's the further step of retrospective removal of people who have already qualified for ILR, revisiting naturalised people with uk passports and also the policy of forcing dual nationality citizens to denounce one of their citizenship rights, that is new and alarming. |

Then i am sure the first people that farage will take dual citizenship away from are his children… and the first person to be asked to leave under his proposed ILR changes will be farages broke girlfriend…..
Or maybe not……….
The problem with this policy is that it sounds like you are primary going after the black and brown people… but actually the biggest groups of people who have ILR are
A) those who came from Ukraine after Russia attacked
B) those who came from Hong Kong as china took over
C) afghans who helped the British army in the conflict against the taliban
And then you are going to hear the term Boriswave to scare people……. Those are the 3.8 million EU nationals who stayed here after brexit
Putting those on 5 year visas having to earn 39k a year (the proposal is actually 61K) and taking away their rights to use the NHS for free when a lot of them would have been here for possible decades contributing seems like a particularly mean and nasty thing to do
But… ya know… boats |

it's pretty clear that the CAT is now very much under threat which will have the unionists creaming in their pants. |

I would agree that reform have gone further than both labour and the conservatives who have also become a lot stronger on this topic. To me though it's not a suprise to hear reform being stronger than others and they certainly haven't hidden their feelings on it. This may loose them votes if people think it's going to far though only time will tell. Maybe more people than I imagine or predict will be in favour |

Will this effect the lady who paid for his house ??? "
Honestly… if he wants to break up with her, there are simpler ways of doing it than creating a whole incompetent policy!
Sorry love.. it’s not you, it’s the law!! |

Find it amazing that Zia Yusuf, a son of Sri Lankan immigrants who both worked in the NHS cannot see the potential ramifications.
Make immigration much less appealing & we could end up with critical shortfalls, especially with a shrinking worker pool in relation to an ageing population.
The theory of training Brits to do all the jobs we need is a sound one. But the reality?
How many Brits want to wipe OAP’s backsides?
Call it snobbery or what ever you like but the reality is not enough of them. |

Maybe it puts them in a better position to actually understand the issues better than most...
The NHS is always referenced as the reason we need high levels of migration and the reason we are asked to pay more tax. The service needs modernising from top to bottom. It has become bloated, requiring more and more money while delivering less. This is the same problem across a lot of the public sector, pouring in more money or more people is never going to fix it. |

Farage whines about the so called ‘Boris wave’.
Let us not forget then that he was complicit in the election of Boris Johnson as he stood down 317 Brexit Party candidates in seats won by the Tories in 2017 to ‘Get Brexit Done’ in the 2019 General Election didn’t he?

He isn't whinging he setup a party called Reform to tackle the problems.
People will either embrace his ideas or reject them, and whether you or I agree with him or not he is suggesting change. |

I thought Brexit was going to solve all the countries problems?
Anyhow, in respect of ILR & what Reform are potentially proposing I don't think it's feasible at all. Politically and economically it would be a a disaster deporting that many people, tearing up families. There'll be an exemption for people who've got it already and don't have a criminal record at the least, unless Farage is insane.
By the way, the Think Tank Reform have used - the Centre for Policy Studies – whose research Reform had used to reach the £234bn potential savings figure to be had from these changes – said the cost estimates should “no longer be used.”

What numbers did he provide in relation to deporting? I read numbers that would be effected, and I would suggest there are no deportation numbers because the policies need to be in place and the process being adhered to before that could be considered. |

Well that is correct, the policy has to be in place but I would suggest what is the point of highlighting the policy of Reform aren’t expecting ‘significant’ numbers? |

“…estimates from the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford put the total population of non-EU citizens with ILR at 430,000 at the end of 2024.
Reform said the changes would not apply to EU nationals whose settled status is protected under the European Union Withdrawal Agreement - and who make up the majority of benefit claimants by people with ILR.
But EU nationals not benefiting from the provisions of the Withdrawal Agreement will be subject to the new system”. |

It is politics, Farage capitalising on timing and getting a strong message of change out there, it is working. |

Well he is certainly being heard, that’s for sure.
I would like to see a lot more scrutiny.
Because as soon as he's challenged, he frequently lacks details. He was asked what he would do about pensioners and he just ignored it. Said would it be subject to legal challenge and he just said the 'courts would decide the right way once we leave Strasbourg'.
That’s really not good enough when you are juggling hundreds of thousands of people’s lives. |

Definitely he should be held to account to full scrutiny, as some ideas don't hardly seem like back of fag packet substance . Should we be liable for the costs of people being forced to sell up and move, potentially after decades here? I'm guessing he's in no rush to renounce his group's foreign status and rights, etc. |

He's sulking because he got his arse handed to him in a congressional committee and was ignored by trump over here and never went to the banquet .
It was odds on he would come out with yet another headline grabbing idea which is totally meaningless because it won't happen but it appeals to his base.. |

He doesn't need to have the detail at this moment in time, just the ideas. As like Trump, those that react to everything he hints at fuel his campaign with their rhetoric. It keeps him topical and in the headlines. |

The devil on my shoulder wants Reform to win the next general election and for the UK's economy and society to be absolutely torn to shreds.
The angel on the other shoulder whispers very very quietly, this might just about be worth the pain to reinforce the long-term cautionary message - be very careful about what you wish for. |

He’s talking about automatic ILR after 5-years which is a UK specific loophole, do a degree then take any job for 2 years = automatic ILR and all the benefits to you and your extended family of a citizen. Why? No other country allows this. The most we get in Dubai is 10 yr golden visa and that’s costs around £200k
Tories made it a bit harder and increased the costs you now pay NHS surcharge for 5 years and need to earn more but there’s agencies can get get around that , it’s still 5 yrs = ILR , you just pay more - around £10k |

“Reform said the changes would not apply to EU nationals whose settled status is protected under the European Union Withdrawal Agreement - and who make up the majority of benefit claimants by people with ILR”
I’d really like to see the evidence behind that statement: my (German) wife was granted settled status - with every obstacle put in her way, for example being a teaching assistant her contracts were term-long and weren’t accepted as continuous employment - but like others only so that they could continue to work here. Everybody else went back to Europe!
“the policy of forcing dual nationality citizens to denounce one of their citizenship rights”
Our children have both UK and German citizenship/passpoerts. If it came to it, which one do you think they’d choose? Give you a clue, NOT the one where my 14-year-old was called a ”Nazi whore”. |

"This is just scare mongering to stir up racial hatred against white people.
Pretty sure that’s illegal. "
What scaremongering?
The Boris wave Farage is trying scare people with are the people those who could apply for ILR in the next few years… this biggest group of those people are the 3.8 million EU nationals that stayed after Brexit!
If you are talking those of of the equation.. that leaves approximately 800k, the majority of those are Ukrainians who came here when the war started, or hong kongers who left when the Chinese took over, or Afghans who specifically helped the British army when they were fighting the taliban… those 3 groups account for about 500k of the 800k remaining… and when specifically asked in the press conference if they would go after these groups he refused to answer the question!
So you tell me? Just who is he going after? |
