David Cameron once vowed to get rid of the Punch and Judy of politics at Westminster. Aka the shouting and jearing over the benches. No other parliament does it. I questioned my local MP why it was done. He said it was traditional. My father's response was "it was traditional in medieval days to have your leg amputated without an anaesthetic" traditional ain't always fab! Stop the unnecessary shouting and let's have proper debate |

I agree. It's not a circus and shouldn't be treated as such. It's just "theatre" anyway. Demeaning and childish.
It should be dignified and serious. Set a good example to citizens. Serious faces, debating with respect and decorum. Answering tough questions. No jeering. No shouting. Just calm, cool and collected adults. If you condition people to expect "entertainment", they'll never take politics seriously. |

You clearly haven't done a lot of looking at other parliaments. Ours is notable in the fact that it very rarely has fist fights, but there's plenty of footage of this happening in other countries. |

I was pretty much going to post that. 
I've seen a few proper punch ups in others. I can even remember when the Guardia Civil guy pulled out a gun in the Spanish parliament and put holes in the ceiling. 
There's a reason that the government and opposition benches are 2 sword lengths apart. Seems to work though, not seen anyone "run through" yet.  |

In India, I have seen politicians throw chairs at each other in the parliament/legislative assembly and one politician who came out of the assembly with his shirt torn to pieces |

I'm pretty sure earlier in the year in the Serbian political chamber there were flares and smoke bombs thrown..
Ya boo politics in the commons is at times puerile and adds little but in comparison to others it's a nursery.. |
