Here are the results from the by-election for the Coggeshall ward in the Braintree district yesterday.

• Liberal Democrats - 55

• Conservative - 311

• Labour - 366

• Independent - 517

• Reform UK - 554

Seems the Greens didn’t field a candidate. I don’t know any more about the independent candidate.

This is James Cleverley’s seat, former Tory leadership hopeful.

At the last general election…

Tory - 17414

Labour - 13744

Reform - 11346

Lib Dem - 2879

Greens - 2878

Fairly safe conservative seat and a council by-election is not the same as a general election, but I think conservative MP have a lot to worry about. You can see why they are defecting
