Trumos Hormuz ship insurance

Doesnt seem to have the ships moving.
Another brainwave got wrong
After another ship hit, who in their right mind is going to risk their life regardless of wether it's insured 🙄
Maybe the world should all chip in to build more bypass pipelines

"So Iran is taking more innocent lives? Perhaps it’s time to wipe them off the face of the planet?
I'm sure that's trumpinos objective, (sorry orders from benny)"
So what should be done about a nation that is using their military to attack merchant shipping?
With respect mate, you say what shouldn’t be happening a lot but I’ve not seen anyone, yourself included, offering alternatives |

If the governments of the world want oil from the gulf, they should take steps to protect the tankers. The US are not the worlds naval police force. Any country with a navy should be dispatching ships to the gulf to protect merchant shipping.
Why is the UN not encouraging this? Shooting down drones and missiles aimed at oil tankers is not an act of war. |

Nobody was sending missiles and drones at tankers before Trump started bombing |

Whilst that statement is true, it’s also irrelevant. "
How is it irrelevant ?
Killing and bombing Iran didn't put oil prices up, closing the shipping down did that as a response to being bombed to fuck, do you think for a moment that occured to the dumb fuck orange king before he went in gung ho ? Maybe he should have debated it and consulted some military strategists 🤷♂️
And to answer your other question, like Trumpo I've not a fucking clue what to about it, these are likely small mobile groups impossible to track from the air ..
Back to the other question ... Troops on the ground ? Now that would be a real disaster for his poll ratings |

It’s irrelevant because stating it doesn’t solve the problem.
The sailors on those merchant ships didn’t shoot missiles into Iran. So Iran firing on them is no more justified than if they activated a few of the terrorist cells in London and set off bombs at a couple of football matches.
Just to be clear, are you in favour of the attacks on merchant shipping? I’m gonna assume not, so I assume you’d be in favour of protecting as many of those lives as possible?
Iran is being very smart. They think if they can create a global oil shortage they will be left to quietly r @ p e and murder their female population into submission. The scary thing is, it might work. |

"Listen here you bone-spur, spray-tan mess of a commander-in-tweet.
You’re standing there in your red tie like a bloated jack-o-lantern telling oil tanker crews to “show some guts” and sail through the Strait of Hormuz like it’s some damn episode of The Apprentice.
Bitch, those are real human beings.
They’ve got families. Kids. Mortgages. Lives.
And you’re over there barking orders from a gold-plated toilet seat in air-conditioned comfort, acting like courage is something you can demand from other people while you’ve spent your whole life dodging it.
Let’s talk about guts.
You dodged the draft with “bone spurs.”
You’ve never been on a tanker.
Never stood watch in hostile waters.
Never had missiles pointed at your ass while trying to keep a ship and crew alive.
But suddenly you’re Admiral Cheeto Christ of the Seven Seas, telling sailors to risk getting blown out of the water so you can puff your chest out on television.
That’s not leadership.
That’s cowardice wrapped in a flag and dipped in self-tanner.
Real leaders don’t gamble with other people’s lives like they’re chips in a casino.
Real leaders don’t sit safely behind a podium telling working people to “show guts” while they’ve spent 70-plus years showing nothing but ego, ignorance, and the emotional maturity of a feral toddler with Wi-Fi.
If you want guts, pumpkin, here’s a thought.
Put your own orange ass on the tanker.
You sail through the Strait of Hormuz first.
You stand on the deck.
You take the risk.
But we all know that’s never happening.
Because the only thing you’ve ever sailed through is bankruptcies and bullshit.
So spare the world your tough-guy routine, you cowardly, loud-mouthed, spray-painted mascot for bad decisions.
Until then, keep your mouth shut about courage.
Because the people actually risking their lives out there have more bravery in their pinky finger than you’ve shown in your entire damn life.
Girl bye. 💅" |

Very emotive.
But this notion that leaders should be at the spearhead of military action is nonsensical. Anyone who plays chess (and I don’t) knows you don’t put your king in front of your pawns.
Politicians kinda break the model but basic military procedure is as you gain knowledge and experience you climb the ranks. You can’t teach everything to every soldier but if you have a chain of command you don’t need to. The squad does what the sarge says. The sarge does when the captain says. The captain does what the general says (yes I missed a feed tanks)
You don’t put your general at the front because one bullet could cost your side everything they know and have learned over their career. And the intelligence they know about the enemy which can’t be shared in a timely manner with everyone.
When war was fought predominantly hand to hand, upon seeing an attack the first order was “officers to the rear”. This wasn’t because they are better people, kinder to their kids, have a bigger house, it was to preserve their knowledge.
In the modern era we have prime minsters and presidents giving the orders rather than a king or an emperor. But the king sat on a horse or in a tent watching the big picture. Their knowledge and experience of military strategy was what decided the outcome of battles.
Now battles are usually started for political reasons and not purely a land grab. Putin is as much testing the resolve and response of the west as he is trying to take over Ukraine. Do you see Putin in Ukraine? Was the supreme leader in the streets facing protestors?
I get the sentiment behind this, losing loved ones to a battle you don’t believe in is one of the hardest things to take. Especially if that battle seems to gain nothing for you and your people.
The Iranian people were also in a battle. One they had no chance of winning alone. They too have lost loved ones.
Still waiting on a viable alternative to this and doing nothing. |

Pretty sure there’s a vast gulf between ‘do nothing’ and ‘start a war (including blowing up a school)’

You won't get an answer because people are still reluctant to say what they really think - that they'd love to see Israel (read: Jews) wiped off the map, America (not only Trump, he's just a vehicle for anti American bile) and they don't care if 50,000 or 500,000 people are slaughtered in the streets of a faraway country of which we know little. Wave the white flag and fill the tank ! |

The school was probably empty, the regime probably killed all the kids already as they were using it as a military base.
Diplomacy has always been happening and still will be through back channels. Sanctions have been in place for decades and not worked.

Sadly it will go over some heads but there is quite an irony in people proudly declaring one week that they know nothing about Iran, and could care less, and the next week declaring that the global economy depends on Iran's actions.
A good lesson in paying attention to all parts on an issue and not being swayed by partisan obsessions ! |

I think carrying on doing nothing until there was a _viable_ plan as to what should be done is exactly what should have happened.
We have tolerated this situation for over 40 years and there was no meaningful indication anything would change so there was no need to do anything _now_.
I hear a lot about nuclear weapons capability but I also heard that had been dealt with in Operation Midnight Hammer so not sure whether to believe now is the accurate analysis or the previous “total destruction” is correct.
Civilians are clearly being killed by an oppressive government. But that applies to multiple countries around the world. Why intervene here and not in other places?
The only person who really benefits out of all of this is Netanyahu. This has been his goal for pretty much his entire life. He will be smiling. I am not sure keeping Benjamin happy is sufficient reason. |

The bomb hit the school well after the attack on Tehran had begun, and the school was apparently right next to a military centre, in fact some have suggested it was part of the military area as a schools for children of military personnel. So it's quite legitimate to ask why it wasn't evacuated, or if the number of dead given (which have come from the regime with no verification) are accurate. |

But something did change. The people started to protest in unprecedented numbers and were being slaughtered. Imagine that in your home town and nobody comes to help.
You say why here and nowhere else and that would be a valid question, were you not using it for justification to do nothing.
But for clarity, what countries would you advocate for similar measures? |

I'm pretty sure the "not a war" would have been much more successful if there was a plan as to how it all ends ... Maybe an alternative to the regime to take over and have the support of the majority to do it.
Trump has no idea what the end game is .. yesterday he said the new leader is unacceptable and today he says they're almost done 🤷♂️
Maybe they won't have as many missiles or drones but I'm sure with the help of Russia and china it won't take too long to rearm and I'd be pretty sure reprisals against "known troublemakers" will be swift if the US and Israel just walk away...or perhaps the plan is for Israel to continue daily bombings like Gaza 🤷♂️

I am not quite sure what you mean. I don’t advocate going into ANY country due to their killing civilians. To safeguard civilians you need to put boots on the ground and we are not in a position to do that. Is it a moral outrage that people kill the civilians? Of course it is. Can we do anything about it militarily that will _actually_ safe guard civilians on the ground? No.

So to clarify, and in not trying to trip anyone up, I just think some answers aren’t clear.
You would do nothing on the basis that there isn’t really anything that can be done.
And to bring that into context that I mentioned previously, if it was your town where troops were walking the streets shooting people seemingly indiscriminately, you’d be happy that nobody helped you? |

Assuming you are talking about the real world and not for some forum fodder:
Would I want assistance? Of course I would. Would I genuinely expect a foreign army to invade to assist me? No. Not at all. That is because I know putting troops onto the ground in a foreign country is a prolonged and difficult business. That is why foreign interventions are so rare.
These “moral” questions you posit are meaningless because they can’t be acted upon in the real world. |

Well regime change didn’t work, since the new regime is literally a continuation of the old. And it’s not about nukes (unless Donny sends in boots on the ground, you can’t remove nuclear capability by bombing alone - only slow it down).
And Iran doesn’t have weaponry that can reach, let alone harm the USA homeland - so there’s no cause/goal there.
What potential goals are left? Oil? Favours from Netanyahu?

I guessing the dead mass murderers aren't laughing, except from down below maybe.
They will be replaced and no doubt with a more cruel and oppressive mandate to search for the enemy within who assisted the west and the Zionists..

"US intelligence assessments indicate that Iran’s leadership is still largely intact and is not at risk of collapse any time soon, the Reuters news agency has reported, quoting three sources familiar with the matter.'
So this doesn't look like this is going to be a quick win, or a quick anything. In fact, Iran appear to he growing in confidence regarding their position. Threatening further oil price rises and now adding demands for any cessation of fighting - 'Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian outlines three conditions to end the war: recognition of Tehran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations and firm international guarantees against future aggression.'
This really is a shitshow for which no serious person can find reason or explanation, let alone outcomes.
Find it hard to not believe China / Russia aren’t giving the Iranians serious intel, starting to strike Oil assets in the region with regularity now.
Israel / US starting to diverge on messaging, Yanks talk about an imminent ending whereas the Israelis go with “indefinite”. Serious splits in the MAGA movement. Not seeing the upside for America any more at this point…?"
Putin confirmed they had spoken and yes its within their interest to assist behind the scenes which is what America did with the Afghanistan mujahideen when Russia invaded there..
Netanyahu is after finishing hezbollah but killing innocents to get one if they do in Beirut will help keep their ideological hatred festering against the West and Israel..
Maga ain't happy, Vance very much so..
The longer this goes on and Iran still maintain a capacity to launch drones which they've got plenty despite what Trump says the more the pressure internally and regionally will pile up on him and his administration.. |

Interventions haven’t turned out too well in a lot of cases either to be fair.
This is on Trump. Iran were compliant with the JCPOA, he tore it up. |

Without having a full picture that's very difficult to say at this point. Of course Iran puts out their spin on how they are winning as much as Trump, yet it seems their version is believed to the word while Trump's is mocked as mad ramblings.
This military action is a couple of weeks old, it is far too early to reach any firm conclusions about the future. If the Iranian regime does recover and the US withdraws in humiliation however, I think that is very bad news for all the West.

Seeing tankers in the gulf and oil storage facilities ablaze in several countries isn't spin, they've not said yet 'we told you so' publicly but in the back channels they will be with their regional neighbours..
Trumps ramblings aren't mad but they are so predictable and the Iranians will have predicted how he would respond ..
The best outcome for the Iranian population (and region) is the downfall of the regime but it won't be achieved by air power alone..
Europe was freed from fascism because America had a bigger arms manufacturing capability than Japan and Germany and such things are true today..
There will be a limit on what they will have set aside for this with other global issues etc and the regime know this.. |

Wary of going off topic, but it’s likely that Germany would have lost regardless of the USA entering WW2, due to numerous supply obstacles, expensive over-engineered equipment and tactical errors. The outcome was definitely expedited with USA assistance though. |

I wasn't giving an full explanation just in relation to expenditure of certain munitions in this war and when the cut-off is reached..
But yes it's more complex as TM also alluded to.. |

Escalating Iranian attacks and the U.S. government’s decision to hold off on military es-corts for oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz are raising the prospect of a prolonged closure that would cho ke off exports through the world’s most important energy-transport route.
On Wednesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck three cargo ships attempting to transit the waterway, the only sea route out of the Persian Gulf. It warned that any other vessels trying to move through the strait also would be targeted. |

This sounds like a compelling argument to make the Straits an international zone with all countries guaranteeing safe passage and military support. Clearly should have happened decades ago. |

Is this a genuinely serious suggestion?
History tells us that any strait or channel is a huge strategic block. It is almost impossible to guarantee safe passage through that kind of water if the people who are overlooking don’t want you to go through. This is exactly why Britain expended so much energy over the ages maintaining control of places like Gibraltar, Singapore and the myriad of other islands that control access to key transit water.
From a strategic perspective the Iranians have very little they can realistically do that will inflict damage on the US. Closing the strait is the most obvious thing they can do to cause immense pain. They would be mad not to do it.
There is pretty much no way that anyone can keep the straits open if the Iranians want it closed. You would have to put a substantial number of naval vessels into a tight, constrained channel that was easily within reach of Iranian weaponry. That isn’t going to end well.

There is clearly something that is stopping people putting ships through that channel. It would appear not to be as easy to stop as you believe it to be.

"The only tankers that are getting through now are Iranian and Chinese."
Very limited Chinese tankers, but reportedly not carrying oil. If anything is getting through that suggest mines have probably not been used. |

"Doesnt seem to have the ships moving.
Another brainwave got wrong
After another ship hit, who in their right mind is going to risk their life regardless of wether it's insured 🙄
Maybe the world should all chip in to build more bypass pipelines
That because where trump said the us would insure up to the value of 2 billion, Lloyds of London said to insure everything going through would cost roughly 200 billion
That's what happens when you put a serial bankruptee in charge of a country 🤷♂️
Wasn't he fired from tbe apprentice as well ? Or was that for being racist ?
Anyway looks like his plan isnt working so again we're fucked and we pay for his mistake
What weaponry, a handful of drones. The number of those has already fallen sharply as Irans military infrastructure has been dismantled. Their 'leader' is either dead or so injured he can't even make his own broadcast. The idea that a united international protection force could not deal with the Iranian paper tiger seems hugely pessimistic and defeatist to me.

Because it takes time to get the correct protection in place and it's absolutely a valid criticism of the US this wasn't done in advance although of course this would have given notice of the attacks on Iran. This evening the US has said they will start to provide military ecorts, and hopefully the Europeans will follow.
I also doubt very much that China are celebrating the restrictions on the Straits use. |

The two most recent attack in the Straits were on Japanese and Thai flagged ships, two countries with nothing to do with the Iran-US conflict. Further proof, if it was really needed, that Iran is a dangerous rogue state which the international community, including India and China, must finally deal with. |

The U.S. Navy will begin e.scorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz as soon as “militarily possible,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Sky News on Thursday.
“That was always in our planning, that there’s the chance that the U.S. Navy or perhaps an international coalition will be e.scorting oil tankers through,” Bessent said in that interview.
“It is my belief that as soon as it is militarily possible, the U.S. Navy and perhaps with an international coalition, will be e.scorting vessels through,” he said.
“We’ve done scenario analysis for months, for weeks, leading into this,” Bessent said.
“It is a prospect as soon ... we have complete control of the skies,” Bessent said.
“As soon as it is possible ... to ensure safe passage, we will do it,” the Treasury chief said.
…so there's mini subs, sea drones, mines, air drones and missiles to avoid whilst the oil tanker moves at 20mph
Maybe they should live stream it? |

The claims that there was planning look hollow, as for an international coalition good luck getting that up and sailing ..
As you rightly say the amount of small fast attack craft that Iran can deploy will make protecting slow tankers difficult..
After the initial attacks slowly and whilst under constant air attack with no defences in that area Iran are not folding and look to be playing a longer game ..
The messaging from Trump etc has been all over the place as to what is the end game, what are the main aims as the reality sinks in..
Even Netanyahu looks to be accepting that regime change is probably unlikely..

The US will make ships going through carry it's flag so then it will be protected and any attack will be seen as an attack on the US. This will give trump the go-ahead to bomb anyone who does.
The US have done this before |

Source? He clearly accepts lack of change is a possibility, but that regime change unlikely?"
R4, tbh that's my perception of what was reported ..
I'm basing that on a couple of things, the other gulf states not going into an offencive role despite the ongoing attacks which would be a boost for those in Iran who want regime change..
Washington telling Israel that Trump is considering ending it which given the way he flip flops not that surprising and the polls are reflecting how unpopular the war is now let alone using the US navy to transit in slow convoys ..
So not verbatim, just my opinion..

Not sure the IRGC need more of an incentive that an American flag will bring to a target.. |

That's true, but there's one or two desperately clinging to biblical style blind belief |
