It would be a country that selected US investors could benefit from, that's physically close to the US. He won't be thinking about international law, or the lovely citizens' wellbeing

The Mafia ran Cuba back in the 1950s. Daft Donnie fancies he can do it with his mob.

It’s a shame.

Cuba has been a pretty well run country since 1959 with some of the highest living standards in the world.

Having visited Cuba, and explored the island, I would say that it is not a well run country and living standards are not great.

This is incorrect. Cuba has more doctors per capita than any other country in the world.

When I visited even my chauffeur was a doctor.

And that proves a high standard of living how? Living standards are usually reflected in food availability, housing quality, infrastructure, wages and economic opportunity.

If you have been to Cuba you will know food is scarce, rationed and houses are of poor quality. You would have also seen high unemployment, scaffold holding up scaffold.

Precisely. If the Americans had bought Cuban produce it would have given socialism a chance to work.

That's got to be in the top ten funniest comments on the Fab politics forum for 2026.

I got genuinely worried for a sec reading through this thread… but then relief when I saw this and immediately realised the satire. Phew! 😅

I imagine it's a bit like the situation with all the Doctors who cross the Channel-there are just so many of them that some end up working for Just Eats and Uber while they're waiting to start work as Heart Surgeons.
