Should Fab delete the Politics thread?

around here

Is this thread anything other than a boner killer?

I know the answer is “well don’t read it, then” but I have to question why this Politics thread is in a swingers forum.

All it does is either depress, anger or start arguments. It divides people rather than bring them together. I come here to escape the news, not wallow in it.

Would this forum be better off if the Politics thread was permanently deleted?

Like swinging itself, for some people it’s a useful psychological pressure valve.

I mean there are people on here who post endlessly day after day about the same topics (usually “Donald Trump”). I suspect they’ve long since been told by their partners to “give it a rest” so they come on here and bore strangers about it instead.

Still if it makes them feel like they are being listened to and are less powerless that’s no bad thing.

We definitely need a separate TDS section! 😂😂

It doesn't bother me as such.

Tend to use the green arrow as a filter.

Would I want a chat to some of these people in the real world, I'd faint due to boredom.

It also amazes me how some of these people believe they are some form of authority, but generally they show their true colours by allowing their views to decend into a pissing contest.

As long as they don't put their foot in my door, good luck to them, it obviously brings them pleasure.

Sometimes, I wonder how they find the time. Being such international and or medical experts you'd think they'd be incredibly busy at work.

Have met one at a social.

For some reason, they weren't as vocal in a face to face environment.

Having said all that, I do love to see a basically straight forward statement or question decend into a quagmire of nastiness within half a dozen responses.

Sometimes I do find it quite sad.

But, as always, each to their own.

Have fun.

No, keep it. Let's people see if their politics are aligned to meet. Or glad to avoid.

Having it separate, helps to keep such fervent discussion away from the rest of the forum, such as the lounge. The lounge did used to get swamped with political posts, during elections, etc - with a corresponding decline in discussion civility

, etc.

Having it in its own topic area, lets others stay away, if they want to. It helps to foster greater positivity overall, if it continues

Agreed 100%. Despite our differences I think the Politics Section is reasonably civil.

It shows how some folks are easily turned from friendly to nasty and then to personal slights.

It shows the real cut of their jibs.

I don't think so, not in the slightest.

.

Our whole world is shaped and governed by the politics of ourselves and others.

It touches every aspect of our lives.

.

It's here in this forum because it's an engagement topic that is of value and interest to some.

.

For others it's a tool to see who "Red Flags" themselves. Some might use it to conduct "due diligence" on another prior to a potential meet.

.

I think it's fine to leave it alone.

This section of the forum was created at the request if forum users who were fed up with political discussion in the lounge and swingers chat.

If it was deleted people would revert to posting in other sections of the forum.

If you don't enjoy this section I highly recommend not visiting .

It works very well, and when politics threads are posted elsewhere its easy to see the logic.

I would prefer a news forum which would obviously include politics. I do read the politics forum but alot of it goes over my head. A news forum I think would be more beneficial and maybe more people would feel more confident to comment.

What would be a good policy is to keep all sexual stuff in Swingers Chat and out of the lounge.

Just because you feel some posts go over your head, don't ever feel your comments are not worthy or your take on any subject isn't relevant.

Also, just because people attempt to make their posts seem intellectual or intelligent, doesn't mean they are.

If anyone puts you down, call them out.

Your views on any subject are fine and I'm sure would add to the discussion.

Good luck.

Given that most "news" is lies or fake it should probably be called the comedy forum

Maybe a direct feed from Trump's social to fab would make everyone laugh at least 🤣🤣

It's the nature of the Internet, how it's developed into a forum that gives ANYONE the ability to have an opinion.

For many years this was traditionally done in the capital at speakers corner and you could rock up with a step or box and rant away.

Nowadays it's possible to do the same and get to a wider audience.

My first experience with a forum platform was tritalk in 2004 a triathlon website and even then they had a "general/lounge " section and everything from pet's to politics are discussed this is still the case.

Many forums on many many websites are available discussing a huge variety of subjects.

It's as valid a place as any having a politics section on a swinging site as we are all just " normal " people after all.

And let's face it having it here moderated and monitored is far more preferable than some site allowing unfiltered nonsense spewing hatred and lies.

Like any other social setting if you get people together chances are people will start discussing politics and current news so why wouldn't a swinging forum be any different??

You said yourself in the OP if you don't like it don't read it it's very simple.

I think in general discussions in this section are intelligent and thoughtful and nothing to extreme, difference of opinion is always going to happen as is personality clashes.

As is the Internet trolls will come and go, agenda's will also, bots and professional disruptors, nutjobs and people who just want to spout endless crap.....
