Shocking scenes from the genteel London suburbs of Clapham and Croydon where large gangs of children celebrated Easter early by looting and trashing multiple shops and forcing residents to lock themselves in.
Was this just youthful high jinks got out of hand, or is London becoming an anarchic crime fest ? |

Kids can do whatever the fuck they like today and they know it , a system that is now preventing any form of civil obedience and policing because no-one NO ONE, is allowed to say "NO" to them parents, schools,police all have their hands tied.
We ha e allowed it to become this way and trust me it's only going to get worse....

It's not about that ,it's about consequences, there aren't any.
Everything is excusable and blamed on anything but the people committing the crimes, it was the fault of: lockdown, the school, parents, adhd, poverty, my cat died, I was upset by something I saw on tik tok..... the excuses are endless and the punishment is zero.
It's not about a clip round the earhole it's about knowing if you break the law and act antisocially there will be consequences. |

Who's making excuses? If you want to pretend that groups of young men being arseholes is a new thing then that's up to you.
Remember that the press sells its papers and gets its clicks by making you scared about something or angry about something (preferably both). The unpaid water carriers who live on forums are a great asset to them. |

The right are always the first to cry about disorder but can't put 2+2 together that when the state has more money they can spend it on police, the army, navy, MI5, MI6 you know to keep us safe!
The state has a role to protect our freedoms, they can only do that if they have money.

We don't need a national curfew over a few yobs!
Both things can be true, crime can be over all coming down but there could be specific outliers like phone theft and robbing shops also I think cyber crime is rising.
A lot of this petty crime could be resolved if we were ready to tackle poverty and especially in work poverty. |

It's just facts!
You can try and deflect if you want but crime is usually driven by poverty, we have to talk about the effects austerity has had on our public spaces and services.
We have to talk about low wages and why the tax payer has to top up people's wages.
You can cherry pick your issues to fit your narrative or you can step back and see how interconnected everything is and we as a society start paying for it. |

Poverty is normally the driver, it has become a more organised crime of late, however, that doesn't alter the fact that the driver is poverty. Those organised enough are selling on the cheap and obviously making a buck.

In my professional experience, shoplifters I dealt with were habitual drug users, or just didn't want to pay. I didn't deal with a single individual I'd have deemed to be stealing out of necessity. I was a CPS gatekeeper and wouldn't have allowed a single mum stealing nappies to pass the public interest test for example. |

This thread is about copycat crimes caused by rampaging out of control youths.
There is no excuse for what they did, and we may need to consider how the future looks as these youths grow up and have many children of their own before the end of the decade.
People can blame many things, not enough tax being taken, billionaires, wealth tax and any number of other unrelated things, the simple "facts" because I'm seeing people do like facts, are some parents are not parenting, many youths are copying violent social media trends, the police can't deal with such large numbers of out of control youths due to the delicate balance of policing children.
Maybe it is time to ban social media for under 18's, and hold parents accountable for their children's poor behaviour, that might help. |

It was later confirmed of course that the police withheld the fact that the Southport mass murderer was making ricin and downloading Al Qaeda literature until months later. Mayors do not directly control who commits hate crimes, nor every operational policing decision. The strongest recent surges appear linked to external shocks and national/international events, not KHAN DID IT.
