"Isn't motability a tremendous scam ?
That seems to be the case, yes."
There was a case last week of a young woman claiming PIP and driving a motability BMW while taking adventure holidays in Mexico.
Of course most claims are genuine but it does seem extraordinary open to abuse with a big incentive on the car dealers to enable it. |

The dealerships actually hate it, they make next to nothing on it |

The sales folks love it they are earning most of thier commision from selling to the motability scheme it far exceeds the amount of new cars sold to private buyers. They are not even supplied the basic models. The PIP system is subject to massive amounts of corruption, it surely can't go on much longer but fook knows who is going to get grips with it. |

I wouldn't say it's a scam as it clearly helps people with disabilities (especially in rural areas).
But the definition of "disability" has been stretched to the point where the Motability Scheme has become unfit for purpose and needs reforming. |

The latest Department for Transport (DfT) data shows that 3.07 million blue badges were held as of 31 March last year, with more than 6% of the estimated 46 million adults in England holding one.
34 million cars registered, one in eleven with blue badge. |

Having been shopping for a motability car with my ex wife a few years ago and my best friend being a former sales manager at a Renault dealership, I can assure you the salesman don’t like the scheme because they and the dealership make next to nothing on them.
The sales value is stripped to so close to cost in an agreement with the manufacturer that they are just shifting metal. |

All new cars are likely tracked nowadays and younger drivers frequently have those additional devices for insurance reasons. In any event, the disabled people are paying for the car and shouldn't be penalised, because they are disabled. It's property they are paying for, to use as everyone else would. |

From what I heard on the radio, all these mobility cars have the same insurance and the idea of the black box is to reduce the premiums and therefore reduce costs to the tax payer. As far as I am aware it does not impose any extra restrictions on the use of the car |

In Northern Ireland motability cars won't be allowed to drive into the republic without consent and possibly charges so this will be a way of tracking that and hopefully other areas of misuse too.
Those that truly need disabled cars shouldn't suffer because the idiots with writers cramp are scamming the system |

They aren’t paying for the car. They are generally using their benefits as the payment, so we (as taxpayers) are paying. |

Skeys really wind me up, why does someone on benefits with anxiety deserve it even need a brand-new car fully expensed ? Most working people would never be able to afford this, why does the government incentivise people and make it so easy to claim benefits fraudulenty by taking a few boxes to say you have anxiety or a bad back |

That is sort of true.
Back in my day Motability was a pain in the arse. Lots of pissing about for very little unit profit.
On the upside it was handy when you were chasing a quarterly or year end bonus and needed a few extra units. |

The answer to that is fairly simple. Let’s look at the system as a whole…
Imagine you’ve got an unlimited about of money and you want to feel good and virtue signal about how many people you can claim to have “helped”.
So you put a system in place that doesn’t check applications particularly thoroughly so nearly all get approved. You put an appeals system in place so those you do turn down you can approve later. And you’ll pay for a lawyer for the minimal amount of rejections that are left so they can challenge you in court. But never let those cases get to court because it’s cheaper to just approve them.
Soon most people will be on benefits, most people will have a blue badge and most people will have a motability car.
The only thing stopping that from happening right now is the conscience of working people, their pride in themselves and their self respect. But as left wing politicians shout louder and louder and how increasing benefits spending is a good thing and anyone who wants to control benefits spending is a far right Nazi, the more people will claim. And that’s exactly what’s happening. The percentage of disabled people in the general population hasn’t increased but the number claiming disability benefits is growing massively.
The big problem is that all these people get to vote and say how much of your money they can take. That’s why the greens and the other far left parties are becoming more popular. Get rid of defence spending and you have more money to give away in benefits. Increase taxes on everything and you have more money to spend on benefits. Open the borders and we’ll have more doctors and engineers paying taxes so your benefits can increase. Take control of all property and land then you can make money renting it out and give that away in benefits.
Benefit recipients are the largest single block of voters and they are the easiest to please. |

Do they give a reason why they can't drive the car from northern Ireland to southern Ireland? If I had to guess it would be insurance related given they would be driving in a non UK country and the insurance does not cover that. As I say a guess only. If it does clamp down on misuse then I would have thought that would be welcomed |

"What a good idea, protect those that are using the benefit to support their mobility and expose those who might be playing the system.
"
My dad did this.
The car was my mums but he used it to go to work, the selfish cunt told my mum she worked a mile away she could walk. Despite her crumbling spine prevented her from doing just that. |
