Skin Colour

Is berating the colour of someone’s skin racist? For example, if Rupert Lowe were to slag off how black Diane Abbot or David Lammy are, would that be considered racism or would than be ok in your eyes?

Or the yellow tinge to the skin that some people from the far east have, would slagging that off be racist?

Are some colours open season tho, such as orange for example?

Why is colour prejudice allowed to be posted?

Orange is not the colour of Trump's skin, it's the colour of the cosmetics he uses.

It perfectly fine to criticise a person's choice of make-up.

So taking the piss out of the way someone looks is a good thing to do?

I’m not a Trump fan by the way, just curious when it comes to line drawing

So if a brown skinned person used cosmetics to make their skin look darker, it’s ok to mock their black skin?

It's not ok and you're making a very good point.

If a woman politician is criticised due to the way she looks it's called out and rightly so.

Indeed, think of all the fuss when that newly elected Green MP turned up to Parliament dressed like a clown.

People called her out on it and there was hell to pay.

"Trump just looks orange. I'm not sure that he actually is..."

But you could say that about anyone. Many women and some men change their perceived skin colour with cosmetics, Katie Price being the perfect example.

I’d guess it’s a bad sunbed experience but it could just as easily be a medical condition. There’s quite a few conditions that can affect skin colour.

I just think it’s fascinating how the colour of one persons skin can be mocked openly in a very abusive manner and it’s considered fine, but to do it about other individuals isn’t. I get some people hate the bloke more than Ian Huntley, but what I don’t get is the abuse about how he looks rather than what he actually does or doesn’t do.

Does his skin colour affect your opinion on the Iran situation?

May I ask what the “official” position is on such comments? If they were reported would they be removed? Each would be taken on its own merits of course, just curious.

Could be about anyone of course, not just Trump, that’s why my OP didn’t name anyone in particular.

It's not racist, racism is about race.

It's just the same as people who bang on about women with lip fillers, insecure people will often have a dig at others appearance

If you think something is abusive or breaks forum rules the best thing to do is report it, saying why. Then whoever is modding can look at it in context.

I know this isn’t fabguys but I used to have a regular fuck buddy who used the forum on there a couple of years ago and they got warned they would get banned if they kept reporting stuff.

Abuse is a very subjective term. Which is why being offended isn’t a crime.

But thanks for your input

Public figures are held to a different standard than private citizens - especially so with Trump, who abuses and insults on a daily basis. But seeing as how he is fat, he is orange and he is a turd, is it an insult or an apt description?

I didn't say it was a good thing, I said it was acceptable to mock someone that looks ridiculous.

If a brown skinned person used cosmetics in a way that made them look ridiculous, it's OK to mock that. If a brown skinned person used cosmetics just to make their skin darker (or lighter), there's nothing to mock.

Abusive comments don't break Forum rules as he's not, I don't think, a Fab member.

The wider issue is the effect of constant foul language and abusive content in multiple threads which often just repeat the same content. They certainly make the Politics Section looks like an unwelcoming place for many Fab users I'm sure, but perhaps the intention is to exclude critical or intelligent voices so ranting can continue unchallenged ?

Let me make it simple for you then.

1. The poster I replied to uses the word 'cunt' and other abusive terms - today's is 'fat turd' - in almost all his contributions.

2. I replied using the word 'cunt'.

3. I don't habitually use that word, or other abusive terms.

4. So yes it was humour, whether successful or not.

5. How's that link about Nigel Farage coming along? You seemed to be called away to an emergency the last time I asked.

You mean "a jury", it wasn't a federal jury. And you mean "explicitly" not implicitly, since they clearly stated that he had done it. But other than that your statement is accurate (if rather emotively phrased).

A couple of words were changed so that it couldn't be construed as breech of copyright and of course fab doesn't allow direct links unless it's a UK newspaper but the words federal and implicitly were not changed from the original court report

That's interesting. I've had a quick search and the only place I can find "federal jury" and "implicitly" is on a FindLaw article labelled as "partially written by AI". Would you mind telling me what site you got that text from?

But I'm guessing that the important part of your post was that Trump was found to have sexually assaulted E Jean Carroll, and that bit is completely accurate.
