Another day another revelation about the Green Party Leader “Zack Polanski” (David Paulden).
This time non payment of Council Tax on a houseboat he was living in. Personally I’ve never found it particularly difficult to pay Council Tax.
This to add to other apparently false claims about his past:
His “acting” experience
False claims to be a spokesperson for the British Red Cross
Embellishment of his “therapy” credentials
False claims about working for the Ministry of Justice
I’m sure Polanski’s star will rapidly wane, and his political “career” is just another in a long line of failed attempts to gain some attention and notoriety.
But what does it say about the quality of political life in Britain that people like Polanski can gain traction? Or that a significant part of the population would take such an obvious quack seriously? |

Surely Donald J Trump has shown us that lying about things is no barrier to high office. Don't take Zac literally, take him seriously |

How can he be taken seriously when as the post you responded to points out he is a habitual lier.

Listen to The Reith Lecture from this year. Absolutely spot on for how the current leaders have got where they are and global society is letting it happen. |

This is also the same fruitcake who used to be a practising "hipnotherapist" and claimed he could increase a woman's breast size through hipnosis. Just another looney tunes flim-flam artist.

I’m sorry.. I thought that money matters didn’t concern anyone anymore when you all literally made excuses for Richard tice not paying his corporation tax…. Farage for not declaring his 5 million pound “gift”
But… hey ho! |

I think what you need to understand, Fabio, is that a £5 million gift from a crypto billionaire that coincides with the recipient deciding to do a complete u-turn on whether to get back into politics is definitely not dodgy in any way, but the council failing to ask for council tax from anyone living in a marina, shows that anyone who failed to pay a bill that they never received simply can’t be trusted. |

"The council tax thing was debunked at least a day ago, keep up.
Can you give us a link to that debunking? Or at least tell us what was wrong in the original claim."
He was paying council tax (as part of his rent) but in a different borough, he spent most of his time at his partner’s houseboat though, which was moored in a leisure marina, where council tax usually doesn’t apply. Only one boat there has been registered for council tax, and that was over 15 years ago. |

They really are scared of him then. But journalism is so fake now I wouldn't believe a word without go ogling around and fact checking. Not that I am a fan of his. Just he dares to speak and is hammered, same interviewers let's racist off the hook. |

I’m not that impressed by Polanski, either, but the way the media attack him does show how worried the wealthy are that he could make them pay some tax. |

They needn’t have worried. Just a little bit of digging and a few gentle interviews and it’s game over for him. |

It's funny that the left criticises Reform voters for not being intelligent enough and then goes on to support a party led by a guy who said he could enlarge boobs using h&pnosis.
As he is now receiving the same level of scrutiny that other politicians are receiving, more and more shit about him will come out. |

We already know that his policies are Pro-Russia - Giving up on nuclear energy and nuclear weapons.
We don't even need to find out anything. We already know that he is just a left wing populist who says things to keep his fringe voter base happy but would fail miserably when he is scrutinised. His comments on the police action during the Golders Green attack is a clear example. If his claims on boobs enlargement are anything to go by, I don't think he is capable of running the government either.
The majority of the population already knows this. There is nothing to find out. It's just the fringe left that lives in denial. |

This is pretty much it. Sometimes you see the same people who agree that Reform getting deeper scrutiny is welcome but then complain when the greens get the same thing. Nature of the beast, the more any party rises the greater the scrutiny |

It’s interesting how much people are willing to overlook when it comes to voting. And the false equivalences they make.
Would you trust someone to do the right thing for you if they had been given a ‘gift’ of £5 million from someone who wants them to do things that are detrimental to you? |

If you want to see what is wrong with politics in this country then this conversation highlights it. Reform is run by a bunch of grifters and rabble rousers who play fast and loose. The Greens are run by by someone who has, at best, a tentative grip on the truth and also plays fast and loose. Labour and the Tories aren’t mentioned because they have both blown themselves up and the Liberals are just irrelevant.
No one is willing to defend their parties choices and everyone just thinks that muck racking about the other parties (very obvious) inadequacies will take the spotlight away from their (very obvious) inadequacies. |

Is this the only test of trust you know? The only question is whether a politician is bought and paid for by a Thai citizen? I don't think Hitler and Stalin were bought and paid for by Thai citizens either.
It’s interesting how much people are willing to overlook when it comes to voting. And the false equivalences they make.
Would you trust someone to do the right thing for you if they had been given a ‘gift’ of £5 million from someone who wants them to do things that are detrimental to you?
And would you trust someone to do the right thing for the country if he wants the country to give up its nuclear reactors and weapons and has a record of cheating innocent people with a ridiculous boob enlargement therapy? It's not a false equivalence at all.
No one is willing to defend their parties choices and everyone just thinks that muck racking about the other parties (very obvious) inadequacies will take the spotlight away from their (very obvious) inadequacies."

"It's funny that the left criticises Reform voters for not being intelligent enough and then goes on to support a party led by a guy who said he could enlarge boobs using h&pnosis.
As he is now receiving the same level of scrutiny that other politicians are receiving, more and more shit about him will come out.
Do you reckon we’ll find out he’s bought and paid for by a crypto billionaire who has taken Thai citizenship?
We already know that his policies are Pro-Russia - Giving up on nuclear energy and nuclear weapons.
We don't even need to find out anything. We already know that he is just a left wing populist who says things to keep his fringe voter base happy but would fail miserably when he is scrutinised. His comments on the police action during the Golders Green attack is a clear example. If his claims on boobs enlargement are anything to go by, I don't think he is capable of running the government either.
The majority of the population already knows this. There is nothing to find out. It's just the fringe left that lives in denial.
But you think he’s probably not bought and paid for by a Thai citizen, yeah?
Should a person be bought and paid for by a Thai citizen to be a bad politician?
Terrible, you could never trust them to be doing things for the good of the country.
Neither could Polanski be.

The Greens have always been anti-Nuclear, it’s kind of their thing. I might not necessarily agree with it but it’s a longstanding Green position.
Farage had walked away from politics, and declared he wouldn’t be standing, then a £5 million ‘gift’ later, he’s standing in Clacton, kicking Tice down to deputy, and extolling the virtues of crypto to anyone who will listen.
Do you honestly not see the difference? |

No. Polanski is a lifelong serial failure just trying his hand at another grift. Wasn’t he in the Liberal Democrats once?
What makes me laugh is that people like Polanski spend their time trying to convince us all that they’ve got something profound to say about our condition, and they can’t even manage their own very basic finances, something that the rest of us do without a second thought.
The same could be said for people like Haigh (minor mobile phone fraud), Rayner (can’t understand basic tax), anyone in Labour grifting over a few concert tickets or a new suit. These people are just tenth rate no marks. |

That being their long-standing thing doesn't make it right. It's severely detrimental to the country and it leaves us in mercy of other countries. There is no reason why a "green" party must be against Nuclear energy.
In case you didn't know, there have been Environmental NGOs who have been caught being funded by Russia. Making Europe lose its nuclear energy capabilities is well within Russia's interests. They already succeeded doing that with Germany, thanks to Merkel.

You should look at _ellhungvwe's post. I am not a Farage fan. I am not going to vote for him. I have listed all of Polanski's problems separately. Anyone who thinks Polanski is somehow better than Farage is just blinded by ideology.

Different types of bad politicians. But as bad as each other. |

"The council tax thing was debunked at least a day ago, keep up."
"Can you give us a link to that debunking? Or at least tell us what was wrong in the original claim."
"He was paying council tax (as part of his rent) but in a different borough, he spent most of his time at his partner’s houseboat though ..."
So he used the houseboat as his main residence, which means that he should have paid council tax on it. Paying council tax on his secondary residence doesn't mean that he's exempt for the tax on his primary residence.
"... which was moored in a leisure marina, where council tax usually doesn’t apply. Only one boat there has been registered for council tax, and that was over 15 years ago."
Is that really your argument - most of the people there don't pay council tax, therefore Zack doesn't need to either? |

That depends. If that someone has already got the £5m, there's no further reason for them to suck up to the person that gave it to them. They would be free to act on their principles with no fear of losing out.
Unlike for instance a political leader whose party gets most of its money in regular donations from trade unions. I wouldn't trust them at all because they will change policy randomly as their pay masters issue new demands. |

What’s the betting this is the only top up Farage has had?
You’re talking of course as though right wing politicians never take money.
They’re all at it. |

I've not said otherwise. But the guy above seems to think that the size of the donation somehow makes it more powerful. That's clearly not the case if it's already been received, and there aren't any future payments promised. |

Would you be happy to do your job for half your wage? After all it’s not the amount that matters, just that you are being paid. |

Labour received £4,000,000 from Quadrature just before the General Election, a hedge fund heavily invested in arms and Middle East Oil. I'm sure it was a donation given philanthropically with no sinister intent.....the fact it was given in the narrow time window where it wouldn't need to be declared until after the election was sure coincidence....
Similarly, Labour's biggest individual donor was Dale Vince, who's energy company just so happened to be given the contract to supply the GLA with power....
We have threads running where Reform are ridiculed as not being a serious party while simultaneously having threads like this where apparently it's akin to a war crime that anything untoward has potentially happened in Reform and they're given more scrutiny than the government.
All while turning a blind eye to the sleaze and corruption that's infesting the current government. £750k hidden from the Electoral Commission by Labour Together anyone?
I'm by no means a Reform fanboi, but the ridiculous pile on by the haters of Farage and Reform is embarrassing to watch. |

Very true.
It will also drive more people to Reform who may feel good old Nige is getting a rough ride.
For me, the biggest question is why do decent hard working people feel the need to go to Reform and similarly Trump in USA.
Maybe its time for a huge shake up, can we really go on like this for the next 25 years.
I'm no fan of Reform but find the lack of, well everything, from both Labour and Tories too much to stomach.
They've both had huge stints in power and achieved pretty much nothing, just the same old, same old.

The only reason I continue turning up at the company I work for is because they keep paying me at the end of the month. If they stopped doing that and instead gave me £1m, I'd say thank you very much and then go do something else with my time. If they'd given me £5m I wouldn't instead choose to continue working for them just because they've been so nice.
For a gift given in advance with no expectation of a regular payment, the size of the gift is irrelevant. |
