Can the media be bought?
Odd question. Private media (newspapers, independent news bulletins etc) are "bought" because they will represent the interests of the owner of the publication.
State owned media will represent the interests of the state. |

Not sure the media can be bought? David Cameron tried to get the editor of the Daily Mail sacked during the EU referendum campaign. It all came out a few weeks ago in the news that David Cameron tried to have him removed because of his pro leave coverage in the Mail, which was damaging his Remain campaign. Astonishing really considering David Cameron used to shout from the rooftops about the importance of a free and independent press and the importance of freedom of speech but he used his own standing, position of power and authority and influence to try to subvert the freedom of the press and he was in effect trying to suppress free speech because it went against what he was campaigning for. I'm glad he got found out, lost the referendum, lost his job and the public can now see him for what he really is. |
