Continue here, it was interesting seeing the replyes, there will be a march in london calling for a peoples vote today, it is said to be the largest anti brexit demonstration ever seen, whats your view? I agree there should be one as you woulnt buy a house without a second opinion, also there wasnt a contingency plan.

the thing with the talk of the second reforendum is there is still not clarity about what the options are, assuming No deal is an option. WTO is a trade arrangement. It does not cover the ireland issue. Or lay out clearly where we are with all the other issues the technical notes have brought out. Or how the rest of the world will view our regulations.

Nobody voted knowing how rubbish the government and labour would be in negotiating a position.

People were upbeat about the prospects of leaving, but that has turned out to be fiction. We get a chance in a General Election to reverse our choices - the same should be the case with the referendum. This is way more important than a General Election.

The Democratic option is once we know the options to allow the voting population to make their mind up when the facts are know.

Even Brexiteers don’t seem to be getting what they want, so how about voting choices of:

1. Stay

2. Go

Then a second vote on the same paper of:

1. Hard Brexit

2. Norway model or Chequers Agreement?

It is totally unreasonable to discount the Irish issue, too many people on both sides died and were injured trying to achieve peace in Ireland. We need to reach an agreement that sustains this, whatever the outcome.

But we've already had two. The first Remain won with 17,300,000 and 67%.

The second Leave won with 17,300,00 and 52%.

In my book that puts Remain ahead, not Leave. A third referendum could be the decider.

People's vote call it what it is a second referendum. Some people think just because you change the name it will make it more likely. We had a vote and the verdict was leave.March can't come soon enough then we will be out and stop all this continuous bickering

Why call it a second referendum when it would actually be the third. In the first referendum Remain won with 17,300,000 and 67% of the vote. Or do you only count the referendum Leave won?

I am a strong remainer, especially given that I live on the border in Ireland and it is vital for my employment but the people spoke and their decision no matter how they feel about it must stand!

Northern Ireland needs a backstop because without it the consequences will be huge!

It has also now come to light that the so called people's vote campaign mocked and made fun of suicide at the weekend.

The official People's Vote display at Saturdays protest march read....

"UK now in so much trouble government appointed Suicide Minister! Don't top yourself. Demand People's Vote. "

Mental health groups and grieving loved ones of suicide victims condemned the remain inspired slogan. As one in 4 brits suffer from one form or

another of mental illness and suicide is the biggest killer of men aged under 45, it really is appalling that the so called People's vote could run such a slogan on its official display.

What's wrong with you Leavers that you get so puffy about an estimated number. I estimated it was about 800,000 it was actually about 700,000. No one actually counts every person you know. The official estimate is done by looking at the crowd density and the length of the march. When they say 700,000 it could actually be anything from above 600,000 to below 800,000. I did my estimate my a quick gestimate of the number of people with in 50 yards of me multiplied by the route length. I estimated about 800,000 but with a much bigger margin of error.

Given that every year the voting demographics change by approximately 1% - deaths taking 1% out and new 18 year olds adding from the other end, the shape of the voting population has changed by enough to change the overall vote.

Whether it was 650,000 or 800,000 is moot as the number was clearly significant.

Everyone talks about the brexiteers being angry if they don’t get their own way, but the same could easily be true for the 29m who didn’t vote for Brexit...

A new referendum is a good idea.

"We already voted and a result was found ....deal with it x"

I’d probably have a lot more time for leave voters if so many of them didn’t just resort to mindless bollocks like this.

Yes, we know there was a vote. There was also a vote a number of decades ago. Things change. New information is brought to light. New issues discovered.

To simply say ‘we voted, get over it’ is basically saying ‘I hearby ignore all new information since the last vote’. Or if you want to be a bit more emotive about it ‘I hereby do not believe in democracy’.

But besides some leavers being unable to grasp the concept of democracy, it just doesn’t make any sense. Imagine building a house;

“Here looks like a nice plot, let’s build a house here”

“Ok, have you done a survey?”

“No. People spoken. Build house. Now”

“Ok, what do you want it to look like?”

“Don’t care. People spoken. Build house!”

“We’ve just had a survey in saying there is a coal mine underneath, and may be subsidence”

“Don’t care build house”

“In the meantime we’ve realised that building materials have gone up in price and you are not going to have profit left over from sale of your old house. In fact you’ll be I debt”

“Build house. People spoken”.

It is just ludicrous.

To play devils advocate.

We don’t have any new information really over the past two years. We knew that this was going to be a disaster for the country and a clusterfuck to organise our way out. Leavers didn’t understand or care and that doesn’t appear to have changed.

But besides some leavers being unable to grasp the concept of democracy, it just doesn’t make any sense. Imagine building a house;

“Here looks like a nice plot, let’s build a house here”

“Ok, have you done a survey?”

“No. People spoken. Build house. Now”

“Ok, what do you want it to look like?”

“Don’t care. People spoken. Build house!”

“We’ve just had a survey in saying there is a coal mine underneath, and may be subsidence”

“Don’t care build house”

“In the meantime we’ve realised that building materials have gone up in price and you are not going to have profit left over from sale of your old house. In fact you’ll be I debt”

“Build house. People spoken”.

It is just ludicrous.

-Matt

To play devils advocate.

We don’t have any new information really over the past two years. We knew that this was going to be a disaster for the country and a clusterfuck to organise our way out. Leavers didn’t understand or care and that doesn’t appear to have changed."

Oh, the information in the most part was always there, just maybe people not aware of it. Or the information had not been analysed to asset the impact.

No you are not thick or racist because you voted to leave. I would say you are thick because you are explicitly deciding to ignore any new information or analysis that has been done in the past two years.

You could be right, then the question becomes. Would people who voted leave be prepared to absorb the greater understanding of the information.

Or would there just be more of Exhibit A as above?

Nothing relevant in this posting in my industry it's opening up opportunities in Australia and the far East which the EU prevented previously.

There are obviously some losses but long term we will be back in control of our own destiny, some losers but many gain .

It's fully understood by those that voted out but not by the blinkered remaining moaners . You will get it in the end i imagine. Look forward not back guys

We have new info (ish) through the technical notes.

We also have new info on what range of deals are (really) available or considered.

The reforendum offered us a Just Eat range of menus to choose from.

We’re quickly seeing really it’s just maybe one or two.

Not everyone likes McChequers or Chicken Nodeal.

Leavers have taken on board plenty of new information over the last 2 years. In particular the absolute bollocks that remains Project Fear turned out to be, a recession that remain predicted in the event of a vote to leave, which never happened!!! Just about every economic doom and gloom scenario that remain predicted in 2016 has failed to materialise. 500,000 job losses in the event of a vote to leave and instead we've seen employment levels sky rocket in the UK and unemployment levels near historic lows. Remains original project fear has been thoroughly and comprehensively discredited, and yet remainers think they can pull the same crap all over again now with ridiculous amounts of scaremongering about leaving the EU and expect the public to believe them??? Pull the other one, the public are wise to the absolute shit that remainers spew out on a daily basis and are fed up to the back teeth of it. The public are also fed up with the sight of haughty, over privileged sore losers marching as they did last weekend, 700,000 dummies should have been handed out to these spoilt brats and at least it would've kept their gobs shut!

So yes we've had a gut full of new information over the last 2 years and we can see just how full of shit remainers really are!

Just a quick quote from one of the key architects of the People's Vote Campaign, Tony Blair's former spin doctor and right hand man Alistair Campbell said in 2003 during the protest March (over a million people) against the Iraq war, he said

"These people are full of their own self righteousness. "

And yet here he is, full of self righteousness about leaving the EU, and thinking a smaller number who marched on his march last weekend should be listened to, while he dismissed out of hand a larger group of people marching against the war in Iraq in 2003. A bigger, slimy, grubby hypocritical cunt you will struggle to find in British politics than Alistair Campbell.

Exhibit B.

I appreciate most leavers aren’t as ignorant as this poster, and most don’t resort to petty insults. But this illustrates very well the perception I have that plenty of leavers either don’t care or don’t understand the information presented to them.

So two years I’ve passed and I maintain we don’t really know anything we didn’t know before the vote. Maybe we do have clarification on some points. But that means nothing to people like this. Maybe it’s human nature, people don’t want to admit their wrong.

Plus for some Brexit wasn’t ever about what’s best for the country. So for those, they couldn’t give a testicle about how poor, irrelevant and oppressed we end up as a nation.

Even if you don’t agree with them, ridiculing people for exercising their right to protest is part of the slippery slope into totalitarianism.

I’ve read plenty of your posts on here, and this is a common theme of yours. But really, I’m glad people like you don’t crop up too often. Most of us don’t want to like in an oppressive state, baffles me why you do.

And yet the response is still typically "You lost, get over it!".

Bristol East

Paul Mason on Question Time last night captured it for me.

Brexit is not the property of any party, he said.

I see something similar on here - those who voted Leave think they have the monopoly on what it looks like.

That path is filled with hubris.

Most people, regardless of how they voted, recognise the validity of the 2016 result.

The referendum decision has been implemented. Its currency is over.

The issue now is what Britain looks like post-Brexit.

There is no mandate for that. Mrs May wanted one and was humbled.

The problem we have as is a country is:

a) the Cabinet cannot even agree what Brexit looks like

b) the ruling Conservative Party cannot agree what Brexit looks like

c) Parliament cannot agree what Brexit looks like.

You cannot negotiate with a third party when you cannot even agree what your own negotiating position is.

A wiser leader would have sought consensus in the national interest.
