Ok, here's the detailed analysis for voting in the North West Region.

Current Polling in the North West Region with likely seats is

BREXIT 32% - 3 seats

Labour 22% - 2 Seats

LibDem 17% - 1 Seat

Green 9% - 1 Seat

Tory 9% - 1 Seat

UKIP 3% - 0 Seats

Change 3% - 0 Seats

If the LibDems can get up to 18%, and there pretty dam close, then the LibDems will get 2 seats and the Conservatives will get 0.

So where do we get the extra 1% for the LibDems from?

The Greens are currently on 9% and would still hold their seat if that dropped to 7% but that's really to tight to call. I would not recommend Green Remain voters switching to LibDems as, if the Green vote falls below 7%, that will let the Tories keep their seat.

On the other hand ChangeUK has 3%. If all that switches to Green they still only get 1 seat but if it switches to LibDem then they get over 18% and the extra seat from the Tories.

So, in the North West Region, the best advice is:-

1) All those who voted Green last time, vote Green again.

2) All those who Voted LibDem last time vote LibDem again.

3) All those thinking of voting ChangeUK vote LibDem this time instead.

4) If you voted Labour last time but don't want BREXIT vote LibDem this time.

Following this advice will give us the best chance of getting then maximum number of Remain seats and the seat gained is actually from the Conservatives (an extra bonus for many).

However the final piece of advice is, what ever you do, and if you can't bring yourself to follow this advice, go out and vote and vote for the Remain party of your choice what ever chance you think they have. Every vote for a Remain party is vote to stop Nigel and every single vote for ChangeUK, Green or the LibDems helps to send the message that we, the people in the North West, don't want BREXIT.

We have already had a Referendum.

A Referendum, is a one off vote.

Brexit, won.

Just because it didn't go the way you wanted, is no reason or excuse to have another vote.

It's called Democracy.

Also, your MEP won't have any opportunity to stop, delay or speed up BREXIT.

Vote for who you think will represent the interests of your constituency in Europe.

In 1933 in Germany there was an election that had an 89% turnout and the Nationalist Socialist Party got 17.3 million votes and overwhelmingly defeated the opposition parties.

Just because a majority of people voted for Brexit in the NW does not mean that the people have voted for their own best interest. History is a great place to explore how agitated people can make hurried and incorrect decisions when faced with seemingly simple solutions to complex problems.

You mistyped ‘facts’, you clearly meant lies

If you genuinely believed that the country ‘still’ wanted Brexit, then you’d happily agree to another vote. The problem is that you know that with hindsight the majority would vote to stay. Surely in a democracy this would ensure we did have a 2nd vote - only in an autocracy would you deny the will of the people

Brexitology at work....

Remainer posts a logical argument that is straightforward, simple to understand and incontrovertible - what to do???

Simples. Discredit the poster and thereby discredit the message.

You could have tried to engage by questioning the reasons why 17.3 million Germans voted for the Nazi Party in 1933. We could have spoken about how the original populist first stoked up anger amongst those with nothing to lose and gradually asserted his message that the ills that had befallen the mighty German empire lay at the feet of others and the solutions were simple.

How many of those 17.3 million Germans do you think may have regretted the way they voted - 5 years later? A decade later? But if you had told those 17.3 million Germans in 1933 that they were being short sighted and not thinking things through, they would have been outraged.

People do not always vote for their own best interest even though they may think they are doing so at the time. In my opinion, this is one of those times.

Unfortunately for you more of the people in the north west do want Brexit, you just can't bring yourself to admit it!

History is a great place to explore how agitated people can make hurried and incorrect decisions when faced with seemingly simple solutions to complex problems. well done for the best scare story from a remainer brexit =ww3 priceless lol

Grow up.

It is about how easily people can be manipulated by populists - nothing more than that.

Sometimes you are the very caricature of a Brexiter. Read what is said and take it at face value - why exaggerate and assume? grow up lol and this from the guy who called leave voters traitors racists oiks chavs and riff raff

In my opinion, this is one of those times."

do you not discredit leavers when you call them names on here then ? And to be honest I can’t really comment on how ppl in Germany felt all most 90 yrs ago different time altogether I could hazard a guess that if they had won the war ten yrs after they voted they would of been pleased with themselves but that was then this is now not even slightly comparable so I don’t get the point tbf

"Parliament and remoaners have caused the mess "

Fuck off outta here with deluded bs, it's hardcore leavers in Parliament who have blocked multiple attempts, we'd be out with some sort of deal by now if it wasn't for them.

But of course you're using Brexit Logic to mow play the victim, before you were shouting Project Fear when you were being warned about things, and now that it's came true you're crying and blaming "remoaners" for not helping. This is trump supporter levels of frustrating. You lot wanted a hard Brexit, you're getting it, accept the shit that follows and stop trying to shift the blame.

"Also, your MEP won't have any opportunity to stop, delay or speed up BREXIT.

Vote for who you think will represent the interests of your constituency in Europe."

And if you believe that your interests are best represented by candidates from parties that believe we should Remain in the EU then vote either LibDem, Green or ChangeUK. If you also believe that having more Remain seats in the Euro Parliament will best represent your interest then, in the North West region, vote LibDem unless you voted Green last time, in which case vote Green.

I'm also informing them that, if they want to get the maximum number of seats for pro EU, anti BREXIT parties their best bet is to vote LibDem unless they voted Green last time, in which case, in order to stop the Green vote collapsing and giving the seat to the soft BREXIT Tories, they should vote Green again this time.

Where's the moaning in that?

3 years old. Let's wait and see what the figures are on Thursday.

I'd say it's fair to say that votes for BREXIT Party and UKIP are votes for a hard 'no deal' BREXIT. Votes for Conservative are a soft May like deal and votes for LibDem, Green and ChangeUK are votes for no BREXIT.

The real fly in the ointment is Labour: are they hard, soft or no BREXIT? Who knows?

"Ok, here's the detailed analysis for voting in the North West Region.

Unfortunately for you more of the people in the north west do want Brexit, you just can't bring yourself to admit it! The voice of reality. Some people are unaware of the concept of losing gratefully and respecting results.

If 48% - 52% is unfinished business then so is 52% - 48%, however many referendum we may, or may not, have.

If it was 99% leave you still wouldn't be able to accept it! "

I still wouldn't accept that it was a good idea and I'd still campaign, debate and argue against it. However if a result, either way, was more than 60% of those that voted and 40% of the total electorate, all would have to accept it.

History is a great place to explore how agitated people can make hurried and incorrect decisions when faced with seemingly simple solutions to complex problems. well done for the best scare story from a remainer brexit =ww3 priceless lol

In my opinion, this is one of those times."

It is difficult to see what relevance events in Germany in the 30s have to today.

How can anyone claim that people were manipulated. All the facts were presented and everyone voted on their preferred preference .

I sat down at my kitchen table and took into account three key areas of information before voting.

The analysis indicated that I should vote one way but I decided to ignore the analysis and voted based on other factors .

It would be interesting to know how many leavers votes were lost due to project fear.

If we were to have a second referendum l am satisfied that leave would win by an even bigger margin.

The behaviour of some MPs in obstructing the process is a disgrace.

Like I said in another reply, is Labour hard 'no deal' BREXIT, soft BREXIT or no BREXIT? Who knows?

I personally think that most people who want a hard 'no deal' BREXIT, in these Euro Elections will vote BREXIT party or UKIP. So I don't think we can count a Labour votes as a vote for a hard 'no deal' BREXIT. I also know quite a large number of Labour activists have been heavily involved in the People's Vote Campaign and a number of other pro EU campaigns and are strong Remainers at heart. Unfortunately their first loyalty is to Labour and quite a few feel they can't, in good conscience, vote for another party and still remain members of the Labour Party. Although I have told them no one will ever know I also understand where they're coming from, I struggled with a similar dilemma myself for years. There are also a lot of Labour voters who just always vote Labour regardless and, whilst I don't think Labour can rely on that vote indefinitely I also think that, if it turns out for these Euro Elections, it will hold and vote Labour.

In short I really don't think you can count the Labour vote as truly Leave and definitely not Remain so, although both sides before the vote will claim a vote for Labour is a vote for the other side while after the vote will try to claim that it was mostly a vote for their side.

Personally I'm not including it in my calculations either way. However, if you are a Labour voter and are strongly for Remain Labour can afford to loose 4 to 5 %age points and still pick up the 2 seats it's going get anyway and your Remain vote might be better used voting Green or LibDem.

I think if either the hard BREXIT parties or the the pro EU parties do significantly better than each other it will make a difference, especially if it's on a high turn out. Currently it's at 35% BREXIT and 29% Remain in the North West region. Given 4% margin either way that means that Remain could actually be anywhere from 25% to 34% and Leave 31% to 38%. It's quite possible that the Remain vote could end up larger than the Leave vote and that would have an impact.

There's everything to fight for still and a win for Remain is very possible.

Conversely, if you are labour but favour brexit then this is one way to tell comrade corbyn to get off his allotment fence by voting for the brexit party.

Comes to something when even the lib dems have got clearer policies - they can't even normally agree what biscuits to have when all 7 of them get together.

Since when did 32% (BREXIT) and 3% (UKIP) make a majority? Even if you include 9% (soft Tory BREXIT) that still only makes 45%.

And what about the labour numbers? Technically they are still leave, though quite what sort of leave that is I am not sure, and it will have changed again in an hours time. Poll today showed that people and even party members didn't know if labour were leave or stay. So would people be voting for labour under a misconception that they were voting leave or voting stay?

Conversely, if you are labour but favour brexit then this is one way to tell comrade corbyn to get off his allotment fence by voting for the brexit party.

Comes to something when even the lib dems have got clearer policies - they can't even normally agree what biscuits to have when all 7 of them get together. "

Technically correct but the reality is is that, unless the Labour vote totally collapses they are going to get 2 seats and unless there is a massive turn around in the BREXIT party fortunes for the worse they are going to get 3 seats. Neither of them are sitting close to a 9% margin either above or below their current rating so there would have to be a massive move either for or against them for either to loose or gain another seat above the 2 for labour and 3 for BREXIT expected. There is no tactical advantage in any more UKIP or Labour Leave voters voting BREXIT Party, it won't change the number of seats either Labour or BREXIT party gets.

What you seemed to have missed in your opening post OP is that Tommy Robinson is standing as an independent MEP candidate in the North West region. None of the polls mention him but i think the polls are seriously underestimating the support he will get and i wouldn't bet against him winning a seat, such is the strength of feeling and anger out there against the establishment. In the last election in 2014 the last placed MEP in the North West region gained a seat with around just 8% of the vote.

Whether Tommy gets a seat or not isn't relevant to tactical voting for Remain. The chances are that, if Tommy does get a seat, it will at the cost of a BREXIT Party seat and BREXIT UKIP votes. However it's just moving the BREXIT seats around. From a tactical point of view every vote above 9? that Tommy gets is a BREXIT vote that definitely won't get another BREXIT seat but could reduce the number of seats the BREXIT Party gets. However I doubt Tommy will even get 9? and has no chance of getting anywhere near 18? to start losing BREXIT party seats.

"Ok, here's the detailed analysis for voting in the North West Region.

"

Great advice xx

Nobody sane wants nor expects democracy to be a static activity, done once and then those opinions of those people at that rigid point to force all people, for all time, to have to endure archaic inflexibility at any cost forever.

Democracy is a fluid ongoing process and should be accompanied by honest politicians with truthful campaign activities and materials. As the population and its needs changes, democracy must include and represent these. People die, become adults, move in and out of countries and healthy democracy must respect this or die as no longer representative of its people.

The binary choice was also preceded by promises of unrealistic or impossible options of leaving. People were and continue to be dissatisfied with those improper insula to democracy. The reality of leaving a many decades long union was for it to be complex and involve 1 country negotiating against 27, to deliver a transition that was acceptable to all. If any one person thought it would not be slow and thorough, as it encompasses all aspects of a state's interactions with those others, they were taking a facile view of this. People are responsible for managing their own emotional states and accepting responsibility for misunderstandings that they've made. We're all human and make them and other mistakes.

Cant believe we are back here but asking a simple question which required a very complicated answer was plain stupid. The question in and of itself was not necessarily wrong but the simplistic arguments presented at the time were hopelessly ill informed and ill judged. If the solution offered had been to form a royal commission to find the best way to leave the EU it would probably still be working on it but ownership of the process would have been taken away from the political parties allowing them to get on with running the country and it would have taken all the heat out of what has become an incredibly divisive battle that has split the country and damaged its reputation around the world. Cameron, Bojo, JRM, all under experienced and over reaching themselves - shame on them!
