You don't really need someone to go with you. I'm sure you'll meet a few people at it that you've spoken to in the past.
Once you're in, given the tour and settle in a bit it's fine.
There's always someone there that can help you feel welcome (in a non sexual way).
After you're comfortable, it's up to you what you wanna do.
Had I been able to make it I'd have offered you my hand, but you really don't need it.
