my dad (God rest him) used to always open the back door to let the old year OUT and then open the front door to let the new year IN. I now find myself doing the same, and dont quite know why, but cos he done it, it's a nice way to remember him by too!

We do that too!

Same as u it's passed down from relatives, altho its quite a good theory - he cracks up coz the house is freezin after it lol.

Got to keep the traditions tho..

**Only An Excuse and Hogmanay TV!

**Not being able to get thru to ppl at the Bells for 10mins

**Watching Jackie Bird shrivel a wee bit more every year..

**Steak Pie dinner the next day

**Making resolutions we never keep!

Hope yous have a good one when it comes!

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

Jools Holland's Hootenanay, throwing one of my handsome sons out the door a lump of coal or shortie and a dram in hand... used to have fireworks every year but since my lovely is gone we just watch others' now.

A big roast rib of beef with all the trimmings for New Years dinner.

My mum used to make us clean top to bottom right through the house, and dad had the back door and front door opening thing going on too. xxxxxxx

er...guess

When I was wee and my dad and grandad, both shipyard men, were still alive we'd open the windows to hear the horns of the ships on the river welcome in the new year. It was a reassurance that shipbuilding, commerce and Glasgow's prosperity would continue in the year and years to come.

I still open the windows but it's been a long while since I heard a ship's horn
