Do it East to West, the West coast is a lot more scenic than the East.

From Inverness I stopped in at Dornoch, which was nice and then drove straight up and stayed just outside Thurso. Do John O Groats but mainly just to take a picture of the sign and say you've been there. West of Thurso it starts to get more interesting. You've got Smoo Cave, Durness - which has a big beach to walk along. Then went down and stayed at Kylesku, had a lovely seafood dinner in the hotel there. You could go to Sandwood Bay beach. You need to park up and its about an hour walk to get to it but it's so peaceful there. After Kylesku went further west and visited clachtoll and achmelvich beaches, if you get a nice day you could believe you were in the Caribbean. Further down you have Lochinver which has a nice pie shop right at the water. There were deer cooling off in the water when I was there. Go to Ullapool and eat in the seafood shack. Further down is pooled, Gairloch and Torridon to pass through. Maybe drive the mountain road over to Applecross and stop for a drink there. The last place I stayed was Plockton, lovely wee village on the water with palm trees and a great seafood restaurant.

Clydebank

We done it 2yrs ago this month, was really quite and got super lucky with the weather. 1st stop was Rosemarkie for us, John O Groats is just a stop for a picture and nothing else tbh. Lunch in Thurso then the proper scenery begins once you get to a village called Bettyhill. Stayed at Durness, Smoo Cave is amazing. We went to the Bone Caves, easy enough walk half way up the mountain. Stop in at Ullapool, go to the leisure centre, have a swim, sauna and a proper shower lol then enjoy the drive down the Bealach na Ba

This is on my bucket list to do in my motorhome just afraid it’s too busy for campsite park ups. Don’t mind odd wild camp night but I much prefer a campsite and a lot of them close for the winter months
