Just wanted to gauge consensus here…

I always intend to do a social, in a neutral place, for a first meet up, is that the norm?

Recent interaction ended because I refused to meet at their house, which seemed a bit of an over-reaction.

I’d agree with you but everyone has their preferences and that’s all it is. It’s Fab, it’s weird and wonderful and people are magically ever confusing. Don’t lose a moment trying to understand such things. Stick to your own rules and move on

I always have a social in a public place 1st for my own safety plus I've been catfished before, I know some folk are happy to go straight to a house aswel right enough.. ita just each person's preference 😀

I have on the past met straight at my house but I will always meet someone new publicly first now after an incident once before when I didn’t feel particularly safe with someone I said no to. A social meet first is always what I am going to do and if someone doesn’t want to then they are not for me

Yeah seemed a bit of an over reaction for what was a simple request, an half hour coffee could have ended up at theirs… who knows lol

We find that as our time is precious with other aspects of everyday life we just don't have the time for socials, we prefer to skip that part. Each to their own.
