"I bang on and on about the new pure I’ve joined, £11 a month for a year as it’s new opened. Brilliant price…still not been after 3 months "
That's pretty decent I want to join a 24hr one as I find 7pm the sweet spot as anything between 5-7 is packed with imagers... |

"Have the gyms quietened down after the NY?…"
I have been using the new cumbernauld puregym and it's packed til about 8 at night. It was horrendous in January and unfortunately it's only got marginally better. |

I avoided it when it opened for that reason, alongside the parking issue that was going on. Used to always train at 9pm, think that will have to continue to avoid the groups |

Slightly off topic I'm thinking about going to a gym not been since late teens was never my thing, played a lot if football up until mid 40s play bit if tennis do a lot of walking prefered exercise as a competitive nature but finding it harder to find people my age into team sport
Any pointers for the gym for someone new to it and never really bought into the whole gym culture |

If you're unsure get an induction class or book a trainer for a couple of sessions to get used to it. Really all depends on how you like to train, on your own or with others. If you need motivation just go to classes and get involved. Unless you're going to a weightlifting gym most are very straightforward and people just let you get on with what you want to do |

As an ex-boxer and boxing coach I do not frequent these type of gyms I did get a membership for Pure Gym at Robroyston but went infrequently as that sort of gym is not my thing
Watching my mate (also former pro boxer) now running classes as a PT with the focus more on boxing fitness gave me the notion to start out on my own
Currently coaching a White Collar Boxer who has a fight in March, will get it out of the way first.
I did run a gym for 2 years where I had 5 sessions per week for amateur boxers. We did do a kids night and a ladies only night but I was often on my own without support
There are legal issues when your on your own with a class of approx 30 kids aged 6-11

It's way busier than when it opened. Within the first month 6pm to 9pm was actually doable. The saving grace is the racks are normally always free so you can get a lot done without needing a bench.
The other issue is they are limited on the machines they have, with only two lat pull downs, 2 chest fly's etc. |
