The art of holding a conversation
Jump to: Newest in thread
Not engaging in conversation is acceptable if they are not interested. Conversations also fizzle out for a variety of reasons, again totally acceptable.
From my experience - what I find unpalatable is when women message me and expect me to drive the momentum of conversation whilst they engage in pithy responses. The irony isn't lost on me when I look at their profiles and they've mentioned that they're looking to chat extensively with articulate people and not just meet after a few short messages.
It would be nice if they could practice what they preach, not resign themselves to lip service whilst falling foul of their own caveats.
Thankfully this isn't a common occurrence, for me anyway. |

When you try and engage in conversations and just get short blunt answers with no engagement back, then for me, it's time to leave the conversation.
For example,
If you ask someone how their day was and you get the answer, "great thanks" instead of something like "great thanks, had a good day at work, how about you?"
We replied to a message once, giving a couple of potential engagement points to get a conversation going and got a reply that simply said "cool" |

The two posts directly above, sum it up really.
The effort and desire to communicate to find that connection or chemistry needs to exist. Its a two way street and put simply many are not on the same page.
The site has evolved over the years and now unbalanced with the many who don't, won't or can't.
Expectations now need to be lowered with an outcome very unlikely unfortunately.

"Think it’s mixed.
Had conversations with replies consisting of yes, no and lol. Cannae be bothered with that.
Preach "
Have you had that also?
I was approached, but that’s all there was.
I’m not an entertainments manager, so just moved on |

In all honesty as difficult as it is , lack of conversation shows lack of interest , if someone is interested in you they'll engage with you .. in a site thats geared toward written responses 1 word answers are probably the users polite response to someone they have zero interest in .
Best not too over think it and move along to someone that will give you what your looking for in the art of conversation. |

It's mixed for me, I've noticed some men get bored very quick if you don't meet them as quick as they want. That's on them though we all have a life to navigate round, however I've found it difficult to keep chatting with a view to eventually meet up, probably picking the wrong ones haha |

The old method of communication with fellow swingers, as I recall in the 80/90's was via a post box number type thing run by the 'contact's ' magazines... so pen and old fashioned paper..🤓
...I don't remember getting many replies there either... |
