Let's see...

Trump lost the popular vote by almost 3 million

Around 72 million Americans voted for someone other than Trump

Trump has the lowest approval rating of any new President

Trump hit majority disapproval faster than any previous President

Also, just because Trump won the election DOES NOT mean that his opponents have to simply sit down and shut up.

Indeed, the incompetence that Trump is displaying only INCREASES the need for the electorate to hold him to account.

For example, Trump's picking fights with the Judiciary over the suspension of his 'Travel Ban' shows that he has no understanding of the relationship between the Three Branches of Government.

He seems to be blissfully unaware that Presidential Executive Orders are subject to the same CHECKS AND BALANCES as laws passed by Congress.

In the same way UKIP won 3.8million votes(according to a quick google search) but only won two seats in parliament, whereas the SNP only won 1.4million votes yet ended up with 56 seats

what did the snp lose ? if you mean the referendum then youre sadly mistaken as that would be tbe yes campaign which contained several members of other parties . all that was wrong with tbe indy ref was people made it about party politics the media in particular

I accept Trump won, I accept Brexit. I don't agree with Brexit or Trump. I can do that, because that's what democracy is.

***CHECKS AND BALANCES as laws passed by Congress.

The 1952 law maintained the quotas established by the Immigration Act of 1924. And, though it eliminated the racial condition for citizenship that had long held back Asians, it set the new quotas in such a way that favored Western Europeans. A key provision, however, gave the President the ability to overrule those quotas.

Section 212(f), states: "Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."

.

Trump's executive order must be illegal - "why"???, he is certainly not the first president to make use of Section 212(f) after 1965. In 1981, President Ronald Reagan used it to bar “any undocumented aliens arriving at the borders of the United States from the high seas," while in 1986, he used it to bar Cuban nationals, with some exceptions. In 1994, Bill Clinton used it to bar anyone in the Haitian military or government affiliated with the 1991 coup d’état that overthrew the democratically-elected president. Ten years later, George W. Bush used it to bar corrupt members of the government of Zimbabwe from entering the U.S. And in 2012, Barack Obama used it to bar hackers aiding Iran and Syria.

As said above by erectjim I accept Trump won, I accept Brexit.

However, I don't agree with Brexit or Trump. I can do that, because that's what democracy is!

And freedom of speech allows me/us to shout my/our disapproval on the roof top!

I'm so fucked off with people who think anyone that disagrees or dislikes various outcomes is a " lefty"

I'm a socialist and always will be but current labour does nothing for me. If only John Smith had survived I'm sure things would have been quite quite different.

However I do accept what is going on,we just need to sort it now.

Totally agree!!

At least with Trump people knew what they were voting for. There was a lack of information, and some mis-information, about the ramifications of Brexit. As not much has been clarified since, people are right to question this decision.

We may have a democracy won vote, but when the balance is just a smidgen over 50% then that's not really a majority.

The trouble with brexit is that the government had no brexit plan.

It's like trump promising to ban Muslims but then finding it's illegal to do so.

I dont think the angst comes from diffrence of opinion more that those whos vote didnt win dont accept that others (the majority no matter how slender) saw things diffrently. And to an extent accuse them of being short sighted or insular or any other slur. Worse still are the mps who didnt vote to trigger article 50.

Not saying that the UK's electoral system isn't also broken...

Cons - 11,299,959 - 330 seats

Lab - 9,344,328 - 232 seats

UKIP - 3,881,129 - 1 seat

Lib Dem - 2,415,888 - 8 seats

SNP - 1,454,436 - 56 seats

Green - 1,157,613 - 1 seat

DUP - 184,260 - 8 seats

Plaid Cymru - 181,694 - 3 seats

Sinn Fein - 176,232 - 4 seats

UUP - 114,935 - 2 seats

SDLP - 99,809 - 3 seats

UKIP weren't the only Party whose total number of seats failed to reflect the popular vote...The Green Party and Lib Dems also have a case for saying that they've been screwed over...

Lib Dems take almost 1 million MORE votes than the SNP, but the SNP get SEVEN TIMES as many seats...

The difference between the SNP and the Greens was only 300,000 votes, but the SNP get FIFTY-SIX seats to the Greens' ONE.

No, Trump ISN'T the first President to exercise this power.

HOWEVER, the fact remains that Presidential Executive Orders are deemed to carry THE FULL FORCE OF LAW.

THEREFORE, the President is still required to exercise the powers granted him under Section 212(f) in a manner which is CONSISTENT with the US Constitution.

If the JUDICIAL BRANCH find him to have misused his authority, they are empowered to VETO the President, just as they can strike down an UNCONSTITUTIONAL law passed by Congress.

When Reagan, Clinton, Bush, and Obama called upon Section 212(f), they too would have been challenged in the courts, had it been believed that they were acting in an Unconstitutional manner.

With BREXIT I don't think that the outcome has been expected and therefore no one had a strategy for how to negotiate a new deal. The deal cannot improve on what the UK has at the moment. It's a complicated process and should have been planned for.

Trump cannot impose a travel ban without good reason. Previous exclusions were based on legal arguments. Trump is not bigger than the law. He should read the Declaration of Independence and learn what he can and can't do.

As for the Scottish Independence referendum, we're going to have a different rate of income tax and so some people may leave to do similar jobs in England and keep more of their wages. SNP will drive the experienced professionals away and leave us without the skilled people we need.

So much for democracy.
