Is anyone using the Houseparty app? I've been chatting with friends & family on it for the last week and thought singles & couple could reach out to potential matches via this app whilst we're all in self-isolation. #staysafe y'all

It’s been on social media that it’s hacking people’s personal stuff. Stay clear of it

Yes I was asked to join by a family member but after looking at it we decided against it

I've just been seeing this app crop up recently as well .. Is it really needed when there's so many apps already for socializing with?

It’s been confirmed now that this is not the case

So as long as secure your apps correctly and use passwords, lock them down. Your fine.

Both apps had security “scares” but be sensible and they are fine

You'd come across the same people i bet. Already found that with 2 other apps I was on briefly. Quite fancied a change of scenery, but that wasn't happening

I had a wee house party on sat night with some of my family. Considering we’re scattered all over it was great getting together and seeing each other like we did.

Although I must say the quality and streaming was pretty crap.

Do you need a smart TV?

Not sure all of us in house would be able to see a phone screen at once?

Nah, Houseparty's either an app on your phone or there's a Chrome extension that lets you use your web browser.

Work bought us all Zoom accounts, it's pretty straight-laced video conferencing but I think the free accounts restrict a call to 40 minutes.

We tried Houseparty with the family at the weekend. It's easy to sign up to and use, and there are games and such which make it a bit more fun.

That's not true, just one of those internet things where it sounds plausible and bad so it gets spread. A bit like the disclaimer a lot of people have at the bottom of their profiles.

People are ticking/aren’t ticking the box that allows access to rest of the phone.

Have a look at the BBC news website. The software owners are offering a $1million bounty for proof they've been slandered
