Welcome to our holiday rollercoaster ride 2020 style, keep your arms and legs inside the cabin at all times

-------

January 2020

Book 11 nights holiday with AD James in July Cap D’Adge with our dear and very close friends who have never been before.

Book flights to Béziers with Ryanair

***

Book 12 nights at La Mirage in Gran Canaria for late November once again with our friends (are they mad!) who have been many times before.

Book Jet2 flights

***

Expectation of going: 100% yes

----------

March-April 2020

Covid hits

***

Expectation of going to the Cap: Very low

Expectation of going to Gran Canaria: reasonable

----------

May 2020

Ryanair cancel flights

With heavy heart we cancel Cap D’Agde

----------

June 2020

Booked 15 nights at La Mirage for Autumn 2021! Well you need something to look forward to!

----------

July 2020

No quibble full refund from AD James

----------

September-October 2020

Ryanair full refund

***

Quarantine for returning from Gran Canaria (get out of jail free card as regards holiday insurance)

***

Expectation of going: Very low

Holiday insurance will cover loss of flights, La Mirage said will move holiday with no penalty so no financial loss.

***

Madeira not quarantined and tests at airport on arrival, cheap flights, some very nice villas with pools for the same price as La Mirage. So have that on standby in case La Mirage goes 'tits up'.

***

Quarantine lifted for Gran Canaria

Expectation of going: reasonable

***

Jet2 Cancel flight home and offer the day before or full refund (get out of jail free card as regards financial loss)

Expectation of going: still reasonable

***

Announcement of almost certain Covid test 72 hrs before you fly to GC

Expectation of going: Very low.

£120-£180 for a test each that may not be done in time resulting in loss of the cost of tests, flights and hotel deposit (over £700 in total) and not covered by insurance if negative test (which you hope it would be).

Jet2 give us in effect 21 days to decide what to do taking us up to the day of travel.

----------

THE FUTURE

***

November 2020

Covid rates likely to still be going up all over Europe with a distinct possibly of a lockdown in the UK!

Expectation of going: Very very low

***

Madeira still a possibility but unlikely.

----------

December 2020

Having to spend nearly a couple of weeks at home with the missus and can’t travel anywhere: possible murder charge by December (assuming they find the body).

----------

January 2021

Sanity probably intact.

----------

Autumn 2021

La Mirage

Expectation of going: Fair to Low

----------

July-October 2022

Going to party as if there is no tomorrow (assuming we make it that far and there are parties left to go to)

We work hard and love our holidays but at the end of the day we still have our health and are safe and sound as is our family as are our friends and, for us, that is all that really matters just now.

When were you hoping to travel when Jet2 gave you 21 days notice of the 72 hour tests ?

They gave us just under 4 weeks notice.

They have been cancelling all Sunday flights (the day we returned) probably to consolidate them with their Saturday flights as many airlines have been doing.
