Hi,
Heading out to Malaga over Easter and just wondering, what is the nearest resort to Almayate beach? Alternatively, is it easy to get to on the bus from either Malaga or Nerja? Flights booked but still thinking of where to stay. Thank you! |

May i ask you, why most british tourists choose to stay near Marbella and most German and EU citizens pick Nerja and Andalusia? I just want to hear your thoughts, maybe becas se you want to be surrounded around the same people english speaking? I went throught places from Managa airport all over to Marbella, and i found it very touristic, is it something people like? Maybe people like to feel themself in a good weather but be surrounded by english speaking people? Thank you |

First, I'd point out that both Nerja and Marbella are in both Andalusia (as are Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada and Almeria - Andalusia is a big AC).
I don't think that Marbella is particularly popular with the British - it seems equally popular with other Europeans, Arabs etc. As to why the West of Malaga is particularly popular with British I'd suggest that part of it is tradition - Torremolinos was the first package holiday destination for the British in the 1960's, largely because it was 10 minutes from Malaga airport by coach and had a good beach. From there the tourists just drifted West. The area is completely geared up for English speakers which suits many of the people that move there.
As for the East of Malaga, I think that it caters for those who don't want to live in a conurbation (Malaga to Estepona is pretty much a continuous built up area with a total population of about 1m) which has no discernable central planning. East of Malaga is less over-developed (although developers and councils are doing their best to screw it up). |

not that we are aware of. There's a swingers retreat just north of Velez (the Hacienda) but there's a minimum 3 night stay there which isn't good when you have your own place here! |

when we were at the beach today a large group of clothed people (mostly Spanish and some English) arrived and parked in front of the palm trees. The carried clip boards and seem to be discussing a possible development (another camp site?) in that area. Does anyone know anything about this? It would spoil the part of the beach where the more liberated nudists gather |

"thats going to be in velez I am told. "
There's three proposals - two sited at the mouth of the river on the Torre del Mar side (although they differ somewhat in location), and one on the South side of the A7 opposite El Ingenio.
Whichever site is selected there's going to be a lot of construction as they lay pipe etc. But given that Vinuela is all but empty thanks to 20 years of official ineptitude they have to do something. |

The pipe work is coming from Rincon all the way along the coast. We went to a restaurant at easter in Rincon and the whole front was dug up. The waiter told us the pipe work is going all the way to Velez and it’s a 6 month project. I think a few years at least as that is a lot of digging and laying. |

They will just keep planting more avocados which will need more water! Crazy.

Was at Almayate yesterday. No action as people respect that at this time of the year its also a family beach. After 15th of september when kids are back to school its adults only in the week so you do see some play. |

"We'll be at Almayate beach next week.
Staying hear Velez for a few weeks...
"
Just came back from a nice private villa above Velez, naked most of the time, didn't make it to the beach. Great area. |
