Wondering if there is 'enough' to do on the Island.

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

What's an expat? Is it like an immigrant?

I guess it depends on what you like doing? If you want to eat out and lie in the sun reading, you could spend your full 90 days there.

Use the shengen 90/180 day ruling. you must never exceed the 90 days in every 180 days. The 180-day period is a ‘rolling’ period.

I think they know how long the rules say, the question was more about how long is long enough just for a visit.

We tend to spend a month in either Lanzarote, Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura every winter and look at it as a boot camp kind of stay. We live as we do in the U.K. eating in and staying in most nights but go running every morning and going for a walk every afternoon and every evening.

Our current accommodation is not in Fuerteventura but like most that we choose is about two miles from anything interesting, this means that if we go out every day - three times - we do at least 12 miles a day. In fact, most stays we end up nearer 20 miles a day by the end of the trip, lose anything from 2kg to 5kg in weight and miss all the dark, damp, miserable depth of winter U.K. days.

It’s a great way to spend a month (or longer) in the sunshine and get fitter and healthier along the way. It doesn’t matter which island you choose.

Fuerteventura, Canaries Islands

Schengen is 90 days rolling.

So it could be fuerteventura or any other schengen country within the treaties.

Unfortunately Croatia entered schengen, which was a great place with Malta for digital nomads from the UK to set base.

So fuerteventura being Spain, it would be 90 rolling days.

Many activities to do, depending on what you enjoy.

Surfing, kitesurfing, wingfoil, a great amount of hikes, padel, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, sailing, finding little gem restaurants and cafes around the island, beaches, a night of astronomy with a telescope, dancing lessons, yoga, well-being, spiritual events, festivals depending on when you come with free concerts, the fiestas "de las vírgenes" from July to September approx. And if you're staying for 3 months I'd say hop to lanzarote for 1 or 2 weeks to explore too, as it's just a 30mn boat ride.

Lots to do, many people to meet, in many settings, an enjoyable place (and when you leave, you enjoy seeing trees elsewhere and green becomes a gift too, so it's amazing)

"Wondering if there is 'enough' to do on the Island."

Don't forget there are also flights between the islands.

Our experience of Fuerteventura is that it's very chilled - so a lot depends on how self-reliant you are as a couple.

Thanks all. Some great ideas. Back there in March. We've climbed three Volcanoes - love the wild walking.

Just need to add a daily, well earned visit to the cake shop in El Cotillo, and I'd agree!

+1 for their cakes. Yummy with some fresh squeezed Orange Juice after a hot day on the beach!

El Goloso, but if they's another one we're always happy to try new things!

you can enjoy the Cafe Pitaya and it's "huevos Pitaya" for breakfast, which are poached eggs on salmon and avocado with a holandese sauce all on a bagel... it's like awewome.

and in Lajares the coffee in El Arco is one of the best in the north with Triton cafe in Cotillo.

Great bread and other bakery + cakes in "la panateca" in lajares.

Pizza would be Il Teperino in Cotillo

Burger : Tsunami (also cotillo)

Olivio Corso has amazing tapas and food

Averaging 15 miles per day at the moment - around 25,000 - 30,000 steps and still another two weeks to go to get up to a consistent 20 miles per day and at least 35,000 steps.
