I forgot to add that the place is a lot smarter and cleaner since the current owners have taken over. I also would say some of the less desirable clientele have been moved in or stopped coming. I think ‘the dirty old men’ thing is a tad harsh, yes they are the predominant group; but I think it has improved markedly under new owners. When I first went a decade ago, there were always a couple of rather smelly borderline tramps who used to spend their days in there. They have not been in evidence on my most recent visits.
The place generally is much better now, clean and better maintained. But the whole point of it for me is that it is sleazy, and it succeeds. In amongst the clientele you will find younger guys, lovely TVs and handsome older guys; but of course if you don’t pre-arrange you can’t guarantee who or how many will be there.
