The School Run Dad

I had been laid off during covid, so it was agreed between the wife and i, that i would look after the 2 kids. Getting them up, ready for school, and collect them from school.

My wife is a solicitor, so we could just about afford for us to do this for a while, untill i found a new job. It would also give our parents a break, from doing this, like the last couple of years.

So with this all agreed, this is what we set out to do. The wife had been working from home, but now they were allowed back into their offices. Their were 5 solicitors working in this practice. Men and women, of different age groups.

The first morning arrived for me to get the the 2 kids up and ready for their adventure back to school. Typical kids, huffing and puffing and running slow, with the odd bickering between the 2 of them. But i had finally got them ready and sorted for school. The walk wasnt far, and the sun was shining. We arrived at the school, waved goodbye, and said have a good day, and i will meet you here when end of school day. I was wearing a polo shirt and jeans, and didnt really take no notice of the other mums and dads at the school gate. Off i set, back home to do the daily chores, taking my time, with the radio on.

Before i new it, the time had come to go collect our children from the gate.

I arrived to see a fair few parents stood their, and for the first time i looked around, and thought, theirs only one more dad here. The rest were young mums. A few made eye contact when the kids run upto me, and we started walking off home. With the usual chit chat at 100mph from the kids. Excited to see their friends again, for what seemed like a lifetime for them.

Dad,they said. Tommys mum and dad have split up during covid. Tommy said it had been a tough few months for him, listening to them arguing at night, then for his dad to walk out, and leave his mum.

The evening passed uneventfull. Whilst laying in bed, i said to jill, the kids said harrys parents have split up.

"oh have they said jill, i wonder what happened their. I think they have been together since school". We small talked for an hour or more whilst spooning in bed.

The morning arose, and jill was off out the door early, as they were silly busy at the solicitor's.

So i got the kids up, breakfast done, washed and off to school we trot. Small talk was made with the kids, till they saw one of their friends, and ran off to catch them. I arrived at the school gate, to just see them mucking about in the playground.

"huh, no goodbye today" i said to myself, ti turn around and start walking back off home.

When i voice from behind me said, "thats kids for you, only talk when they want something".

I thought i murmered it in my head, but must of been loud enough to be heard.

I turned my head to say, "think i need to get use to this, as i think i will be walking to school with them for a while".

"oh dont you normally do the school run, i didnt think i had seen you before".

"hi, no this is all new to me, im mike by the way".

And carried on walking.

As i got about 3 steps away i heard, "well if you ever need a coffee, their a few of us girls meet at each others house once a week, if you want to join us one day, im debbie by the way".

So off i walk home to do the chores and sit in the garden to take advantage of the nice weather.

The week passed without to much trouble, and i was settling into taking the kids to school. The following week, jill said she may have to do a few late nights, to keep up with her work, as she had a court case coming up for a client.

Monday arrived, and up we all got, jill went off to work with a kiss and a cuddle.

Me and the kids walked to school as per normal. Waved them off, and was starting to walk back home, when i heard.

"hey, good morning, were having a girlie coffee morning tomorrow round claires house, straight from dropping the kids off, your welcome to come along. I have told the girls i may have a new school dad to tag along".

" er er, yes i suppose i could come for a coffee, but i wont be able to stay long".

"perfect, i shall let the girls know, we have a school run dad joining us, im sure they will be pleased". Said debbie. With that she gave a wink and walked off in the other direction. I couldnt but notice how short her skirt was.

All the way home i kept saying to myself, dont go, think of an excuse.

The day passed with no drama. I went to collect the kids, and their was debbie stood with a group of ladies. They all looked at me and giggled. I felt embarrassed, so collected the kids quick and made my way home. The kids were talking to me all the way home, but my mind was elsewhere.

There are some hot grandmas even who do the school run at our kids. There is one I swear is in her 60s with platinum white hair and an amazing figure. She just looks filthy. Got a nice smile from her the other day.

I was a single parent when mine were still a primary school never got with a single or other wise mum but did have some fun with a sister of a mum who use to take her kids to school. She use to work an afternoon shift spent many a morning balls deep in her she was dirty as fuck.
