Hi there we are Jeanette and Rob and we were reasonably well known in our local area because we then owned a very successful chain of stores.
We had the trappings of success nice home cars lots of holidays and only 3 Years to go before we retire.
I was aged 63 Jeanette was 58.
I met this guy at the golf club called Sam he was an investment banker and obviously successful given the nice car he drove.
Well we became mates Sam often would dine at ours or we'd eat out. He was a nice guy we both liked his friendship. Yonger then us of course but as we age we often find that Sam was in his 40s id say.
Unfortunately for us he was to nice and we were too trusting. Sam suggested that we could actually retire early by reissued shares and leasing back our own business. It sounded complicated but the figures Sam showed us were attractive.
Well long story short we went with his idea so you can well imagine our shock when balifs arrived with a court order to evict us.
Apparently we no longer owned the house then our cars were taken and finally our business.
We had been totally conned and through greed and stupidity were now homeless.
All of the above was perfectly legal and there was nothing we could do.
Would you believe Sam had the cheek to invite us to our own home where he was now living where he offered us a room above the garage " to help us out" as he put it.
Well of course we were angry but as Jeanette pointed out its Winter and we do need a roof over our head.
So reluctantly I agreed were to live in our old garage. I would do handy jobs around the property and drive Sam as his chauffeur Jeanette was going to be his house maid.
Sam was it turned out married to a large quite dominant Nigerian woman and it was via " Martha," that my wife received her duties.
We had in such a short time gone from confident leaders of the community to humble servants of the guy who ruined us and his partner.
Martha when she first met my Jeanette asked my wife if she knew how to courtesy my wife said yes.
From then on Martha insisted that my wife courtesy when entering a room with her init I inturn would always salute Sam.
Things surely can't get any worse for us
