Yes, having a local key holder would be advantageous. But not the end of the world.
I self lock, been into chastity for 5 yrs. Been 24/7 locked for just over 2 yrs. Release only for deep clean, excersise and odd occasions where a guy wants access to my Dicklette. Other wise it just remains locked away.
Self locking does work, you'll get into the mindset in time.
Use typically very small cobra copies, I cable tie the barrel lock as well to stop any gapping / moving on pins.
Enjoy flat inverted cages.
I have an inch long open style metal cage from House of Denial. Currently giving thought to their 3D hera style in XS size.
Just recently am using a pink Holy Trainer nub. Its a typical Knock off...but soooooo comfy to wear. Giving serious thought to buying the general item from Switzerland, purely on various color schemes and mods available. Not really expensive either in my opinion.
Is worth spending the money if you enjoy your Dicklette all locked up.
Consideration to genuine kink3d in the new year too.
Can never have enough cages.
