I joined the army in 2000, spent five years in before leaving in 2005.
I served in the Royal Military Police and when I signed off in March 2004 they sent me to run a two man police detachment in Folkestone.
It was them trying to give me a cushy posting in the hope that I would stay in, but by this time I’d already set my heart on joining the civvy police.
One afternoon I had a knock at the police station door, so I shouted for whoever it was to enter.
One of the PTI’s posted there took a public services course once a week on camp.
He brought in this stunning 18 year old girl who was on the course and wanted to join the RMP.
He asked if I could see if she could spend a day with me every so often and get an insight into policing the army!

So I made the call to HQ and they allowed this to happen, she just wasn’t insured to come out on calls with me.
So the next week, she came along and spent the day with me.
I could tell she was absolutely in awe of the whole army thing and had a little glint in her eye.
At some point during the day, I showed her the interview room and she just came out and nervously asked if I’d ever fucked anyone in the police station.
