I was sat in a hospital waiting room on the edge of a blue plastic chair with my elbows on my knees and my head in my hands. the tears were running down my face and nose.The box of tissues on the table was nearly empty and the bin was full.
I was on my own and didnt know what was happening.
We had arrived by Ambulance.
Lynne was in and out of consciousness in the house and also in the Ambulance.
Lady Maria had taken control and we got Lynne off the floor and into a chair.Lady Veronica had arrived and they decided that we should get Lynne to hospital ASAP.
We arrived and there was a team waiting for us.
They had taken Lynne into a room and got some details from me but then I was taken out and shown into the waiting room.
A nurse entered the room.
" We are taking Lynne down for a scan just to see if anything shows up"She said.
" We think it might be her Appendix,but we`ll know more after the scan" she said trying to smile " I really cant tell you any more at the moment" she said.
" Can I see her" I asked wiping tears away.
" Come on" she said taking my hand " You can go down with her to xray"
I took Lynnes hand "Darling its me" I said trying to hold back the tears " I am here and I am staying with you" I felt her hand tighten in mine. " I love you Lynne and will always be here for you"
The Porter put his arm around me.
" Lets get her in for a scan mate" " and you can see her when she comes out" "And dont worry, she`s in the best place"
I told Lynne I loved her again and she was taken into xray.
About 10 minutes passed and a team came rushing into the department.
They brought Lynne out with one nurse holding a line going into her arm.
I jumped out of the seat.
" what happening" I shouted at a nurse.
She came over.
" Its ok Marshal" she said " Come with me and I ll explain whats happening next"
" where is she going"?
WE went back into the waiting room. Lady Maria and Lady Veronica were there.
I gave them both a cuddle and they gave me tissues to dry my eyes.
The nurse asked me if it was alright to speak in front of them, which of course it was.
" Ok then" she started " Lynne has been taken to theatre for emergency surgery" "We think its Appendix" " she has a very high temperature and her blood pressure is high as well".
" as soon as I find out something then I will come and tell you"
" Is there anything you would like to ask" she said looking at us all.
" I just want her to be alright" I said
" we are doing everything we can for her" the Nurse smiled.
" We`ll look after him" Lady Maria told the nurse as she left the room.
They had brought a box with some of the finger food from yesterday and Veronica went and got me a cup of tea...bless them both Ladies were brilliant. I was just a mess.
I was just pacing up and down the room and looking out into the corridor hoping someone would come and tell me Lynne was alright.
Lady Maria got up and told me she was going to see if she could find out was was happening but at the same time the Nurse came in.
" How are you all" she looked around
" The surgeon is on his way to have a talk to you" " try and take in what he says" she said just as the door opened and in he walked.
He asked who we all were and if it was ok to talk to us all.
" Ok so It was Appendix" he started in an Asian type accent.
" we have removed what was left of that and done some other tests"
" Now Lynne has developed an infection that has spread"
" We have her sedated and on very strong antibiotics to try to stop the infection spreading"
He stopped and looked at us all.
" I must stress this...Lynne is very very poorly" " Very poorly"He said
Maria and Veronica looked at each other.
I stood up.
" Do you mean she could die"? I asked
The Surgeon and the Nurse looked at each other
The Nurse took over.
" At this minute we simply do not know how far the infection has spread" " we have her on the strongest antibiotics and we hope they start to kick in soon"
" I need to see her" I said " Take me to see her please"
This was just the worse nightmare I could have possibly imagined

Like all the other readers on here I’m hoping for a full recovery for Lynn, simply because this is the best thread on here by a country mile!

Even after the Nurse had given me a detailed description of how ill Lynne was, and what to expect when I went into the room to see her, it hadnt really prepared me and I dissolved into tears when I saw how helpless she looked.
She had wires attached to various parts off her body and lines coming out of her arms and bags of fluids being pumped into her and a tube in her nose.
" Its a lot to take in I know, but this is standard procedure" She assured me
" we are hoping that there will be an improvement in Lynne within the next 24 hours" she continued
I sat in the chair next to Lynne and took her hand.
" What happens if there is no change in the next 24 hours" i asked
"Well we`ll make a decision then " she answered.
" Will she be able to hear me" I asked
" I think so yeah" she said.
" I can bring one of your friends in to be with you" she said
" Yes please, I`d like that"
I thanked her.
"Aww darling its me" I cried
" we are going to fight this together" I told her " We`re going to get you better then we are going on holiday to relax and you can choose where we are going" I told her.
Lady Maria came into the room and stood at the end of the bed just looking at her friend.
She smiled at me. " It always looks worse than it actually is" she tried to assure me...it didnt work.
" I just dont know what to do Maria" I said shaking my head as the tears started again.
" You`ll do what you are doing now" she said to me taking my hand" You`ll be strong for her and keep telling her that you love her"
I nodded. "Iam trying" I said wiping tears away.
A Dr and 2 nurses came into the room.
" we are just taking her blood pressure and changing over her bags to get her through the night" One nurse said
" You should go home and get some rest" She told me
" No" I said " Iam staying with her"
Lady Maria took my hand. " come on, we`ll get a cup of tea for 10 minutes and let these people do what they need to do"
We sat with Lady Veronica.
Again I dissolved.." what if she doesnt pull through" I asked both Ladies.
" I think we all need to go home" Lady Maria said " if anything happens then they will phone you" she continued
"You can have a shower and some food and maybe get some rest"
I knew it was a good idea but I couldnt leave Lynne alone in hospital.
" I cant leave her" I said.
We agreed that the Ladies would go home and I would stay the night with Lynne.
In the morning they would come back and I would go home then for a shower.
I went back into Lynnes room and there was a nurse there.
" How is she doing" I asked.
The Dr came into the room.
" Ok Marshal" he looked worried
" we will continue with the antibiotics tonight and see where we are in the morning" " at this moment Lynne is still very ill"
The words seemed to echo all round the room |

I settled down on the chair next to Lynne still holding her hand. I felt like I had been in here for days..the reality was We had been here about 12 hours. Lynne had been on the antibiotics for probably 6 hours so there was possibly a long way to go till we saw an improvement.
I had no more tears left and I knew I had to stay strong and be positive that she was going to wake up.
A Nurse came in and checked her blood pressure and temperature.
She told me Lynne was the only one on this ward so she would be getting her full attention during the night and I should go home and try to get some rest.
" I am staying with her" I said
I sat and told Lynne how much I loved her and went on about how we would go on a nice holiday and spend all day on a beach somewhere and drink cocktails and have nice food.
I told her about my plans for our business.
I told her that I couldnt wait for the pool to be finished so we could have days just lying poolside with cocktails.
I told her I couldnt wait to see her in her nice dresses and particularly her bikinis.
I drifted off to sleep for maybe 10 minutes.
This continued for most of the night.
Nicola, the lovely nurse would come in and have a look at the machine Lynne was hooked up too and bringing me a cup of tea.
She did a check just before 6am on Monday morning.
She looked at me and smiled and left the room.
I still had Lynnes hand in mine.
Nicola returned with a Dr.
" whats happening" I asked concerned.
" Give us 2 mins" Nicola said
They both looked at each other. I had hold of Lynnes hand kissing it.
The DR turned to me.

The DR turned to me.
"Ok Marshal" he started.
" Lynnes blood pressure has dropped to a level that is normal"
I noticed Nicola was giving me the thumbs up.
" Her temperature has also dropped so that will be the Antibiotics starting to work"
" so we just wait and see what happens next" he said.
I shook his hand " Thank you so much Dr" I said absolutely beaming.
" She is still poorly but the antibiotics seem to be working so hopefully she will continue to improve".
Nicola told me she would be back in 5 minutes and they left the room
I kissed Lynne.
" Come on Darling" I said to her crying again" Keep fighting Darling" " we`ll get you home as soon as you are well enough"
Nicola came back in the room
" Are you ok" she asked me
I gave her a hug.
" Thank you so much Nicola" I cried.
" shes strong but not out of the woods yet" she said
" Yes but its a move forward" I said.
I gave her another hug.
" Thats my shift finished" she said" I` ll no doubt see you tonight"
" Thanks Nicola" I said.
A couple of hours later Lady Maria came into the room with another of the fantastic nurses.
"How is she" Maria asked.
I told her the news that the Antibiotics were starting to work.
We sat and chatted for a while, all the time I had Lynnes hand in mine.
" Maria can you take over" I asked " Iam desperate for the toilet" I laughed.
" Of course I can sweetheart" she said.
I stood up.
Lynnes hand gripped mine.
I looked at Maria.
" I think she is coming round " Maria said " I`ll get the nurse" she said running out of the room.
I sat back down
" Lynne darling its me " I said bursting into tears as her gorgeous eyes opened. |

Lynne took a while to come round but she did understand it was me who was there.
" Hello Marshal" she said looking around the room.
The lights and the noises from the various machines she was hooked up to, were still Flashing and beeping away.
" Welcome back darling" I told her gripping her hand and bringing it up to kiss.
Lady Maria returned with the nurse and a Dr Followed them in.
" Can you give us 10 minutes to assess Lynne" The nurse said.
I suddenly remembered I was desperate for the toilet.
That done, I took a seat in a little waiting area and tried to take stock off the last couple of days.
It was 2pm on Monday...I felt like I had been here for days.
The tears started again.
A cup of tea was handed to me.
Lady Maria sat next to me. She kissed me on the cheek and gave me a tissue.
" Dry your eyes and drink your tea" she said.
" You know Marshal" She said" You have dealt with so much in this last year"" and yet you always come out the other side"
"You keep amazing me at how young you are, but so mature" she added.
" Lucky bitch has really landed on her feet with you" she laughed...we both did.
"Come on your Ladyship" I took her by the hand.."Lets go and see how the Patient is"
Lynne was sitting up having a glass of water.
She was still a bit groggy but everyone was happy with her improvement.
The nurse told us we should leave her to sleep and we could return tonight.
I wanted to stay.
" There is no point in arguing with you is there"? the nurse laughed.
" Not much" I replied.
" No but seriously, I want to be here with her" I said.
Lady Maria said she would return tonight with fresh clothes for Lynne as long as I went home with her so I could get some rest tonight.
I reluctantly agreed.
When we were alone I put my head on her hand and I heard her say she loved me.
I drifted off to sleep.
I woke needing the toilet again...too much tea.
When I came out I saw Luigi and Big Toni and another chap going down the corridor.
They obviously werent going to see Lynne.
I wondered what was going on.. |

Lynne was getting stronger by the hour and she was quite talkative by the time Lady Maria and AJ arrived at 7pm.
We`d talked about a nice holiday and other things we had wanted to do.
I was really tired but was glad that I`d been with her when she had come round.
We all had a good chat and Maria told Lynne that I had never left her side since coming in early Sunday morning.
Lynne started to get tired and it was decided we should all go.
I, obviously wanted to stay but Lynne told me she wanted to rest and that I should as well do I agreed.
She kissed me and whispered in my ear" I wont forget what you did " she said and kissed me again.
We left Lynne for the night after I had a quick cuddle with Nurse Nicola who had just come on duty.
" Iam so happy for you " she said " I ll have a chat with her at some point" she added and said goodnight to us.
When we arrived home I could smell curry as soon as I walked into the house. Amanda had made a fabulous meal. Two different curries, rice, chips and popadoms.
I had a shower first and then a Gin with the Ladies while we waited for Luigi to arrive.
I had taken Amanda to one side and gave her the money I had promised her...plus a little bonus for holding the fort the last few days.
"Come and have a drink and the food with us " I told her.." Part of the family you" I said.
Luigi arrived and we all sat down.
I suddenly felt the last few days catch up with me.
I managed to eat Amandas lovely meal but had to concede defeat and made my excuses and headed up to bed.
Luigi had told me that he wanted to have a chat, AJ gave me a hug and Lady Maria told me she would stay as long as we wanted her too.
I just got straight into bed...as normal I turned in to face Lynne..kissed her pillow that had her perfume smell on it and that was me out of it.

I didnt wake till 2pm the following afternoon.
I had a few missed calls on my phone from Luigi,AJ and Lord Charles.
I lay in bed with a cup of tea and sorted myself out.
Luigis message really made me laugh.
" Hello Marshal" He started " I need to have a chat with you sometime today about some business" Then I could here AJ in the background " For Gods Sake Luigi will you leave the boy alone till he is sorted with Lynne...Now put the fucking phone down"..I was howling with laughter.
Lord Charles was just asking for an update on Lynne.
I showered and headed downstairs.
The house was empty.
Lady Maria had taken The Porsche and gone to visit Lynne. Amanda had gone home to pack for her holidays tomorrow.
Lady Veronica had gone home on Monday morning to see her solicitor but was returning on Thursday and Lord Charles and Lady Louise had taken Mike and Eve to their hotel in Edinburgh for a few days.
I phoned Lord Charles and had a good chat.
"Now listen dear boy" He said " You take a step back from everything and look after that gorgeous lady of yours" he boomed down the phone at me. " James is going to send you an update of everything thats going on so you know whats happening" " `we`ll speak next week old man" he said " louise sends her love to you both" and he was gone.
Then I phoned AJ.
" How are you" She asked in her lovely soft voice.
" Iam fine" I told her " I just want her back here" I said
" Aww thats lovely" AJ said..I could hear someone in the background.
" AJ, where are you"? I asked
" Ive got someone who wants to talk to you " She said.
" Come on Maria lets get a cup of tea and let the love birds talk" I heard as the phone was passed over.
" Hello Darling" Lynne said.
" Hello my Princess" " how are you" I said with the biggest smile on my face.
We talked until the other two returned with cups of tea.
" I ll see you tonight darling" I told her " Is there anything you want me to bring for you" I asked.
" Just you" she said
" Iam not sure we can do that in hospital Lynne" I said laughing.
It sounded like my Princess was returning to normal |

The DR came into the room and asked if it was alright to talk for Five minutes.
"So Lynne how are we feeling" he asked
" A little tired but fine otherwise" she answered.
"so Your blood tests are coming back normal" " And we are happy with your recovery so hopefully we can let you go home tomorrow."
Lynne was sitting in the chair and I was standing next to her holding her hand.
We looked at each other smiling.
" Iam sure Marshal will look after you" He added.
" But I must tell you both this" He looked very serious
" Had we not operated as quickly as we had, then you probably wouldn`t be here"
" We think we were less than 30 minutes from losing you"
" I cant thank you and your team enough Doctor" I said " Everyone here has been fantastic and we are both very grateful for what you have done and are doing".
WE shook hands and Lynne got up and gave him a hug.
" I will leave you unless you have any questions"
I didnt..unfortunately Lynne did.
" How long till we can have sex"? she asked..I looked away with my hand over my eyes.
" A very good question " He laughed " Ive never been asked that before either"
" I would give it till after you get your staples out and you are not in pain" " If you can wait that long" He laughed
I just shook my head.
About an hour later Nurse Nicola came in and asked if we would like a cup of tea.
We were the only ones still on the ward so I asked Nicola if she would like to join us for a cuppa.
We had a great hour just chatting.
" You wont believe the question she asked the Dr" I told Nicola.
When it was time for me to leave Nicola said she would give me ten minutes to say goodnight to Lynne.
We had a kiss and I helped her into bed.
" Goodnight Darling" I said.
" If you think I am waiting to get these fucking staples out before I get on top of you then you are sadly mistaken" She said.
We kissed again and then I left her to sleep.
I left the hospital and was preparing to do the 30 minute walk back home when a huge black Mercedes pulled up next to me.
" Marshal" " Get in and We`ll give you a lift home"...It was Luigi.

"So Marshal how is Lynne this evening" Luigi asked.
I told him that hopefully she might be coming home tomorrow.
" That is good" He said " Now what about you" He asked. " Your Aunt is worried about you" " we cant go on honeymoon till we know that you are both ok"
"So we want you to come to the restaurant tonight"
" We are going to your house now" he continued " and we`ll pick up My wife and Lady Maria" He said Opening the top of the arm rest and bringing out a bottle of red wine and two glasses.
" I love the car mind" I said to him accepting a nice glass of wine.
"Now" He continued
" You have a lot to be dealing with at the moment so we`ll take a step back from discussing business for the time being is that OK"? he asked.
"Chef has got your favourite soup on the menu tonight" he laughed
"Brilliant" I said taking a nice gulp of wine. I loved the Chilli, tomato and pepper soup, Chef Gennaro made.
We arrived at home and I had a quick shower and a change of clothes and we headed off to the restaurant.
AJ sat next to me at the table.
"I know you are missing her but you have to try to eat"she said
Luigi piped up" Hey, he always eats well here" he laughed
We had a lovely meal and a few drinks and a good few laughs...it was just what I needed.
Luigi wanted one of his drivers to take Lady Maria and myself home but I wanted to walk.
AJ Came over to me as we were saying thank you to Luigis staff.
She took a letter out of her bag.
" Have a read of this" she said " Talk it over with Lynne and see what you think" she said giving me a kiss.
" I hope she comes out tomorrow" she added.
I put the letter in my pocket and Lady Maria and I headed off.
We got home and had another drink but both of us were really tired so went to our rooms.
I remembered about the letter AJ had given me.
I opened it when I was in bed...I had to read it three times. |
