Hi I’m staying in Coventry this week with plans to meet. Can anyone advise me on which hotels don’t require a key for the lifts? I’d like my guest to be able to enter and leave as discreetly as possible

Coventry

Have used the Hylands Hotel for meet before. No questions asked when walking through reception. Very cheap, but remember, what you pay is what you get. It's pretty dire from a hotel point of view.

The Royal Court isn't bad. No key for the lifts and they have a big lobby and a bar so the reception staff are used to people coming and going and don't question it

Thanks everyone! I’ve checked them out. Is there anywhere a bit more fancy?

The hylands !!!!! Never again the rooms are mostly occupied by people who have just come out prison with no fixed address. We caught seen on of the guests picking up fag butts off the car park and the room was just shit , our mistake we went for the cheapest on booking dot com. Definitely get what you pay for

There is the Telegraph Hotel. Meant to be really nice, not been open long. And has got a nice roof top bar. Not sure how their rooms work though, might need to scout it before planning meets there.

I'm from Coventry and I'd say stick to the names you know. Many of the non chain named hotels are poor sadly. I have heard good things about the new Telegraph one though.

The Britannia City centre is a big hotel with large hotel loby/reception. Very easy to walk past reception without being noticed (if anyone is even sat at the desk). No key card entry for the lifts and keyless access to all corridors from stairs/lifts. Great for if you just want to give someone a room number. At least it was the case last time I was there but its a Britannia chain hotel so like the rest will still be stuck 30 years in the past (which is perfect for your needs).

Brittannia, easy access but rooms are very dated. Ok if you just looking for a quickie

I stayed there once. The table in the room was a computer desk with fag burns, and there was moss growing on the window frame. I wouldn't rush to return.

I was in Coventry for an event, and when I told a local friend where I was, he said "Call me in the morning. I want to know you survived the night".

Can anyone advise on the best western hotel in Coventry? Told its 10 mins from airport. Anything happening round there? Difficult to get “guests” in and out of the hotel???

The Jacobean and Premiere Inn do require key cards to enter the hallways but not the lift.

The Ibis Coventry South is an old school Campanile format (it's an ex Campanile). So the reception is in a building the opposite side of the carpark from the accommodation and all rooms open out on to and are accessible from the outside. No lifts or corridors to worry about.
