Trial and error, start spanking her, ask her where she wants spanking, as some ladies will like it on boobs and pussy as well as their ass, some even across their face, or thighs. Find out where she likes them build up the intensity slowly until she says that's enough. She's in charge of the first few times you do it |

I agree with these suggestions. A few other thoughts: vary intensity; mix soft strokes with firmer spanks. Tease don’t always try to hurt.
Don’t just spank the same area.
Try using other items like wooden spoon, belt or even a chopping board.
Go to kink markets (LAM in London, BBB in Birmingham, Townhouse in Birkenhead and many others hold them) - try things like paddles, floggers, canes and crops - try before you buy. Go to kink events at clubs
To start, agree safe words (yellow to slow down/go easy and red to stop are common ones).
Discuss whether there is a psychological element you want to include - calling names or even trying a role play. Does she want spanking to be considered a punishment or a reward.
Try playing with her or her using a vibe/wand at the same time or she may enjoy being blindfolded.
After a session ensure there is really good aftercare. Reassure her how well she has done, cuddle, snuggle, eat snacks, rehydrate. There may be an emotional drop afterwards.
Have fun and enjoy yourselves. |

Just start slowly to warm things gently, then increase all the while she is "comfortable" with it, as much as it seems a contradiction.
Just read her body language.
My wife both likes and dislikes spanking, in that although she dislikes the pain, the abundant wetness betrays her every time! |

Some thoughts.
Definition
What do you mean by "spanking"?
For me that is bent over using hand or toy like a brush or paddle.
Flogging, caning, whipping and other impact are under their own headings or generally under impact play. So what do you mean by spanking?
As others have mentioned, intensity and where on the body are questions for consideration.
Education,
Spanking may not be complex to some, but there is a possibility of harm. There are good YouTube videos and books on where to hit and where not to hit, and the different styles of spanking. Also videos on impact play are available.
It would not do harm to read up on limits, safe words, anatomy and aftercare.
Excitement
Depending on your definition of spanking there were a variety of spanking/impact videos on the streaming sites. Ranging from hard core to mild, ranging from purely spanking to spanking including sex.
Good Luck

Tell it through, she what she wants to experiment with, she might enjoy pain and want it to hurt. Have a safe word so that you can build up the intensity and she can choose when to stop, debrief after and keep on trying and pushing your boundaries. |
